I had such a round planned in the long-scrapped Bamboozle draft. Different from Tevezbola, you could each choose one player to secretly block (i.e. place a bodyguard on), then all players can have a pop at other teams' players except that when more than one goes for a player it also results in a block. Coin tosses would ensure no one lost more than one player. I fully expected a lot of anxiety and no one losing anyone, except the poor bastard who had a mid-tier chap Chesterle liked for some reason.

The only way that makes sense to me would be with Breitner at leftback.

I agree in theory as he was more often started in a real central midfield role, but the way he played his game was very similar to a deep lying playmaker. Many deep lying playmakers has had similar roles in their career where they'd be further forward, doing the same job.

Because you want Breitner to carry/pass the ball more than a workhorse next to Pirlo/Veron ever would get the chance to.

Yeah, I imagined that's what he wanted. Thing is Kalle/Enzo aren't the sort to Pirlo the ball to and hope they finish off a quick transition/counter. It's not solo dribbling missions you are aiming at but onslaughts with cool heads that can orchestrate them and eviscerate a defence. You would want Seeedorf and Breitner to be able to bomb forward in support and combine with them, ergo you want someone to hold the fort in midfield, not so much a ball-pinger. Deschamps would have been ideal as he has the right mix of both.

It's not too bad, but far from the optimal use of these players. Mind, half the voters will see it exactly how you just did and love it.

I thought he was going for Rummenigge as a striker and a dribbling winger on the right, in which case I think a Pirlo wouldn't have been bad at all. Now with the confusion and change back to Rummenigge wide he's maybe positioned himself halfway to both tactics.

Another one I didn't have :annoyed: Conti wasn't there either. Just got to the bottom of it, I didn't add all 50s players but the ones I had set aside for the decades and all-time drafts so given the allocation per country/decade I had left them out as options. Need to review my 50s options pronto.

Wow, Viva dodged a bullet there. I thought he should have passed on Adams and pick Varane, never imagined he would go second :eek:
 
I am planning on playing Veron like Annah suggested, I don't see any problem with it, in a 4-3-2-1 with Veron dictating the play, while Seedorf and Breitner bomb up and down from each side. Maybe I'm not using Breitner to his best, but I think he'll be magnificent in that role.

I'll pick David Alaba.
