Beckham corner from their right well defended and headed out - what we should have done. Free kick for us from near their left corner, GIggs takes and totally overhits, but the ref says their was a pulling of shirts by Mills on O'Shea. Retaking free kick, ref whistles again, this time Ruud and Matteo. Poor freekick in by GIggs again hits the near defender. They break, but we get back quickly in numbers.
 
Kewell takes a skied long range shot on goal.

Ruud knocked to the floor by strong defending. No free kick. Beckham does some enormous long ball over the top which goes straight to the keeper?
 
Ruud has a one two, breaks through, tries the shot but has a tight angle and misses the target. We're up for this one though! The atmosphere seems to be bringing the best out of us.
 
Giggs has started the game well by the way, he's playing a floating link role and feeding in the strikers.
 
Free kick to Leeds from 30 years, mix up between Rio and Barthez, Rio gets his head to it first - who made the shout?

Nice tackle by Silvestre, but ball comes back at us, poor pass by Smith and its barthez's ball. Leeds get the ball from teh goal kick, we disposess them, passing it round the back, O'Shea charges up the wing but hits a brick wall, Leeds with the ball, poor cross field pass, Silvestre tries to take it but totally miskicks and almost falls over, but we get away with it.
 
Apparently we've not been defeated in 14 away games - hope we keep that run going, 17 is our record apparently. Did Becks elbow Bowyer? I think he did! Jostling for a header, the arm was high. He's given a free kick - phew!

Free kick was headed back by O'Shea, poor pass by them to try and beat Mickey, who does enough to break up the attack. We're lucky that Becks didn't get a yellow though.
 
Well done O'Shea! Tidy back pass to Barthez under pressure. No nonsense defending.

Ole breaks away from his defender despite having his shirt pulled in the area, tries the shot but mishits it, maybe because of the tug!
 
Phil's playing is he? You wouldn't know.

Good defending by Mickey wins the ball and we've got possession again, Butt mishits the pass but Ole reaches it on the sideline, through to Giggs who first touches it into the area and runs to it but doesn't reach it.
 
Ruud got a pen for similar! Makes up for Becks getting off lightly.

Confusion again between Rio and Barthez, Rio was shielding the ball but Barthez was slow to come and pick it up, it was a close shave. Giggs takes a shot on goal, hits defender. Beckham totally knocked off the ball by Smith just outside the area - replay shows Butt was impeded in the area too. Anyway Beckham free kick from 30 yard out, central. C'mon Becks!!!

Good attacking play by us, but they're defending well and strongly.

Rio dummies the defender, makes space and passes back to Fabien. Leeds win the ball from the goal kick, slight foul, and Robinson takes the kick. Mickey wins the header out, fouled in the process by Smith.

We're starting to dominate possession and play - they all seem up for this one for a change!

Becks corner to far post, headed out. Barthez takes the ball far up the pitch, but Leeds win his ball out. Ole on the right, he has been playing wide at times, but he's very lively so far too. oooooohhh GIggs corner, Rio or Mickey got a head to the ball, but it goes wide.

Passing around their box, keeping possession, two balls in by Becks, but Leeds still defending well. Keeping the pressure on though. lol Smith does a typical strong challenge on Mickey.

Oooooh that was close! Free kick in, Giggs header, on target, headed out by Woodgate. Good attacking by us, good defending by them. At least we're keeping them on the back foot. We have to try and score though with these chances, its about the killer touch. Right now though, I'm just glad its us in control. We are really going at them.
 
Keepign the pressure on around their area, another shot on gaol, but Butt, Robinson gets down to make the save. C'mon United!! Marching must be getting worried now.
 
We are all over them. This match is there for the taking.
