The Reality Draft: Main Thread (Finals)

Torn between two options so I'll stop wasting time and just go with my personal favourite: Zvonimir Boban

@MJJ @Theon

:lol: There's been a lot of talk of how to make results more fair, how to reduce the impact of scan voters, etc. I don't mind this change however I think if we are to stick with it it would be good to include former managers and regulars in the double vote category. For example in this draft yourself, Gio, Cutch, Pat Mustard etc can easily be included.
I always found that scan voters are treated very disrespectful, they deserve more credit than they get (even though they can be infuriating). I'm happy to be a scanvoter here and don't really care about my vote counting half. I think it's a great rule, I'd keep it. The only interesting question is if assistant managers count double as well, e.g. how do you handle the Theon/MJJ team when it comes to voting.

Actually EAP had said there would be no assistants in this, the MJJ-Theon case was an exception due to the whole situation with Chester. I have no idea how that would be dealt with. EAP stated there would be "scouts" and their votes would not be counted but I never figured out what exactly is a scout. :lol:

I guess @Edgar Allan Pillow needs to make a call on this.

On one occassion, years earlier, the German disciplinarian Hennes Weisweiller informed Elkjær that he knew the player had visited a nightclub in the company of a bottle of whiskey and a lady. Elkjaer responded that it was all a lie. It had been a bottle of vodka. And two ladies.

@Skizzo

@Edgar Allan Pillow can you sub out a youth player during the match?

I get that scout votes don't count in games with their own teams. But do they count as managers or as scanvoters in games without their team playing?

Same here, in a draft like the 40s,50s,etc I understand as most of the players are unknown quantity but it seems snobbish to treat those voters as lesser votes in normal drafts.

Nice pick. If I am not wrong, Croatia never lost a game when Boban scored.

Yep, but to be fair he wasn't exactly a prolific goalscorer and none of his international goals were against particularly strong opponents. Magnificent player though :drool:

On phone so I can't update the list.

Need a right back so I'll take an immense one who is still left.

Volodymyr Bezsonov

@Jayvin

Was sure that neither he nor Kaltz would be around for me to pick them in the last round. Great player

I absolutely love this team, think it's my favourite of all the ones I've been in.

The problem with the scan voters is that you can never be sure if the are voting for the name or for the game. In this draft the scan voters get the same 1 vote they've always got. I think the managers drive the conversation around most of the match thread and so get a bonus vote.

The 2 exception to this will be posters like Pat_Mustard and Brwned who rarely participate in drafts of recent times and ex-managers like yourself and rpitroda who just are not in this draft. I was thinking of compiling a list with these 2 buckets of posters together to give them the bonus vote, but I just took too much work...and I think the resulting list will cause more controversy as it clearly tries to push scan voters out. So just stuck with bonus for playing managers this draft for simplicity sake.

Difficult to call. I will just act obtuse and all bureaucratic here and give the (bonus) vote to MJJ as he is the manager. Theon gets treated as a scout and cannot vote in his team games and for other games gets treated as scan voter.

Theon...I know this is not fair to the efforts you put in, but hope you are fine with this!

In my opinion and although I'm a newbie to this, guys like Brwned etc deserve more weight in their votes and it is an incentive to scan voters to take a greater interest in these threads and get involved not a deterrence i.e. get more involved and you'll be given more weight in your vote.

I agree, but there is no list to be had to figure out who those guys are. Leave it an open pool will just be disaster in game play.

Yeah not for this draft, but before the next one - group discussion on what type of posters merit an extra vote. Creating voter rulers midway through a draft isn't sensible but I do believe such a rule will enhance the popularity of future drafts rather than damage it.

So this is how round 1 looks with the addition of a keeper still to come. Mauro Silva would replace Strootman in round 2.

I am happy with that tbf.

Bezsonov, not Beszonov, it's actually a very big difference :nono:

If that is the only talking point about my side then I don't quite know how to react.

Well, your left flank (all left half, actually, including Passarella and Davids) looks impressive, but I have my doubts about your attacking potential on the right - Beszonov is the only one who I rate there attacking-wise but he is still firstly a fullback.

If I were you I would try to replace Camoranesi (sorry btw) before Strootman.

Really nice balance to that side, Stobz.

So with the teams nearly completed who will be trying WM? I've given up on it unfortunately :(

I already have the replacement for Strootman, it kills me to leave Mauro on the bench but the rules dictate it must happen.

---Rivaldo-Elkjaer-Totti---
------Souness-Bochini--
------Campbell--Mcgrath
Rodriguez-Sammer--Di livio

Bonus point galore. :drool:

Any thoughts? I wanted to have something remotely resembling today's Madrid attack, Blokhin is my main striker, who's formal starting position is on the left. I shouldn't be lacking goals as Blokhin overall scored 283, Ortiz scored 214 and Bergkamp scored 272. But if anything, I have Krankl, probably on the bench, who scored 434+ with an outstanding goal/game ratio.

My defensive game hugely depends on Stielike's football intelligence but it's one of his outstanding qualities, so it shouldn't be a problem

I like it

Well since we are posting teams, this will be my final team, with a striker to be picked next round, and I'll keep the option of using Savicevic as the RiF and shove Kalle to the striker position, depends on the opposition.

Mmm.. That was my first instinct too because Breitner is left footed, but I want that linkup between Breitner-Rummenigge
Someone should have told him that. What a player he would have been if only he knew that he was passing and shooting with his weaker foot throughout his career.

Swap Seedorf and Breitners positions IMO.
Makes no sense to me, Breitnigge was always right sided and Seedorf played his best football as a left sided box to box midfielder, why would you want to swap them?
