The New Official Republic of Ireland Football Thread

I'd love to see Idah score just to actually prove he can.

I know it's Gilbraltor but I've seen enough to spend 200 million of Shiekh Jassim's money on Ferguson

I have just seen Northern Ireland's score. Kenny is doing a great job

We've played well in the second half. They're defending has been decent throughout.

Thread has died on its arse now the miserable twat brigade don’t have anything to moan about.

Sorry, I got so drained I watched the second half on the phone, so internalised everything.

The wee Scot and Parrot helped the movement issue anyway.

Obviously not ideal but McLean probably still has the best final ball of anyone in our squad.

Makes a huge difference especially with our attacking players being good in the air particularly Ferguson.

Maybe Mikey Johnson can develop his final ball and we have missed Ogbenne too

I like Ogbenne.

Good win, solid second half performance but the elephant in the room is why we didn't start with that team against bloody Gibraltar. Why did it take until half time to realise we didn't need three centre halves

Yeah, the pressure of sack talk must have spooked the shit out of him.

We're better than the Welsh and the Nordies at least

I mean City have roasted plenty of minnows with three centre backs in their team. So long as the wing backs are legit attackers it can be a very attacking formation. And we obviously picked players in those positions primarily for what they offered going forwards. Although the current state of Irish football means fielding a team with more than one “legit attacker” is almost impossible.

Mikey Johnston chant the best part of the night

Yeah it's not impossible but when the oppo don't play it's way beyond a lot of teams, not just us.

But the way our three CBs stood in a line behind Cullen when he had the ball and everyone else stood and waited was so poor. The first half was torture. Only Knight came out of it with any credit.

The second half with the two clever players brought Ferguson to life and made Cullen look half able.

Obafemi needs acres to run in.

Awful starting 11 even with what we had available.

Really? Jammy fecks have 4 points they might easily have let slide.
To be fair it's probably better for us that they beat everyone else. Leave them run away with it and have Greece and Holland dropping points against each other would be our best chance if we were decent enough to potentially take advantage.

Maybe, but a bit of unease and chaos could be fun and just as advantageous.

Watching that game on delay killed whatever little bit of jeopardy that went with the game.

Knight did well. Johnston was lively and looks like he'll provide a decent option. I like McGrath. Wouldn't want to be relying on him as a starter, but he takes up nice positions and seems like he's really aware of the players around him. Ferguson simultaneously looks absolutely class and really raw. His movement, as someone mentioned, is very hit and miss. He doesn''t seem to follow in on much. He'll need to hone the striker's instinct.

Of all the sick things you have posted on this site, that's the one that made me feel the most uneasy.

it’s just a harmless erection, it’ll subside with time.
