Television The Office, US Version

Watching Season three right now on netflix, they just absorbed the Stamford branch and found out the black guy is a past criminal for insider trading. Haha

The show can continue without Carrel. It does have some awful characters like Kevin on one side, but the likes of Creed getting more screen space can only be good.

Having said that, at the moment the writers seem super confused with respect to characterization. The likes of Andy, Ryan, Darrell often seem quite pointless.

The show's been dead for a while now, continuing without Carrel is only going to continue to make things worse.

That was an amusing episode, Michael Scarn, I liked how the White House address was Washington D.C., D.C. haha

Has this got any better? I stopped watching after the house party episode where Michael got shitty and cut the cable signal

Last season was wank, this has been good, not consistently so, but good, because there's far less focus on Jim and Pam who are annoying as feck now, and more focus on Michael and Dwight.

To be fair the show has rebounded strongly this season.

The Micheal Scarn episode will go down as one of the best.

Nice to see Rashida Jones back in the fold... though her new show Parks and Rec is stealing the Office's thunder these days, I always liked her and Jim better than Jim and Pam

No comments on Thursday's episode?

Thought it was brilliant.

...and quite sad at the end. I love Michael Scott.

Was pretty good, Dwight was funny as always. No Creed.

And

the end is to be expected, seeing as Carrell is off it was always going to be the case that Michael went away with Holly

This probably should have ended at the end of Season 4 (I think), where Jim turned the job offer down and asked Pam on a date, I always thought that would have been a great ending.

Still some very good stuff in this show from time to time though.

Well they're continuing it when Carrell leaves, so it'll get even worse. Though I don't think this season has been as poor as the last 2.

I, unfortunately, can't see any good in Will Ferrell's 4-episode cameo. At least it's only 4 episodes though, if he took over as the new full time manager, I think the show would be completely ruined.

First half of this season was terrible. But its been strong enough since Amy Ryan returned, thats a great story, the chemistry between the two is fantastic.

Yeah they were stupid to right Holly out of the show in the first place, it kept them from developing Michael's character which is kind of a big deal considering he is the show's protagonist, I think that is why the show had such a stale, stuck in a rut run the past two years. Add to it, Holly is a very good character to begin with they really should have never written her out of the story originally.

The actress was becoming pretty well known, so maybe she didn't have time.

So was that the last episode with Michael or will he be in some more this season?

Will Ferrel as a boss has potential though

She only signed on for a few episodes, because they didn't expect her to be so popular, and when they realised how good she was/the reaction to her it was too late to get her to stay for more.

Apparently Brent is coming back for another episode.

I might get shot down for this, but I actually quite like Will Ferrell.

I do too in general, but I think he's too big a personality to step in here. I think what makes Steve Carrell (although he's way more funny than Ferrell) perfect for The Office, is that he's pretty much made himself in that role. He wasn't a big star going into a TV program, but he's a big star because of it. Will Ferrell has got the range of one of those guards outside the queen's house in the fuzzy hats that don't move at all. He's the same character over and over again.

Will Ferrell is a great man. What is up with the depression on here?

Yeah I really don't get the hate, he's hilariously funny at times.

Frank the Tank in Old School is one of the funniest characters I've seen in many a year, the streaking and "dart in your neck" scenes are comedy gold.

That's that then. Michael Scott is no more.

Wasn't all that funny an episode but it got me sad we're never going to see him again.

New one was pretty good. Nice to see all the characters getting some more face time.

I think they're trying to get more time for most of the characters, including Jim and Pam. Carell was awesome, but he did take up a lot of the time. No idea what they'll do in the future, as far as I know Ferrell is only on for a few episodes.

Was a good episode indeed.

I don't think it was their choice to part company with Carell, I think it was him who resigned.

I have no idea what they're going to do now that he's gone, there are literally no characters they could possibly focus on. Jim and Pam have somehow gone from mildly amusing to extremely annoying so more focus on them won't be any good if they keep them this way, Dwight will be much less funny without Michael around as their relationship is what kept him going, Andy hasn't been funny to me for a while, and the likes of Meredith, Creed and Phyllis are amusing but they're only there for a couple of minutes in each episode.

Gabe is a particularly terrible character I think, if they made him boss it'd be a good way to kill this show completely.
