Germany actually has a history of rightfooted leftbacks since the 70's . Breitner, Briegel, Brehme, Lahm. Brehme turned into the perfect two footed player, so it didn't really matter and Breitner and Lahm moved to the right side later in their career, Breitner in midfield and Lahm in defense, but they were all basically make-shift leftbacks, because we sucked at finding quality left footed fullbacks. Schnellinger was the last one, and even today the most promising leftback in Germany is probably Durm, who's again rightfooted.I could've swore he was a lefty! This is like an epiphany to me
Makes no sense to me, Breitnigge was always right sided and Seedorf played his best football as a left sided box to box midfielder, why would you want to swap them?
How highly do you rate Schnellinger, out of interest? I've usually seen him rated among the highest echelons of defenders in the history of the game and possibly the best left sided German defender. I probably haven't seen more from him during his peak years than you have. He is highly rated and from what I've read and seen, he'd be my left sided centerback in an alltime German team if I chose a back five (I probably wouldn't though). Something like 'Brehme Schnellinger Beckenbauer Kohler Lahm' with Breitner and Matthäus in midfield. I thought he was still excellent in '70 as a sweeper for Germany, but from what my grandfather told me, he was already past his best and a totally different beast in the early to mid 60's. It's a bit difficult to judge him from the available footage of the World Cup in '62, which was probably his standout year. How highly do you rate Schnellinger, out of interest? I've not seen much of him. Do remember watching the European Cup semi final of 1969 and George Best gave him a nice run around.
Yes, it's too late. @antohan 's wrath will rain down on you and Viva for the suggestion to move Breitner to the left when Rummenigge is on the right, nothing you can do about it other than postingSorry, what I meant to say was "great team Viva, everyone is in their correct position and that Breitnigge combo will be awesome".
Is it too late to delete my post?

I'm here. I'll keep my sub option for late on since I DO believe in the relevance of keepers.
I'll take Shmeichel
Oh feck missed it
He might not be the best keeper available, but I want his leadership and heart. I'll take my personal favorite - Van der Sar
Nope, definitely not. Feel sorry for him, but with Beckenbauer in defense and Matthäus and Breitner in midfield, Sammer ends up on the bench.Your all time eleven wouldn't include Sammer?

I'm still in Schweinsteiger muppet mode, so my post-worldcup one still stands.Finish the entire all-time eleven for Germany! Would be interesting.
Nice pick. If I am not wrong, Croatia never lost a game when Boban scored.

You could easily take Schweini out and replace the back four with the back five I mentioned above though.
Oh woooow! That accounts for about 9 games, against shit teams. Seriously, you can do better when finding praise for Boban.
The 2 exception to this will be posters like Pat_Mustard and Brwned who rarely participate in drafts of recent times and ex-managers like yourself and rpitroda who just are not in this draft. I was thinking of compiling a list with these 2 buckets of posters together to give them the bonus vote, but I just took too much work...and I think the resulting list will cause more controversy as it clearly tries to push scan voters out. So just stuck with bonus for playing managers this draft for simplicity sake.
He certainly makes sense for the balance of the team, but it's nothing short of blasphemy to leave Walter out.Do you rate Netzer that highly or it more for balance of the team?
My favourite rival player ever and the key player in the best German nationalteam ever. He's also such a loveable character. Individually you could argue against, use another typical German, but he's easily our best attacking midfielder ever and the Breitner - Netzer combination in midfield was probably as good for Real as Breitnigge was for Bayern, so yeah, I really rate him that highly.Do you rate Netzer that highly or it more for balance of the team?
He made my alltime German World Cup team though. I think that's actually fair.He certainly makes sense for the balance of the team, but it's nothing short of blasphemy to leave Walter out.
I like it.

Someone should have told him that. What a player he would have been if only he knew that he was passing and shooting with his weaker foot throughout his career.
Just learned that
wait 'till antohan hears about this! The meltdown... The horror..
@Edgar Allan Pillow can you sub out a youth player during the match?
Nope. Subbing then creates rules on when they can be subbed. Would putting them in team sheet and subbing out within 5 mins be OK? Too many variations.
Lets's just say the 5 drafted players (3DoFI, 1 Youth and 1 Legacy) will play the first game full time.
Satisfy my soul.
Not a bad option to have Krankl at the end of Kaltz' crosses if you need a goal.
---Rivaldo-Elkjaer-Totti---
------Souness-Bochini--
------Campbell--Mcgrath
Rodriguez-Sammer--Di livio
Bonus point galore.
I'm pretty sure he was kidding Edgar.
@MJJ I was planning a cheeky sub after 5 minutes just to at the meltdown as I argued the guy had already "played" in the first game.
Spoilsport.
I wanted to do the same but didn't wanna waste a pick so figured I asked.
@edgar yup, Campbell will tuck inside and totti will play like an inside forward.
if I change it mid Match do I lose the bonus points ?

This last round is going to take forever.
