Fight was dead for me anyway.

There was always a slight chance however this really has killed it. Money will not want Pacman to take anything more than 30% now.

That knockout will be gif'ed and use for some time.

I am well and truly gutted.

I know he's not the same fighter, but god damn it's horrible to watch your favorites go down like that.

Would be a bit weak if he did, it would be better for him to pass it by. It looks from the post fight interviews that there is some appetite for Manny - Marquez V.

fight with Mayweather is dead now Manny brings nothing to the table still potentially dangerous (although believe Floyd would of won anytime) on the back of 2 defeats and a brutal KO to a man Floyd beat easy.

But as for a fifth fight I wouldn't mind seeing more of that.

What do you make of the doping rumours surrounding Marquez prior to this fight? He made unbelievable power gains, dropping a guy he had never significantly hurt in three previous fights, like he had never been dropped before. All with a convicted elite level steroid dealer working as his strength and conditioning coach.

I would like to know who the other 8 fighters that Angel Hernandez is offering the same service to, as he won't name them. There has been other fighters making incredible strength gains recently too.

I really don't know if I am to be honest I hadn't heard anything of it untill I saw a article from roach making claims earlier in the week, I have to say I've never seen Marquez hitting quite like that but since Pac man is also someone who has been accused if they had issues with the people in his camp maybe they should of opted for the more strict testing rules that Mayweather is always banging on about.

I am assuming here that they never although like I say I had ignored pretty much everything on this fight up untill the last week.

This is an article from Kevin Iole on the issue, written prior to the fight.

I think Floyd will push for the fight now, he loves to take fighters on their way out.

Very sad to see Pacquiao doing what hes doing now, nowhere near the same level, he was actually in a great position in that fight, but to walk in and leave yourself exposed against a great counter puncher is just stupid. Should have stuck to boxing and left politics and the rest of it to someone else.

Bit of a harsh statement really. Mayweather fought Hatton, De La Hoya, Moseley before Pacquaio, he also recently beat Marquez (which in fairness is after 3 Pac Man fights) so it's not like he just fights scraps left over, if anything you could argue it's the other way round with a lot of the fighters. Mayweather's fights against Castillo, Corralles, Gatti and N'Dou when they were all very good fighters.

I don't think anyone knows the true reasons for the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight, there's probably been times when Pac wants it and Mayweather doesn't but then there's probably been times when it's the other way round. If it did come down to money then Mayweather probably did have a point, he was unbeaten and him potentially losing is an attraction to a lot of money. Either way it's a shame it never happened.

Just watched the fight and I'm shocked. Marquez could not hurt Pacquiao in three fights and now this! I'm I wrong to be cynical about this? Or just give the guy his due?

Wasn't massively surprised at the result, but was very surprised at the manner of it. At least what ive heard of it. Yet to see the footage. Going for a gander now.

It's hard for us to really know which one of Manny or Mayweather was ducking. My money would prob be on Mayweather though. Manny didn't have to fight this guy again, especially considering he'd beating Manny at least twice previous for my money.

I swear the fight was more or less on but fell flat because of drug testing disagreements from Manny's camp?

What a hit!!

I thought Marquez would win but was hoping Manny would get the win and keep alive hopes of a fight with Floyd. I doubt that fight will happen now.

From what I read, they eventually agreed to the extensive drug testing but then Mayweather started making demands for more money rather than a 50-50 split. There was also a lawsuit against Floyd which didn't help things.

Manny was on SSN a few days ago and he said he's agreed to everything, including drug testing and taking less than 50% - according to him it's up to Floyd if he wants the fight or not.

Well naturally he's going to say that, I think both of them were ducking it to be honest.

Floyd would have fought (and beat) him earlier regardless.

I've always said exactly that, but my point is that if Manny boxes on then he will realise that he is a fighter on the wain, so will be more likely to accept a less than 50/50 split which is where I think the fight has always hit a hitch.

a 60/40 or even 70/30 split with Floyd would still see the biggest payday of his career for a fighter who is beginning to look like he's going through the motions. I've always said floyd is clearly the better boxer and and if a 100% Floyd faces a 100% Manny then Floyd wins comfortably on points.

What I am now saying is that the fight for me becomes more likely because Manny looks to me like a fighter heading toward retirement in at most the next 2-3 fights, therefore as such a dominant fighter he will not want to leave the sport on the back of 2 losses. As well as that the fighter in him will want to reassert some of the reputation he has in the sport before he leaves the sport with the added bonus of a huge final payday. That for me leaves only one real option and thats Floyd and I now believe he will accept a lesser split because of his recent track record.

For Floyd of course there isn't much other than a huge payday to be gained at this point, but according to 50 cent he isn't as rich as he makes out and he's always made money his master so an evenning of what he might now see as easy work might be on the cards.

The drug testing hasn't been an issue for a couple of years now. After Manny agreed to the testing Floyd came out saying that he wanted more money than Pac for the fight. Manny has been saying for a while now that he can he the greater share of the purse too.

Pacquiao's initial refusal to take the test hindered the fight being made originally but those issues are long past. It is Mayweather who has been the major problem in making the fight.

wow, never thought i would see manny go out like that, although if you get hit in the right spot theres nothing you can do about it, no matter how good your chin is.

Even still, amongst Mannys drug allegations against him, over the last few years, there no boxer that looks more suspicious then Marquez. The way he has been able to put on so much pure muscle on and now the develop one punch ko power at 40 years old does look very dubious. Even with all the cynicism surrounding Mannys rise, he has always been a KO puncher.

The knockdown in the 3rd round was probably the most surprising, he had hardly hit Manny upto that point and when he saw his opening leaped across with over hand right, a shot that although looked strong , he had hit manny with much better, harder looking shots in the previous 3 fights with little damaging effective. Maybe Mannys just on a faster decline once thought, however if it does turn out Marquez is doping (if we were even to ever find out) the ramifications will be huge.

Just watched this again. This fight was dodgy as feck. No way Marquez suddenly gets that type of power.

Being trained by a convicted felon who cheated to help many boxers and all of a sudden Marquez has developed great power & can knock down/out Pacman while he couldn't in previous fights. Hmmm. Sounds a bit fishy to me.

As for Floyd, he was always scared of losing his precious zero and this result will just make it easier for him to dodge Pacman by making more unreasonable demands. Real champions don't avoid fighting the toughest contenders, they embrace the challenge. Floyd embraces his zero.

Not dodgy I would say, but Marquez had looked better than ever, and that's a huge thing when you are almost 40 years old. Look at his fight against Floyd, and his fight now. Body wise is just ridiculous, immensely suspicious, but proves nothing.

Was a great fight, and apart from the knockdown (very well worked by Marquez, hitting low to the body for three rounds, and then faking a bodyshot, having Manny trying to escape just to meet a over the top right hand, was brilliant), Pacquiao had the dominance of the fight, including the a knockdown on Marquez with a straight left. On the 5th round, he destroyed JMM's face, apparently with a broken nose too.

He was doing very well again in the 6th, rocking Marquez one time, and connecting a lot of power, but right in the end, he made the mistake of jumping the gun on one of the best counters in the game. Was enough. What a hit by Marquez, but what a screw up for Manny. He should've known better.

The only thing is that was clear to me, is that Pacquiao didn't seem to have the same power. Sometimes he hit, and JMM didn't even blinked. And seemed a tiny bit slower too. But he was very much on the top of the fight, Marquez was hurt and showing.

A 2009 German documentary featuring Juan Manuel Marquez's strength and conditioning coach 'Angel Memo Hernandez' , in it he talks about doping, injects himself with EPO and shows how easy it is to buy PED's in Mexico.

He also works with Usain Bolt.

Incredibly the only drug test that the Nevada boxing commission enforces is directly after the fight and according to Victor Conte, they do not test for EPO, HGH or synthetic testosterone.

Conte also said this about 'Angel Hernandez'

'I have no axe to grind w/ Memo because he has done nothing to me. I'm for clean sport now & believe he is highly suspicious'

'My opinion. There needs to be an Interpol investigation of Memo HRT'

I couldn't believe those pics of Marquez. That kind of superhuman physique at his age means PEDs. No question...

Conte claims to have never met him or worked with him in the past. You would be a fool to trust Conte, he claims to want to clean up sport and still works with boxers and other athletes. Nonito Donaire is one fighter who works with him, however, Donaire has signed up for 365/24/7 VADA random testing. If you were of a cynical outlook then you would say that if anyone would know how to beat the VADA test, then it would be Conte.

Personally I can not understand why any athlete would want to be associated with either man.

How the feck can this be true? EPO cleans the system in like a day or so, and HGH / Testo transform the body radically. For what do they test fighters? Creatine and marijuana? WTF?!

Well Chavez Jr recently failed a post fight test for weed, so they definitely have that one covered!

The long and short of it is that the tests implemented by the boxing commissions are an absolute joke, they do next to nothing to combat doping. Recently a few high profile fighters were caught out by VADA testing. I think that it is safe to assume that doping is rife in boxing.

It is a shame that Bob Arum claims that 'drug testing should be left to the commissions'. Promoters and fighters are the only ones who can really do anything about this. Arum was planning Pacquiao - Marquez V while Manny was still unconscious. After that sensational fight there is mega money to be made again. Arum cares about one thing and one thing only - money. Sadly Manny is close to being broke so he will be boxing on for a while yet.

How the hell has Manny ended up nearly broke? Must have made a few mill at the weekend alone.

Wasn't impressed by Gamboa Jimy. Looked too easy to hit, though was flashy. Is he normally like that or was there a bit of ring rust? On the contrary, Barker came back looking as good, if not better, than ever.

Pacquiao's entourage from California to Vegas consisted of 30 vehicles and one was a bus! He employs shit loads of people/leachers and he gives a lot of money to the poor. He goes though his money like nobodies business.

Gamboa definitely has chin issues, he was very badly hurt at one point in that fight. He reminds me of Nas with that cocky reckless style that makes him easy to hit. That said Nas faced some big punchers and never suffered more than a flash knockdown.

Gamboa is exciting but I don't think that will be the next superstar. What an entrance by 50 Cent too, fecking egomaniac.
