Im wondering if this really was suicide or made to look like suicide

Regardless, RIP. Shocking waste of a talented life.

He reminded me of Paul McGrath in terms of persona, seemed a very quiet lad aswell.

His father said he'd expain his death fully "after my son is buried" so expect to hear something this week.

Something a miss about the whole thing to me. I wonder was he homesick and pressurised into staying/living in the UK

I have been looking forward to this I think Arreola will make a fight of it
I can't see him making it past 6 rounds, to be honest. I expect him to rush Vitali early, throwing bombs....but I also expect Vitali to soak it up and start tagging Nipple at will from range.

I can't envisage anything other than a KO by Vitali. I will, however, be cheering on Nipple. Do you know if Sky are screening it? I haven't seen it advertised.

Chris will go down by KO but he wont sit there ang get slapped like Peters or Gomez. I haven't seen it announced but I will b hopefully up until the day as channels sometimes keep negotiating until the last minute

I've just seen that David Haye is fighting bigfoot, that bastard is huge!!!!

Although I do enjoy the high profile fights I'm not big into boxing so forgive my ignorance, but surely he doesn't stand a chance against somebody that much bigger than him?!

Did anyone see the Tyson Fury fight the other day? A mate was telling me about it, is it worth a watch just to see how silly the outcome was?

EDIT I just read a page back, I cant stand his face so I wont bother.

Haye is fast and will hope to tire his opponent out and win on points rather than seek a stoppage victory I expect.

Fair enough.

I just had a mental image of Haye running around him in a circle and the big guy falling over dizzy like in cartoons

Valueless is a 7 foot turd. He is slow, awkward, and for a guy his size, doesn't hit particularly hard. However, he fights out of Germany, so you have to knock him out to get a draw.

He has been awarded questionable decisions against John Ruiz and a 79 year old Evander Holyfield, and lost to Chagaev (another German based guy who was handed a one sided beating by Wlad recently).

Haye needs to knock him out, because I don't believe he's getting a points decision.

I think Haye will probably be releasing about 5 shots to everyone that gets thrown at him and if he can knock him down I suspect Valuev may have difficulty getting back up.

The problem with that is, no one has managed to knock him down yet. Or even come close, to my knowledge.

The talking is now done. Both fighters have weighed-in for their heavyweight clash on Saturday at Staples Center in Los Angeles. WBC champion Vitali Klitschko weighed 252-pounds. Undefeated challenger Chris Arreola was a pound less at 251 and appeared to be in much better shape than we've seen in his last couple of fights. Both fighters have promised an action-packed contest.

251? I was hoping for 240-245. Nipple is fecked.

Vitali SMASH!

Going to be a fun tussle.

Jones Jr. vs Hopkins, what is it 16 years since their first bout?... nothing on the competative side to get excited about but you know these 2 would love to entertain the fans.

fecking hell.

It only took sixteen years to make. Both Golden Boy Promotions and Square Ring have confirmed that Roy Jones Jr. and Bernard Hopkins have signed an agreement to fight each other in early 2010. Jones won a decision over Hopkins back in 1993 to capture the vacant IBF middleweight title.

Dan Rafael was advised that a 50-50 deal is in place - but if there is a knockout, then the loser receives 40% and the winner gets 60% of the pot. The fight will only happen if Jones is able to beat IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green on December 2 in Australia.

Over the years, there were numerous negotiations to make a rematch between them. For one reason or another, the talks always fell apart.

Roid getting past Green is no given.

I am going to go out on a limb here, and predict Marquez is going to beat Mayweather, not only beat him but knock him out.
Mayweather seems to have periods in fights where he steps back and invites pressure however noone ever capitalises on it.

Da La Hoya, N'dou, Castillo (he beat Mayweather anyway) and Corley all managed to back up Mayweather but were never able to put him in real danger. Of course Mayweather superb defense comes into play, however Marquez's pin point accurate punches are in a different league to those 4 fighters and I have this sneaky feeling he will be able to catch him.

This is all however irrelevant if Marquez can’t carry extra the weight, he has never fought above 135 so its hard to tell how he will adapt, if he can't adapt to increase in weight he will be picked off and out worked handing Mayweather a easy victory.

An Mayweather win though will be good for boxing, it will set up a mega fight between the winner of Pacquiao and Cotto and go some way in creating a legacy for himself.

Oh dear, I fail, in my defence I was on the wrong side of 8 pints, you know, the high on confidence but close to making a tit of yourself stage. It was more of hope then anything, the 7/1 odds also swayed me and am £10 poorer. FML.

I was however expecting Marquez to give a better showing of himself though, wasn’t expecting a complete massacre, but the extra had weight slowed him dramatically, left for easy picking for Mayweather. I can’t see what else is left for him now, perhaps a 3rd match with Pacquiao, were Pacquiao were to lose too Cotto?

As for Mayweather, he returned to create a legacy for himself, he beat a quality lightweight, the name on his record is a achievement , but not much considering the weight. Surely he now he only has his eyes for Pacquiao, Mosley and Cotto.

Klitschko v Arreola, don’t think it will go the distance, should be a jab fest from Klitschko, even the 10/1 odds for Arreola can’t persuade me, though I am currently sober..

Well, Nipple lasted longer than I thought he would. Lost every round, fight stopped after the tenth.

Dropped some tasty F-bombs in the post fight interview.

If Shane Mosley thought last weekend's stunt will lure Floyd Mayweather Jr. into a fight - he was wrong. Following Floyd's dominating win over Juan Manuel Marquez last Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Mosley and his Golden Boy Promotions partner Bernard Hopkins entered the ring. A war of words broke out between Mosley/Hopkins and Mayweather.

"I guess Bernard Hopkins told Shane Mosley to get in the ring and be disrespectful but like I said before, Shane Mosley is a good fighter, I wish him nothing but the best in his career and the only thing I want to do is continue to be the best I can be in my career," said Mayweather.

Mayweather said Mosley blew his chance at a fight in 1999 and once again in 2006. Mayweather points to age as the reason for Mosley pressing so hard for the fight.

"In 1999, we tried to fight Shane 10 years ago and he turned the fight down and then in 2006 when he fought Fernando Vargas, right after the fight he said he had a toothache and he wanted to go on vacation with his family. I guess now that he's 38 and his career is coming to an end and everybody knows they can make huge money with Floyd Mayweather, everybody is shooting shots at me. But I wish Shane Mosley nothing but the best in his career," Mayweather said.

"I'm fighting JMM, not Pac, because JMM called me out." "You want me, just say my name."

Klitschko well impressed me the other night. So much more entertaining to watch than Wlad as well.

How many times do you see a heavyweight stood in front of a fighter with his hands by his waist like that, barely getting caught for the whole fight? His footwork is amazing for someone his size. The more I see of Vitali post-comeback, the less chance I think Haye has of beating him. He'll probably be able to keep Haye on the outside and force him to take chances. Unlike his brother, he also has a solid chin, and even someone with as much power as Haye will have difficulty hurting him. A fight with Wlad is winnable if he plays his cards right, but I think Vitali would knock him out.

Prizefighter: The Heavyweights, tonight. Here's hoping Fraudley Embarrison gets KO'd in the first round.

I heard him talking the other day about how he has been "kept down" since he turned pro, how everyone was against him. He has a "story" to tell when the truth will be revealed. I can give the world a sneak preview, Fraudley. Major EXCLUSIVE! here.

You aren't very good.

This guy redefines "delusional."

Well done Fraudley you won against possibly the worst bunch of fighters I have ever seen assembled on one night, would have only been interesting had Williams not had another night of forgetting how to box.

Anyone watching Prizefighter. Williams is out already i think. Harrison is fighting some nordie. Technically probably the worst boxing Ive ever seen!!!
Ali did 'bum a month' but that looked like a bum every 20 minutes.

Suppose nobody knows anywhere I can catch up with the Tua v/s Cameron match then?
The Tuaman destroyed him.

After several years of trash talk and multiple postponements, the New Zealand "fight of the century" was held at the Mystery Creek Events Centre. In his first fight in over two years, heavyweight David Tua (50-3, 43KOs) returned to the ring and crushed his hometown rival Shane Cameron (23-2, 20KOs) in two rounds.

Some were afraid the fight might turn into a mismatch, and that's exactly what they got. Tua came out with a fury in the first round, hurting Cameron with a hook and dropping him twice before the round was over. Cameron was saved by the bell but he never recovered. Tua jumped on him with an arsenal of punches in the second round to force the stoppage.

Tua was in shape and looked like the Tua of old. He wants a title shot in 2010.

Cheers for that. Ref let that go too long imo but Tua was clinical.

Tua looked great, albeit against fairly soft opposition. Then again the majority of the current heavyweight division is shite, so here's hoping he can stay motivated and do some damage. Always loved that guy. He's an animal when fit and motivated, and a tough bastard too. I'd give him a decent shot against everyone apart from Vitali. His lack of foot speed might be a problem against decent movers like Haye and Wlad, but he'll decapitate them if he connects with either of those chins. The referee let the fight go on far too long on Saturday though. That poor bastard Cameron could have been badly hurt.

Savage knockout, that. Tua is one hard fecker. I'm glad he's back, a lacklustre heavyweight division can only benefit from an exciting fighter like him being back on the scene. In fact, I'm really liking the idea of a Haye vs. Tua match up some time in the future...

Anyway, in unrelated news I just read that Mosley vs. Berto has been confirmed for late January. Should be a cracker. Finally a chance to see exactly what Berto is made of, although I think he'll struggle against Shane (who's defo still one of the greatest fighters around, even at the ripe old age of 38).

I'd love to see Tua vs Haye, although from Haye's standpoint its a bad fight to take at this stage. Tua is (rightly) seen as old and semi-retired, but stylistically its a very dangerous fight for Haye. He could be winning every second of every round, but with those low hands and his habit of taking risks defensively you'd have to think Tua will catch him eventually.

Anybody watching Vasquez or Lopez later?

Holy feck. Jorge Linares just got starched in one minute by a Mexican fighter called Salgado. Linares has looked a top prospect too although his opposition has been shite lately. It'll be interesting to see how he comes back from this, and to see if Salgado is something more than a one-hit wonder.

First Ortiz, now Linares. Goldenboy are taking it in the ass.
