Mayweather playing games again; he really has no shame. Understandably he is worried about Maidana's power so he is trying to get him to use gloves with extra padding (usually reserved for boxers with hand injuries).

I highly doubt that he is worried. Mayweather tries to gain every single advantage that he can when he fights. Maidana is probably the most overmatched fighter that Floyd has fought in a while. Mayweather looks for opponents that have a little bit of hype around them but who are stylisically ideal for him. Maidana is a perfect, a lamb to the slaughter, yet the press and fans will hail the brilliance of Mayweather when the inevitable happens. You don't need to fix fights when you make the right ones.

@Lance Uppercut

It is a bit odd to say that Maidana's power is overrated. He has 31 KOs in 35 fights. He has little boxing ability and has gotten to a world class level on the back of his power and toughness. I think against Khan he struggled to land cleanly as Khan stuck and moved. Maidana fights sloppy and displays poor balance. It still ended up as a minor miracle that Khan survived that fight too as he was in serious trouble at times. A few people point to the presence of a certain someone in his corner as way of explanation for his amazing powers of recovery in that fight. Powers that have deserted him in recent times.

I think Wilder's power is overrated, too, and he has KO'd 31 out of 31.

Just to expand on my view, here are the better guys that Maidana has fought.

Khan - lost a decision

Lopez - won by KO

Alexander - lost a decision

Kotelnik - lost a split decision

Chop Chop - won a decision

Ortiz - won by TKO

Morales - won by decision

Broner - won by decision

Do you see where I am coming from?

Wilder is a massive puncher but he has fought no one of any note and looks a terrible boxer technically. His power isn't overrated. It is immense but when he fights someone who can show him angles, keep him off balance and hit him on his weak chin; he is going to lose. It is hardly a valid comparison anyway.

Maidana operates at a world class level. He doesn't even make the most of his power because of his poor boxing ability. He is a brut force fighter, he batters his opponents into submission. I think his power is immense but he won't be able to get to Mayweather.

So you think that a fighter only has legitimate power if he knocks out every world class opponent he ever faces? Maidana failed to stop those guys because he isn't a very good boxer. He is a one trick pony. In terms of pure punching power his is in the top 10 P4P in the world for me. If he had technique of the quality of a Golovkin then I believe that he would be stopping a lot of those guys.

My point about Wilder was, knocking out shitbags doesn't mean you have massive power. So yeah, you obviously overrate it.

I remember Jose Sulaiman called Vitali the biggest puncher in the history of the HW division because of his KO percentage. Is he? Of course not.

His power isn't overrated. Better boxers don't let him get set and they throw back shots to trouble him. Robert Garcia said that he was far too easy to hit when he came to him and that had never been taught the basics properly. That he has reached the level he has is a testament to his power.

We will agree to disagree, otherwise, this will be a train wreck.

Yes. It seems sensible.

Khan - Collazo is the interesting fight for me. I just don't know who will win. Khan should but he seems to refuse to fight a sensible fight these days.

Precisely because of that, I fancy Collazo. Khan is stepping up in weight, it remains to be seen if Hunter has improved him and, as you say, he has a tendency to fight like an idiot.

I do believe he has the ability to outbox Collazo and win a decision. It remains to be seen if he has the discipine.

Watching highlights of the Broner-Maidana fight and this Broner guy is a right dick

Edit: I'd laugh if Maidana does that same move to Floyd!!

Broner is a cocksucker. Maidana brutalising him was one of the funniest things I have ever seen

About billions? What a f*cking twat.

Got this on at the side now, looking forward to seeing Khan as well as the main fight. Can't see Maidana winning this, Floyd obviously picked him against what people wanted anyway, which was Khan. But then Mayweather said he was going to fight in the UK for a big event and for his fans but never has, full of it.

Regarding the big fight at the end of the month at Wembley... watched the press conference the other day where Groves was doing a Rubicks cube when Froch started talking, and finished it. Adam Smith and Hearne looking to the side smiling as if to to say WTF, also the press all taking pics of George not Froch who was talking. Wonder if he'll nail him again in the mind games or if the sports psychologist Froch has apparently been to and his brother he's got to heckle Groves will overcome it this time. Boxing is back!

I hope Broners tongue gets chopped off by a Mexican now

Looool he wants to fight Manny Pacquiao

Very disciplined from Khan in fairness, good and easy win for him.

Killed off any moment Collazo was getting early on and deserved it entirely. Nice win for him.
