I still don't know if he is doing all of this just for a show or is he depressed.

Bit of both Id guess.

I'd imagine it's quite disheartening for him to beat one of the pound for pound bests and people still dismiss him for it. Equally whenever he's interviewed he is reminded of any negative thing he's ever said (rightly or wrongly.) It probably does get annoying for him I guess.

Equally he "retires" and he still has big fights against AJ for example so its probably leverage for more money.

What row do you guys reckon Amir's chin will land on this Saturday?

It's going to be a fun fight.

Think he'll surprise a few people in the early rounds. But am expecting a Canelo KO around rounds 6-9.

I hope Khan wins. I don't particularly like him but the fight is a joke from Canelo's point of view.

Agree with @Mciahel Goodman that I think he may surprise a few people but he'll get caught and the size will be too much in the end

Hit and move (run)might work at the catchweight. Ironically, I think he stands more chance against Canelo than Cotto. Thing is, his defence has to be perfect and he has a history of getting caught. He has a chance though.

Anthony Joshua today:

"You better back it up unlike the rest of you Americans pfft"

AJ looked properly ready for an off, I really don't think AJ does games, he looked proper ready there.

Breazele looked and sounded properly fazed by it.

I reckon its all manufactured, the press conference was dull as anything then it just kicks off in the face off. I'd imagine Hearn is pushing it some what. It's an absolute shite fight to be honest, I don't blame them for taking an easy first defence a lot of boxers seem to do it but I can't get up for it at all.

I do agree, but AJ genuinely looked kind of genuinely and weirdly agitated.

Fair play to Hearn and Joshua. I'd suspect it's a very good deal for both of them. I'd be interested what they do now though. He is definitely Hearn's cash cow and he is probably one of Showtime's now as well (or he will be in a short time.) Judging by that video they're obviously portraying him as a quick knock out specialist which he has been. I hope it doesn't mean he is delayed in to being put in some tough fights for the sake of keeping an aura about him.

Golden Boy believes Canelo-Khan will do 2million buys this weekend, I pretty much forgot it was on, and I've never known a fight I could forget being on like that doing over a million. Odd they think it'll do 2million. Canelo-Cotto was bigger going in and did 900k.

Khans also getting $13m for it, makes sense now why he's done this. If he pulls off the biggest upset since well....Fury? Well worth it. Brooks still going to give him a payday if he loses.

Pretty annoying they are overkilling this jumping up 2 weight stuff, when in fact it's marginally above light middle(+1lb).

It's Cinco De Mayo weekend which is huge in Mexico and a date Mayweather has taken for the last 3 years (and done huge numbers on including vs. Pacquiao) and with Alvarez being Mexican I can see where they get their idea from. I doubt it'll do 2million but I could see it doing a million in fairness. Khan isn't a huge draw in America though it is is banking on Alvarez really.

Can't blame Khan for taking the fight it is win win for him. Even if he gets a huge knockout he has an excuse. He's already come out and said he will struggle to win any other way than points.

I might watch it in the morning I'm actually quite intrigued by it...I don't think Khan is good enough to win but I do think Alvarez is quite over rated. Hence why he's shit scared of GGG.

Can't believe I'm going to stay up and follow this joke of a fight. Khan could've stayed at 140 & tried to build a legacy from there, but he's done little but chase money in the past few years, and this fight is nothing but another step in that direction.

He has no chance. Not even a punchers chance. He is going to lose by KO, and relatively early on to boot.

I agree, its a nothing fight. I don't have a problem with Hearn going this route but no way it should be PPV as I presume it will be.

I won't stay up will just watch it when I wake up I think. Khan's career has stalled sinceh is step up. Even worse for him the 140 division has some good fighters in it now who he'd probably have some classic fights (similar to Maidana one.) I can't really blame him for wanting the money though...he could argue he's unbeaten at welterweight as well but they've hardly been classics.

Yeah it's box office. Undercard will be worth watching over the main fight.

I think he's too big for 140 now, he'll have to massively drain himself to get down to that weight.

Not purchasing any Matchroom PPV's until they're worth it. Holding us ransom only showing Matchroom fighters on sky.

Hasn't he had like 4 fights at 147? I don't really blame him for going after the money (hell, I'd probably do the same), but it's just a tad disappointing considering how promising he looked early on.

Probably, but I do feel he had more time at 140 before stepping up to 147. Was just chasing the money, I guess.

I think the last time he fought at 140 was Dec 2012. That's a long time ago.

YEah don't get me wrong mate it's not the biggest sample but he's done alright there without excelling. Also in fairness to him the 2 biggest fights he could of got were at Welter...he didn't get them but that was probably a big factor in it.

Ive not paid for 1 in a while. Been ut and watched them (and prob spent more!!) But justify to myself by saying I'd of gone out anyway.

Yeah I'm not suggesting he go back now, but there's so many exciting, legacy-building fights available for him at 147 that this jump just disappoints me greatly.

As I said, I don't blame him for taking the money, but damn, I wish he'd fight more at WW before cashing out. He could really get hurt vs Canelo.

I think he seriously considers moving back down to 147 tbh. Was worth the one time jump up for the prestige of the fight (Cinco De Mayo and the biggest boxing event of the year) and the 14M dollars lol

If I were a fighter, I'd not put myself in risk in a fight I know deep down I could never win...

... Except maybe for $14m.

I get it.

Oscar also said Canelo-Cotto would do 2m. It's a tactic they use where they throw out big numbers to make people think everyone's buying it, so that the public believe they also have to get in on the act.

I think over like 700k is a success really.

Khan's getting $13m for this. Would have made £10m vs Brook.

Losing vs Brook would probably have closed the door on this fight, though. When he loses this, the Brook fight will still be there.

Apart from Groves / Murray who else is on?

OK cheers, Groves / Murray I would like to see.

Yeah it's a good fight to be honest. Both be up for it, bit of a last chance saloon potentially!

Crolla this weekend be a good fight as well. Hope he wins. Murray is meant to be on that card as well but probably be a tune up fight.

He'll get that £10m vs Brook still win or lose here thus why it's win win for him. If someone puts this on the table, then you ain't going to say no.

I realize it's CDM weekend, but 2 million is still a reach, but if they claimed that for Canelo-Cotto, Kazi's probably got a point. I ain't buying it, will watch a repeat online when I wake up, it's no way near an event enough fight for me to watch live really. I just hate that this is a MW fight when both would be petrified to go in a ring with GGG at MW rules, the guy isn't going to catch a break when his division is mostly pumped up welters going for cheap P4P success.

He'll have to face GGG if he wins. And die in the process.
