Television The Office, US Version

I agree the show has picked up since Carell left. It was getting very stale towards his last couple of seasons. As far as better comedies go, the other three that air on the Thursday night are currently far superior to The Office -

Parks and Recreation, Community and It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia.

From those three, I've only watched It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and it's not my type of humour. However, I'll try the first 2, cheers!

I've actually quite liked this season. I feel not having Steve Carell might have freshened it up a bit. They've also gone a bit more back to the old Jim-Dwight prank thing. This episode was the best so far, though.

Agree with this. Enjoying this season quite a bit.

Yep, reeled me back in. I've gone a bit soft on the new season since I've been watching a ton of the old episodes on Netflix, but this episode was classic 'The Office'.

Not too sure about the end of last week's episode (before they left Scranton for Florida) with the insinuation that
the new girl made about trying to get together with Jim while they were away in Florida.
That's not a route the show should go down if it wants to survive, I think.

Been really good those past weeks IMO.

Opener for the latest episode had me in tears.

Yeah, she's rubbish. I can't believe they think her scenes are funny.

He's okay in tiny doses, but when he has to integrate into an overall storyline rather than a drive-by one-liner he's pretty weak.

Why not? It's still enjoyable, infact this season has been its best in a few years, surprisingly. They've brought back a lot of the old dynamics and it's very funny at times. I'll happily watch it to pass 20 minutes here and there.

Unfortunately, Catherine Tate is ruining the thing and I'm not sure if I'll bother, if she's in it much longer.

I was done with The Office once Steve Carell was gone. Even the last season with him was not a patch on the earlier ones.

Saw recently about ten minutes of one of the newer episodes with Spader and realized it was the right decision to stop watching.

Catherine Tate?! Wait, what? (Yes I have been living under a rock for the last few months)

Both new characters have been rubbish. Show was at its best in Florida with a smaller group to focus on. Get rid of Andy and Erin.

The best time in the show was when it was mainly focussed around Michael, Pam, Jim and Dwight. Then the show became big and they decided to give everyone storylines and more screentime (perhaps as a consequence of people working on other things and not being as available) and the show suffered. Erin and Cathy's characters are beyond pointless. Ditto Gabe. The others should just play a supporting role rather than being the focus of storylines.

Creed's had some cracking moments - as always tbf.

I'm surprised NBC have let it run so long. They almost cancel Community but let this run way past its welcome.

The problem is that once Pam and Jim got together there wasn't much to their story anymore. It was always the focal point of the show in terms of plot (followed by Michael's woes and loves). Sure they got marries and had kids and stuff but by then I wasn't really interested anymore, it was a bit stale and thats when the writers started adding new things.

I mean the Andy and Erin shit is basically the exact same only with 2 far less appealing characters.

If you want an example of how aimless the Erin character is, they started up some storyline about how she and her foster brother were very touchy feely and then completely abandoned it, never to be mentioned again. It was something that was bothering Andy then suddenly it no longer exists.

The same with the story about her mom who is not Phyllis.

I've not even bothered downloading the last few episodes, Tate has absolutely destroyed what little watchability remained of the show.

Sad part is they can't do anything about Tate since they've probably already shot her episodes. She seems to be universally hated, but we're stuck with her.

Whenever she interacts with Spader I die a little inside. That relationship makes absolutely no sense and I have no idea why he hasn't fired her by now.

We also have a Dwight spinoff in the works now. Why can't they all just let the show die and move on? I'm sure they'll all make decent careers for themselves.

I heard about that Dwight spin off, 'the farm' set on the beat farm, and without his cousin mose, that sounds like an absolutely awful idea.

It reminds me when Seinfeld ended and everyone had their own spin off show. None of those worked out to well for George and Kramer.

Catherine Tate must be the worst character introduced into a series. I wish they'd kill her off, reveal it was all a dream and bring her back and then kill her off again.

Last night's episode was amazing. I don't remember the last time I laughed so much watching the office. This must be the first time the 3 NBC comedies (P&R, Community and this) were this good on the same day!

Just watched the season finale.

Not sure what to think, I'm glad Spader is gone, because Robert California has to be one of the shittest comedy characters imaginable, infact the only one right now I can think of who's worse than him is Catherine fecking Tate. I'm sure they had the finale shot before they found out that absolutely everyone hates her so HOPEFULLY she won't be there next season.

I did find it funny though, and I guess that's the most important bit. I was in stitches when Jim pulled the velcro suit off Dwight

I don't give a feck about Daryl and yer one (can't even remember her name), but it's good to see them addressing the Dwight-Angela thing at fecking last.

The show should've ended 2 seasons ago but it's still watchable, in fact probably more watchable than I expected.

Nellie is probably the worst character in the history of television. I went from watching it religiously every week to randomly catching up on Hulu every now and then. They had a perfect opportunity to get rid of her in the last episode but brought her back for some reason. I'm glad David Wallace is seemingly back on the show, he's turned out to be a great character.

Safe to assume I wasn't the only one who screamed in horror as I watched Andy offer that woman a job.

Also found Robert's exit bizarre and poorly written. Wallace, a smart guy, just decided to give him $1m to go around molesting European gymnasts?
