The RedCafe Boxing Thread

Paulie Maliannigi kept saying Brook's eye socket is probably broken. Could be a big factor in throwing in the towel?

What is the deal with Khan/Brook 'glory'? They accepted matches with two way better boxers who are also bigger, and got knock out-ed quite early on the match. Where is the glory on it?!

...

Good interview from GGG.

Honest answer please.

Have you been drinking ?

Absolute rubbish

My respect for Brook has gone so much higher

He barely did anything in the fight. Couple of nice shots and as soon as he got hurt the corner threw in the towel

Golovkin wasn't arsed about Brook's power. Sky commentators are so biased.
GGG just said that, 'I didn't feel the power, on all those punches'.

Canelo should grow some balls, and accept a fight with GGG.

Were they really saying that?? (was watching in Polish) Golovkin didn't care one bit for Brook's power. You could see that from the way he was coming forward. Brook hit Golovkin with his hardest hit in the 2nd round and Golovkin didn't flinch. But as I said earlier, hardly surprising seeing as Brook isn't a big hitter.

Wait a minute, can't watch the fight so decided to keep up via this forum(think it might have been a bad decision). Im reading about this close fight then out of the blue a towel is thrown in? wtf is going on?
It wasn't close at all. Brook did a lot better than I expected, but ultimately he was pretty much as outclassed as everyone expected.

Don't think Kell will be too happy with his corner throwing the towel in

Publically he won't be because he'll wanna save face. Privately I'm sure he is though because he wasn't far away from getting seriously hurt there.

I have seen most of Golovkin's fights since he went to America and that is the most I have seen him hit by anyone. Brook did well all thing considered.
No denying Brook did a lot better than everyone expected, but it was very comprehensive for Golovkin. Sky were a tad hyperbole to say the least.

They made out that Brook got Golovkin with some good punches. Anyway, I suspect he'd fight differently against a bigger hitter.

Are you serious? Brook was landing clean punchers that would hurt almost anyone at 147-154.

Hope Canelo-GGG gets made. Have so much respect for Brook to come up & give that effort. Canelo needs to stop being a little bitch.

Because they were waving it around like a fanny for ages?
:lol:Odd Kell saying he was underwhelmed by his power but he smashed his eye socket in round two:wenger:

I don't know if people have seen Golovkin fight before, but he NEVER gets backed up, at least not since the Curtis Stevens fight. Brook showed real stuff in that fight.

I don't think Brook being ahead on the scorecards was shocking at all. Personally I had it at 2-2. You don't win rounds by hitting someone hard. As Paulie said, Brook was controlling the pace of the fight for large parts. Golovkin looked ragged and wild.

I'm not denying that Brook landed a few nice shots, but to be called a warrior after that fight? GGG didnt even flinch and as soon as he stepped on the gas he had Brook hurt. I just find these fights completely pointless, we didnt find out anything about Brook or GGG in this fight. Brook gets called a warrior for stepping up two weights, but the reality is just like Khan he only went for this fight because theres nothing to lose. He should stick to WW and fight the likes of Thurman or Garcia

how was he ahead and he cards?

It was a good effort and he got some nice shots in, but I had Brook losing every round

Pathetic decision to stop the fight. Brook's team should feel embarrassed. The Pussy Team.

Brook did well but GGG was on another level.

GGG doesn't flinch against normal middleweights, but he NEVER gets backed up and Brook was able to do that.

Brook definitely won rounds 2 and 3 btw.

Don't you think he's been trying to make those fights with Thurman and Garcia? They know how good Brook is, they won't go near him.

What a feck? He was going down in that round, and was going to get injured. In fact, in the entire round he was barely able to survive, first by showing how you shouldn't execute 'rope a dope' strategy, and then by just staying immobilized why GGG was hitting him in the face.

Good decision by his camp to stop the match, and I bet this was the plan all along (to stop the fight on the first moment he is on trouble). He wasn't going to win this fight in a million years, the entire point was making him famous as the boxer who fought GGG despite being smaller.
