The way I see it, if Khan legitimately believes there was some foul play involved (and on current evidence everyone has to admit that it, at best, looks slightly dodgy) he has every right to fight his corner and chase it up. I imagine any other sportsmen would would do the same if they were in his shoes.

He's pretty much looking nailed on to get a rematch regardless now, where as Peterson wanted to take on other challenges, so in that respect, it has been more then worthwhile for Khan.

look at 7th round, scores seem to be switched

Obviously just put the 10-8 in the wrong way round and a genuine mistake unless anyone could explain how khan could win a round 10-8 where not only was he second best but had a point deducted.

Another tease I can see what will happen. Arum to come out say no fight in May, then blame Floyd for why the fight won't happen.

'Manny Pacquiao I'm calling you out let's fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see.

'My Jail Sentence [sic] was pushed back because the date was locked in. Step up Punk.'

Ball's in your court, Arum!

Arum: Maybe May 5th isn’t a good date for Pacquiao-Mayweather; Pacquiao has a serious cut

Mayweather sentenced to 90 days, Arum starts to look at opponents for "May or June."

Mayweather's sentence postponed to June 1st, Arum says Manny won't fight until June.

Dan Rafael Arum sounded very surprised by the news of Mayweather's continuance. Says now Manny "likely" to go in June. Didnt sound interested in Floyd.

Plus both other judges gave the same round 10-8 to Peterson, so I don't think there's anything dodgy there. However, this whole mystery man thing leaves a big question mark. He had no place being there. And IBF said tonight this guy, Mustafa Ameen, doesn't work for them.

I originally thought Mayweather was ducking Manny but now it seems Arum won't let his precious boxer fight. Pacquiao should man up & tell Arum to make it happen, there are no excuses left.

Pacquiao interview from yesterday. This happened before Mayweather's recent comment (not that it matters).

“I‘ve said this over and over before and I’m saying this again,I want Floyd Mayweather Jr. to be my next opponent and I haven’t changed my choice despite recent developments.”
Thus World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao declared by way of reacting to reports in media partly blaming him should the projected mega-fight not materialize.

“I am meeting with my promoter, Bob Arum on Tuesday and I will insist that the fight with Mayweather be given the preference than the four others in the list I will fight next,” Pacquiao told this writer in Tagalog in a long distance telephone conversation yesterday from General Santos City.

Asked where and what time his meeting with Arum, will be held, except to say that the American Hall of Fame promoter is arriving today .

“It’s not really fair for some quarters to blame me if, in the long run, the fight wouldn’t push through,” the 33-year-old RING MAGAZINE pound-for-pound best quipped. “As I have also been saying many times before, I fight for the fans. I want the fans to be happy always.”

"Whoever the fans want me to fight, I will face him atop the ring. I don’t choose fight. It is my promoter who does because it’s his job. My job is to fight, everybody must realize that,” Pacquiao, a lawmaker, a singer, movie actor, television host and a columnist, emphasized.

“Whoever says I’m ducking this fighter or that fighter, doesn’t know me, or just plainly wants to put me in bad light,” he surmised. “I never dodged from fighting anybody. If I did, I won’t be where I am now.”

The Pacquiao-Mayweather confrontation, the fight all of the boxing world wants to see, looked to have cleared of the impediments that aborted previous tries for it to materialize after Nevada Justice of the Peace Judge Melissa Saragosa deferred the unbeaten American welterweight 90-day incarceration she herself handed down shortly before year 2011 ended.
Statements coming from Arum though beclouded its realization in May as Mayweratherr himself wants leading every Tom, Dick and Harry to finger-pointing and blaming all those concerned, including the eight-division kingpin. The Harvard graduate Arum wants the Pacquiao-Mayweather showdown held in November instead.

One of the arguments Arum advanced was that since the fight could be biggest in the history of boxing in terms of economics, he wants the fight held in a bigger arena he’s proposing to be constructed in the sing city of Las Vegas rather than the MGM Grand the World Boxing 147-pound belt holder had, in fact, reserved.

“After we’ve met, there will be negotiations between my promoters and his counterpart in whoever I’m going to fight. And you and I know that many things can happen in a negotiation,” he related. “If we agree that I will face Mayweather, then my promoter will talk to his counterpart in the Mayweather camp.”

When Arum sits in the negotiation table, he will be laying on the table all the conditions we want, which , everybody knew already are simple. That I will abide by his demand for drug testing. I am even agreeable to get lesser purse just so the fight would push through,” he recalled. “In other words, as far as my side is concerned, there will be no problem.”

“We know, too, that Mayweather has no promoter. He negotiates by himself. So if the fight won’t be realized, it’s no longer because of me,” Pacquiao said.

PACQUIAO WANTS MAYWEATHER BOUT

I bolded the most interesting parts. Seems like Pacquiao knows that it's Arum that's holding things up. Hopefully he really does insist on it and forces the fight to happen.

Regardless, I'm glad Floyd called him out. Manny just said [again] that he'll take the test unconditionally, and apart from that he's willing to take a smaller purse. So as long as Arum doesn't feck it up again, all Floyd has to do is sign.

perhaps now Khan and his camp and shut the feck up and get on with the rematch.
I dont think he deserves the rematch and I thought he was beat fairly.
I cant stand Khan and hope his gets battered this time so there is no doubt in the result , but I have to admit that he does have some skill and if he put the same effort in to the fight has he did in getting the rematch then he should win with ease.

It's not going to happen is it?

Shame. I hate boxing for stuff like this.

WBA confirms Amir Khan has been granted a rematch with Lamont Peterson …

Get the feck in, hope Khan destroys him as he should have done the first time round... then hopefully put this whole episode behind him.

Interesting that Pacman's agreed to Mayweather's drug testing & even a smaller purse. Hope Arum doesn't feck this up, the old cnut.

Latest article I have read says the issue seems to be that Pacquiao's team wants the fight to be in a new stadium being built in Vegas, but it will not be completed until the end of May. Pacman has said he's happy with 50-50.

feck Showtime in their stupid ears.

According to Eddie Hearn, promoter for super middleweight Carl Froch, Showtime has rejected a potential April fight with IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (30-0, 24KOs). The two sides were discussing a potential two-fight deal, with the first coming on April 14th in Montreal and the second time place in August in Nottingham.

Hearn told TVA Sports that Showtime, who have Bute under contract, would prefer to have the Canadian champion fight an American opponent in his next televised match.

"We discussed the fight with Interbox and we even received a draft of the contract. Both boxers want to fight, but I was told Showtime would like to have Bute face an American. They control the situation because they distribute the money. The two sides have agreed, but we can not do anything more for now," Hearn said.

Any word on why yet? I know nothing official, but anyone got any reliable ears to the ground? Quite shocked to hear this tonight.

Perhaps they have already agreed a rematch with Peterson's people, meaning an appeal wasn't required.

Or Khan's people may have agreed a fight with someone completely different. Floyd is in the market for an opponent, and Khan has made no secret of his desire to fight him...

At any rate, the WBA have demanded a rematch, so if Peterson goes in a different direction, and Khan still wants that fight, Peterson will be stripped, and Khan will likely fight 'to be announced' for the vacant title.

Wait and see, basically.

I'm ready to fight Pacquiao 5/5/12 Bob Arum know the date can't change I have my guarantee call Schaefer & Al and stop lying to the public

Hmmm was looking forward to that. Maybe they don't wanna risk a potential Bute-Ward match up.

For what it's worth I think Froch would get handily beaten again, so maybe it's a good thing.

I think it was a mistake to try to push it through as a double header, too. If Froch gets battered in the first fight, who really wants to see a second? Maybe that's why they're not interested.

Wouldn't mind seeing Froch against Pavlik instead.

During a media interview with BoxingScene.com and a select group of writers, WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. shot down the three rumored options for May 5th - WBA junior welterweight champion Miguel Cotto, WBC junior welterweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, and former champion Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero. Mayweather is scheduled to fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, on May 5th, and he made it clear that WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao is the only opponent on his mind.

"There are so many young and strong champions out there, that I don't really know at this particular time [who I'll fight outside of Pacquiao]. There have been a few names thrown out there. But as far as the guy they're saying, "The Ghost" - absolutely not. I'm not going to give the fans nothing like that. I don't even know who this guy, but I wish him the best," Mayweather said.

"I think Cotto is a very good matchup, but once again, if I go against Cotto the fans and people will say that it's Pacquiao's leftovers. He's still a strong, solid champion in my eyes. When he fought Pacquiao, they fought at a catch-weight [of 145-pounds]. If we fight Cotto I would want him to be comfortable, where both guys are happy. I think Canelo would be a big fight, but I think he needs some more experience under his belt and then eventually we can make the fight happen down the line. Right now my main focus is Manny Pacquiao. Team Pacquaio, stop having your excuses. I have my guarantee, so let's make the fight happen. Every day I'm tweeting and tweeting and tweeting. Do I have to tweet again tonight? I'm basically chasing the guy."

Freddie Roach said he doesn't think the fight will happen in May as 'it's too soon'. He reckons it will happen in November.

Also added that Mayweather has been ducking Pacquaio for a few years and he's now 'talking shit' on twitter.

Edit: apparently Floyd and Manny spoke on the phone to each other. I hope this fight happens in may and arum doesn't make any excuses.

Floyd Mayweather was doing so well in the PR battle. He had the backing of the social media from his callout of Manny Pacquiao and he had Bob Arum making terrible excuses about why this fight could not be made. I would have to believe that most of the country thought that Arum was the biggest roadblock for making the biggest fight in history. And then this happens. Floyd emails one of the anchors on SportsCenter about the phone conversation he had with Manny Pacquiao.

"He asked about a 50/50 split and I told him no that can't happen, but what can happen is you can make more money fighting me than you have made in your whole career. I also let him know I'm in control on my side but he needs to get on the same page with his promoter so we can make this fight happen."

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao: Mayweather Won't Give Pacquiao a 50-50 Split - Bad Left Hook

-------------------------

Unreasonable demand from Mayweather. Floyd will also make more money fighting Pacman than Floyd's ever made in his whole career. Both will. Both are considered the top 2, so a 50/50 split is reasonable. First his blood testing conditions, and now this. I hope this shit gets resolved soon. Greedy cnuts.

Hopkins/Dawson rematch is on. Let's hope we get a decent fight this time.

By Rick Reeno

BoxingScene.com has been advised by Gary Shaw, promoter for Chad Dawson (30-1, 17KOs), that a deal has been reached with Golden Boy Promotions for a rematch with WBC light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins (52-5-2, 32KOs). The rematch will take place on April 28th in Atlantic City. The fight will be televised on regular HBO, and not pay-per-view, according to Shaw.

They first met at California's Staples Center last October. The fight came to an early end in the second round. Dawson ducked under an incoming Hopkins, and used his shoulder to push the veteran off. Hopkins fell to the mat and suffered a shoulder injury. Initially, the fight was ruled as a second round TKO victory for Dawson. The WBC refused to recognize the verdict and returned the title to Hopkins. Soon after, Hopkins filed an appeal with the California State Athletic Commission, which resulted in the official verdict being overturned to a no-contest.

At last December's 49th annual convention in Las Vegas, the WBC ordered an immediate rematch between Hopkins and Dawson. The purse bid was scheduled for this coming Friday.
