We are. Robinson made some great saves, Woodgate and Harte (I think) both saved a given goal. And we should've gotten a penalty.

was very surprised aswell... he had a very good game.

It's one thing having good players, it's another thing organising them to deliver the goods; hats off to Venables and Kidd for the second half turnaround.

the players tried their best...thats all we can ask for.

When Leeds scored and RVN was taken off we looked like we didn't believe we were going to score. Worse than that we didn't seem to have a plan. Run around a lot, run into a defender or two, lose the ball - the sort of clueless activity that you can watch any Sunday morning on the local playing fields.

Bah !

Our overall play for 60 minutes was good. We held possession well and rarely looked in trouble. The problem was we are missing the driving force from modfield. Keane or Scholes, someone to pick the ball up and drive forward with it. It all very well making nice 40 yards cross field passess but if their no moment forward its useless.
Ruud looks like his confidence has taken a knock. The two good chances he had, he didn't look like he was going to score.
I don't think anyone can complain about the Ref. apart from the penalty decision. If he'd seen Beckam's elbow on Bowyer things could have been a lot worse.
I am a lot happier with the performance today than the one on Wednesday. Atleast we looked like we wanted to win it for a long time.
I agree Sir Alex has to take some of the flack. The team seems to be expecting to win. Its as if they are saying we are Manchester United we'll win.
The players now have to dig deep and really look at themselves and be honest with themselves. They were brought to Manchester United because they are good enough to play for us, now they have to repay Sir Alex's faith in them. They owe him a lot.

Why did I give Marching my mobile number.........

First off, we played excellent football for a lot of the match. But we couldn't afford to lose anyone today. As soon as Nicky went off we were in trouble, although I would have brought Diego on in preference to Luke Chadwick. The first team doesn't stop at 11, it stops at 16, and only Forlan on the bench today is worthy of a first team place. Chadwick just isn't good enough imo, but I reserve judgement on the others because they haven't been given the opportunity.

But there's no way I'm going to blame the team for the current situation. This is down to the manager and/or the plc. How have we allowed our squad to become so depleted? I know we have an abnormal number of injuries, but the squad has been allowed to deteriorate, even though it was becoming obvious to most people that the vast majority of the reserve team players aren't good enough for regular first team football.

With strong back up we could have come away from ER today with a point, maybe a win. We outplayed them in the first half, but other years we have been able to change things around by bringing on players of the same calibre. Now we can't. Every player, whoever he is, will at some point have a bad spell. We are no longer in a position to rest those players, or give them a run in the reserves to regain form/confidence.

It's time that the people responsible stood up and accounted for their actions, because you can't just keep making scapegoats out of the team.

Having said that, I think the team today deserves a lot of credit, and why RVN was taken off is beyond me. We needed a goal - and even if he is going thru a dry spell, you don't take off a striker of his calibre! Neville or O'Shea should have made way for Forlan.

Stop blaming the players for everything. The quality of the squad is down to the plc probably, and the substitutions are down to the manager.

Does anyone know why Michael Stewart wasn't on the bench today. I can't believe we went into a match with no central midfielders on the bench

I thought like livvie that we controlled the game until Nicky Butt went off. Anyway heres what i thought:
-Chadwick should have done more to stop that cross. He basically let the guy cross it in
-The defence on the main played very well.
- We lost the game in Midfield. Beckham was miles off his game, his passing & crossing was very sloppy.
- Up front we were a bit sharper than we've been recently but still not quite enough yet.
- Giggs played well in patches. certainly better than hes done recently.
-Phil Neville was one of our better players. He did well breaking attacks up in midfield.
-WHY did we take Ruud off when chasing a goal? Forlan was hardly gonna do it. He couldnt score in a whorehouse.
-Forlan should have played rightwing when Butt went off instead of Chadwick who seemingly has no sense of direction.
-Looked like an injurey that could keep Butt out for a week or so. Step up Micheal Stewart. In fact where is he? why wasnt he brought on for Butt, thus keeping the same shape?

I knew we were gonna get beat the moment Martin Tyler said that we hadnt been beaten in 14 away games & we were chasing the club record of 17 away games unbeaten. The fecker jinxed us!

Well spotted Arnie :D

Livvie, the PLC have sanctioned 30 million on one player.I think they have backed Fergie to the hilt this season.
Fergie has to start worrying about the team and not his bloody horses.
Why do we have to go out and buy the best(so called)players when there are little diamonds out there if you look.Piper of Sunderland springs to mind.We should have increased the amount of players we bought last year, with the Veron money.
Veron is a world class player no doubt but we could have bought 3 maybe 4 very good players with that money.

So there you are, you wanker !

I'm off to pick my Lotto numbers whilst I'm on a roll - if I win I'm going to buy us an out of contract central midfielder.

Now piss off and go harrass Livvie ;)

How OGS did not get booked for that blatent foul I will never know.

After all these years of trying it is a great result for Leeds...especially with Rio in your team.

The league is wide open this season - I was amazed to see empty seats in the MU end...sad day for football when MU don't sell out a Leewds away game.

We are Leeds We are Leeds
We are Leeds We are Leeds
We are Leeds We are Leeds

Because he has the face of an angel?

But I thought he was.

Marching - BBC website says :

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (Man Utd) booked for unsporting behaviour.

Ian Harte (Leeds) booked for unsporting behaviour.

What's unsporting about kicking an Aussie ?

We can. We will. We've had dry spells before.

just got done watching the game. This is the type of game we would have won easily two years ago. We created 3 or 4 clear cut scoring oppurtunities that we didnt take. They had one shot on target each half and scored from the second one. Are we predictible Yes but its still early days. Our defense is immensly better then it was last year even with the odd communication problems. We all must believe we will start scoring and when we do the premiership will be ours again. WE JUST NEED TO START NOW!!!

I agree with the people who have said our wingers are not producing, Becks was better today but still seemed happy to launch long balls forward. He's trying the difficul pass to often. He was also lucky to stay on the pitch.
Giggs was good in the first half but didn't seems to want to take on the defenders. I know he has been critised for running up blind alleys but i'd rather he tried. It almost looks like he's looking for someone to lay the goals on for him rather than Giggs making the goals for others.

agreed EVER there was one time he was in acres of space at the top of the box and he tried to head the ball on. there wasnt nobody near him he could have settled the ball and had a go. I think we had more options when OLE RVN and COle platooned. We lack the breakaway speed. Saying that RVN race 40 yards and just missed scoring a great goal.

I think we did very well in the first half and a bit unlucky not to score. But as soon as Venables beef up the midfield in the 2nd half the game was changed. We couldn't respond because we simply have no option. And the lost of Butt just made things even worse.

He wasn't unlucky to score, he didn't look confident. Once he got past Woodgate he didn't drive towards the goal. He looked like he was waiting for Robinson to commit himself. Last season he would have taken the keeper on and beaten him.

Bit harsh that mate.I thought it was a brilliant run and he had to shoot when he did.It was a good save unfortunately :(

Ok maybe i was a bit harsh. Its just so frustrating to see a player like Ruud go through a spell like this. I know its not his fault, it happens to all players. Its just unfortunate that it is co-inciding with our injury problems. (which i think can now offically be labelled a crisis).
