If we get a result at City this weekend, he should def stay in the job at least till the end of the season.

Think he’ll be here for longer than that. I sense the Board are ready to back him now in the transfer market - if there are any decent players still available that is.

You wouldn't by any chance be in the Jose out camp, would you?
He’s right though. Changing votes on a match to match basis is knee jerk.

Saying that, if we go to City on Sunday and play well, and get a result. Then we win the game afterwards and climb the league, I’ll be happy to change my tune on Jose.

I think most Utd fans would rather be wrong about Jose and see the team do well than right and see us struggle. Surely?

He deserves praise tonight. Go on Jose.

Oh look the votes are swinging again  All you who change your vote every game are embarrassing

They are. A win does wonders.

There’s no doubt tonight is a great result, but when you really strip it back then (still) the dark reality is that we were outplayed in the second half, should have been well beaten and still play really poor football given the talent running through the midfield and attack. There were signs of a higher tempo in the first half, which is actually frustrating because it’s clear our players are capable.

With that said, the players are working hard and the talk of disharmony is longer present. He needs some credit, I suppose.

99% of teams will go to Juve and struggle. We did well considering we’ve got Ashley Young as a right back.

Credit is due for our manager tonight, and I’ve been very critical of him on here.

I’m not making any point about our football. More about posters. If you have an opinion stick with it. 90% of the people who change their vote tonight will change it back when we next draw or loose.

I still want him out, but to criticize him because we were outplayed by Juventus in stretches is odd. They're arguably the best team on the planet and probably have the best defence in the World. It's not often they concede many chances.

If it was Pogba who done it. We would call for his head, we would say it was unprofessional and taking away from a great win for the team

Jose in and haven’t changed once. However, how I personally vote doesn’t change the cringy amount of people who change their vote after every game.

Agreed. I've always been Jose in as well, and I fully understand why someone might be voting otherwise. However, there are SO many people who can't form their own opinion on the manager, players, anything really.

They would. The first half was a bit of a struggle but we were actually quite good and composed. We lost that second half, though. It’s fair comment to say we were poor and lacking attacking ideas.

Changing your vote after every game is just silly. I change it everytime Unite lose possession.

Luckiest man in football at the moment. Getting the necessary results right when he needed them the most, despite overall lacklustre performances where we’ve been blessed by lady fortune to still be in the game with a chance to turn it around towards the end.

Can he build on it? Stranger things have happened in football, I guess. Either way, hard to see a future where he doesn’t stick around until the end of the season from here.

Im still in the out camp because long term over the season were gonna win f all and the mourinho fan boys will probably celebrate if we scrape into top 4, as if we had done the treble again.

For a long time I voted Mourinho needed more time then eventually said time to go when we looked useless for months. In recent games there has been a lot of positives in the way we are playing, the way Mourinho is coming across and it's clear the team are behind him.

Also the board needed convincing the defenders we have are not good enough and that is clear which also means Mourinho is right and was ready to act swiftly.

It's a lot of positive factors and beating Juve today really shows the turn around. We are sticking in and holding on. We aren't brilliant, we aren't world beaters, but we are certainly on the right trajectory so simply put nothing to suggest we should change manager now.

Amazing the turn around, but it really has been a stark improvement in many aspects.

The positive for me since the West Ham game is that there no longer appears to be any internal conflict. Results have improved too but our style of play still leaves a-lot to be desired. Taking Lukaku out of the team was a good step.

Maybe sticking with Jose after the so-called third season meltdown, will unlock a new beast-mode Jose

A great result overall, can't really moan about the performance could of been much much worse and in all honesty that's one of the games you'd be incredibly lucky to get a draw let alone a win.

He has to stay till end of season now but he has to do a lot more to convince me he deserves to stay in summer.

Just remember Utd never built on coming back from 2-0 down away to City.

Surely time to lock this thread.

Like many others, I still have major doubts about Mou but seems inevitable he'll be here till the end of the season.

Great result tonight, bring on sunday. I'm not changing my vote just yet, but lets see how we do on Sunday, another game where we all expect very little from us.

It's also possible that some people are changing their vote because of an up turn in our recent form, not just one match. You know; basing their opinion of someone on their actions and not just clinging onto blind loyalty/hatred.

No need. It's for both positive and negative views and we needed a mega thread about him to save the other threads imo like Messi vs Ronaldo thread.

Our next seven games are going to be a big deal. Two final CL games, City, Arsenal. Personally if we can get through the group stages and not embarrass ourselves against City (and beat Arsenal) then Mourinho's got my vote. Bonus gobby by the bins behind Nandos if we smash Liverpool after that.

I think most Utd fans would rather be wrong about Jose and see the team do well than right and see us struggle. Surely?

I think some fans are so toxic and miserable that if we won the league or CL, they'd be moaning and crying themselves to sleep at night.
There are some who simply want Jose out, at any cost. And if that means us losing 10 matches in a row, they'd take it.

We just beat Juve today (one of our best results in a long long long time) and some people are making miserable posts on this forum. It may sound as if I am lying, but this is actually taking place, right this minute.

I've said this time and time again: Jose is an elite level manager and there are very few men on this planet who can turn the ship around in the way that Jose has been doing in the last few weeks....but that's what you get when you have a top manager in charge. A lesser manager would've gone down. And I think the turning point was the 3-2 win against Newcastle and the fan support he received in that match, when he stayed behind and clapped the fans (and they clapped him). That would've been massive for him. Like all humans, we do need support and appreciation and up until that point, all Jose was receiving was sack threats. That "vote of confidence" he received from the match going fans charged him up and ever since we have had the following results (1 loss in 6 matches, against some decent sides):

You can't just put it down to luck. The team is clearly playing for him and fighting for every result. There are obvious problems, especially the fact that we seem to keep going down a goal to every shit team in the league, but the fact that we are fighting back from that every time tells you that the team is behind him. It isn't luck that gets us those results, it's belief and perseverance and quality. Not that I'm saying he's the right manager for us - I'm undecided at the moment. But he isn't just getting lucky. If anything I think he's been a bit unfortunate this season in the sense that a lot of teams seem to be putting their one or two chances away

Spot on.

I’ve said since the transfer window closed, top 4 would be decent. I would be happy with a draw against city. And hope we can keep gaining points.
As Mourinho touched on again tonight, world class center backs make a big difference, both in attack and defence.

There are some who change their vote after every bad result , and every good result. It’s not informed at all, it’s knee jerk

Would be nice if he said more of this stuff rather than how he doesn't have x CB or how amazing x are.

Doesn't look a repeat of the Chelsea situation.

At one point Jose looked moments away from getting the sack and the manager, the board and players at loggerheads, the poll tapped into that feeling of something coming to an end sharply but he seems to have cleared the air for the time being and bounced back after a real low against Newcastle. Whether it's just everyone knuckle down to repair the season then part ways or something more is hard to say. The question in the poll is a longer term question now.

I still class him as a top manager in the game.

If he signs a top RW, and some top attacking players, I feel like we can become a top team. But he doesn't, he goes after more CB's to add to the 50 we've got, and our attacking play suffers. If he'd just sign a top RW player I'd be happy to back him, but it's been 3 seasons now and the best we still have is Lingard, Rashford and Mata..

Martial improving has helped us a lot, but you need a combination like Mane/Salah, Sterling/Sane, Hazard/Willian. Even those teams' backups in Shaqiri, Mahrez and Pedro are better than our current RW options.

Of course Lukaku being rubbish this season now makes us need a striker too. I don't know, Mourinho used to be very clinical with transfers in his Madrid and Chelsea days. After his first season here where the signings were good he's been very hit and miss with them.
