The RedCafe Boxing Thread

Fair enough.

I will say, he could have gone down as one of the greatest. Unfortunately, prison ruined him.

Yep, I think it'll be a couple (if I even have time for a second pint) down the pub for the fight on Saturday.

It's a joke of a fight no matter which way they try to slice it.

It will be funny watching the Sky hype machine going into overdrive, to try and convince the audience that Harrison is a legitimate threat.

Haye - 210.5, Fraudley - 253.5. Haye is on the light side, I think he was around 216 for Ruiz.

Size doesn't matter, they both have suspect jaws and its probably a case of who lands big first. Either way I'm not paying to watch it.

Surprised Haye has come in so light, I was expecting him to come in 10 or 15 pounds heavier. Maybe something to do with his stamina issues? That extra bulk can't have helped much.

Antonio Margarito is ready for war on Saturday night at Cowboys Stadium in Texas. The former three time welterweight champion is confident in his ability to knock Manny Pacquiao out. He doesn't see Pacquiao being able to last the twelve round distance. There have been insults thrown around by both camps for many weeks. Margarito said he only threw insults in response to the verbal attacks from Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach.

"I came here to fight and not to make friends," said Margarito. "We were peaceful, but the team of Pacquiao, Freddie Roach in particular, tried to intimidate us and it was time to fight back. I guess they are nervous. Roach has talked a lot about us."

Margarito doesn't see any possibility for Pacquiao to win. They will fight at a catch-weight of 150-pounds. Margarito thinks Pacquiao and his team made a very big mistake by agreeing to fight him at junior middleweight.

"I feel very good, very different, and even better than when I faced Miguel Cotto. There is no way we can lose this fight. I'm going to knock him out," Margarito said.

I wonder what odds you can get for a "Harrison/Plasterito by KO" combo?

The weights are in for the biggest boxing event of the year. On Saturday night at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito will clash for the vacant WBC junior middlweight title. The first fighter on the scale was Margarito, who was shredded to death and made the catch-weight of 150-pounds on the nose. Pacquiao came on next, not as cut as Margarito, and weighed closer to a junior welterweight at 144.6-pounds.

This is interesting. Margo will probably rehydrate up to 160, or so. Manny will probably be pushing 147.

Everyone (including myself) is seemingly so expecting Haye to ruin Harrison, I'm tempted to stick a few quid on Harrison; it's set up for a big shock!

It would be a massive shock if Harrison won , but stranger things have happened.
I remember Tyson getting beat when odds on to win.
But I dont think it will happen this time , Harrison is good at the talking , he has always been good at that.
Haye is just too good for him

Is that a type? Because if you're talking about Harrison and Margarito both winning by KO, you can get 134-1 as a double on skybet.

I watched whatever the show was before the United match on SS2, the Sky Hype Machine (TM) was in full flow.

Bout 10

The undercard seems to be pundits Barry McGuigan & Johnny Nelson sparring with the touch screen.

Please pm me any streams you know will be working. Putting a bet on in a bit!

Round 1: Both wore glasses indoors during the press conference....Only massive twats do that.

Haye's glasses were more twattish.

Round 1 - Haye

Intervieer to Frank Bruno .... Frank do you fancy Harrison to win the fight ... No I don't fancy him cos I'm not gay ...:lol:

Quality stuff Frank

Manny doesn't look his best imo. Not so much on the evidence of that photo but I watched the video of the weigh in and he looked less muscular than usual and a little lethargic. Margarito looks in awesome shape. Some reckon he's weight drained and his face is quite drawn but if his body language was anything to go by he looked fresh and raring to go. Bouncing around the stage, smiling and confident. The polar opposite of De La Hoya before the Manny fight really, who was moving like a corpse. Journalists say he's been pretty close to fighting weight for a while now too.

Don't normally gamble but I couldn't resist putting a fiver on Tony by KO at 6/1 when I was in the bookies seeing a lady friend. Probably money down the drain but with Roach seeing he doesn't think Manny has long left in the sport and his worries about Manny's mentality there are a few signs of a possible upset. Margarito's looked poor lately but at his best he's absolutely fecking relentless, hand wraps be damned. He won't fanny out like Clottey did, he'll throw more than Cotto did and he can take more punishment than Hatton did. Of course if Manny's on the top of his game then his speed will win the fight for him handily, but any slippage and Margarito could take advantage.

I said it in this thread when the fight was made, but its worth remembering that if someone had said 4 years ago that Manny would be heavily favoured to beat Margarito at light-middleweight they'd have been laughed at.

Can't fecking weight for this one, and I've shamefully lapped up the Haye-Harrison hype too. I think Haye's going to batter him around the ring and finish it when he chooses to, but I stuck a quid on Harrison by 8th round KO at 50/1 just to keep it interesting for me and because of the doubts over Haye's chin.

Haven't been this hyped for a night of boxing for a good year or so!

This has been asked many times - but what time is the actual fight?

The show starts at 10 - but are there some fights on the card prior to Haye-Harrison?

Thanks
