Maybe Martial is just young and inconsistent. How about that. He didn’t work any extra harder than he did against Chelsea or Newcastle. Only difference against Juve we was just sitting back. He still had a stinker though.

If anything with how clinical he is and our lack of goalscorers this season he should be given less defensive responsibilities

I love how people shift their opinions after 1 win or 1 loss in this thread. Until he wins the title, he's not good enough and should be sacked as early as possible.

Everyone is forgetting that we are in this mess because we got outplayed by a bunch of midtable teams. They didn't knick lucky goals they actually fecking outplayed us. It's embarrassing to lay the blame anywhere else than the managers feet.

It’s mind boggling. The might Man United grab a win at home to Everton to move into the top half of the table, and suddenly everything is looking rosy!

I’m convinced people are just wumming when they express a changed opinion after a single game.

People don’t want to admit it, but today we were lucky more than better. Everton was clearly the better side they didn’t catch the breaks, better attacking, better defensively.

Our defensive is a joke, he should rightfully mad about that.

Bailly has been injured frequently since last year, he could have let Smalling and Lindelof work on their partnership. Its clear both Lindelof and Smalling are more than capable of doing a job. If Mourinho stops reminding everyone that he is not backed by the board by buying him CBs every chance he gets may be his current players won't get so demoralised and can actually play decently.

The players need to grow up and take responsibility. It’s not always Mourinho’s fault when they make mistakes.

Yes it's never Mourinho's fault, players should take responsibility even when they are dropped for no good reason and constantly get shit on by Mourinho in every press conference.

I think the defenders that get dropped get dropped for a good reason.

So it was morning's fault that pogba was lackadaisical with the ball and that smalling lunged into a bad challenge?

Yes they are when considering the market and the availability of the players. We can't just throw money willy-nilly at bang average players. We tried for Alderweireld, Godin, Boateng and Maguire, they either didn't want the move or were extremely costly. Or did you want us to sign Yerry Mina(sat on the everton bench) just for the sake of it?

We did try for any of those players. Woodward said no remember? Youre bias is showing big time.

LOL if you believe that we are playing attacking football this season compared to last year I have a bridge to sell you :D

As I said, bias is showing.

He is young and inconsistent no denying that. We see only certain aspects in actual games and most of the time goes in the training. Maybe Martial is showing more of what jose wants during training. It was very visible today his defensive contribution , much more than what i have seen from him before. Eitherway my point was that Mourinho will allow people to have a bad day if they are showing signs of helping the team move backward and forward and i think Martial is realizing that. Long may it continue.

My point is every time he’s back in peoples good books we want to watch if he’s tracking back. Bring up all the extra training and instructions he must be taking on from Mourinho when the simple truth is he’s just playing. He got player of the month a couple times last season because we played him. He will get player of the month for October because shock horror we played him. It’s that simple.

It's that simple. He won player of the month 3 times in the first half of last season. Then Jose jettisoned him for Sanchez and tried to sell him over the summer. Jose is forced to give him a run of games this season due to injuries. Lo and behold he's our best player again.

The only thing stopping Martial has been Jose's refusal to play him consistently. He deserves zero credit for his form. If anything, we should be thankful to Ed for refusing to sell him. If Jose had his way he'd be banging in the goals or Chelsea right now.

And how do you know this? Ive had a quick look and cant find anything other than bullshit paper talk with "sources". You got a link I can read?

He got fined in the summer his agent also said he wanted to leave? What else do you need? His confessions CD.

You're right. If it was true the club would have announced it on their website. How silly of me.

Neville even mentioned it last week on Sky saying the club hadn't backed him by not sanctioning the swap with Willian.

He got fined for leaving the squad and agents talk shit all the time. But the statement made was that jose wanted to sell him, not that he wanted to leave. So how do we know this apart for bullshit paper talk?

So its just paper talk then?

So its just paper talk then?

I wonder if he would have fined Fellaini or Matic?

As opposed to what? An official announcement? I hope for your sake your being purposely obtuse here.

I think you are. Theres a world of difference between according to (insert person who is making the statement) and according to "sources". Or the mirror "understands" that Jose will be sacked regardless of the score line against newcastle.

Sorry, but tabloids are a joke for a reason.

I think Mourinho should stay. I know I'm posting this on the back of a win and some great football after nearly being starved of attacking football but here's why. Most people (including me) dislike JM for two things - his man management and his dour attitude. While the latter is not something that I expect him to change I've come to appreciate him man management a bit more. JM is struggling at MU because we have a lot of inconsistent players. Some because they're so young and others who're past their prime. Both these sets of players are not able to produce consistently and hence the team plays Jekyll and Hyde so often.

Full Backs
: Young and Valencia are past it, no matter how much I value their contributions over the years it's just unreasonable to expect them to handle wingers who're 10-12 years younger than them (add to it the fact that they're not even natural full backs!!!). Guardiola, in his first season, struggled massively because of City's aging full backs and we're struggling because of the same. We are constantly trying to adjust our team formations and players to accommodate our full backs (thank goodness to Luke for coming good this season).

Midfield: JM is not averse to fluid, fast football and some praise but he has to play more defensive to accommodate our aging full backs and the in-cohesive back line. This results in picking players like McTominay, Fellaini and Matic over more exciting players like Fred, Pereira and Mata. He has played Pogba in each game and Pogba with all due consideration hasn't been consistent. Matic has looked jaded and the third midfield position has been a revolving door. Little wonder that our through balls constantly miss our attackers, the attackers are constantly offside or not making runs. This is a systemic problem and not something which is JM's fault. The players playing slow football or not having an intuitive understanding is not something that gets fixed on the blackboard. These players have to play together to get that understanding and at the moment the whole lineup is in a state of flux. And I'll list my understanding of why this is happening a bit later.

Attack: Once you compromise on the midfield the attackers also get starved of service and players like Lukaku and Rashford are struggling because of that. I see people jumping on Lukaku's back but this guy has been making selfless runs through the channels for all he's worth. Can you imagine Ruud making runs away from the box and putting crosses in for the sake of the team? Lukaku, unfortunately has sacrificed himself for the team and has found opportunities dried up for himself because of the team's impotence and rather than being bashed for his "first touch" I'd rather focus on his commitment and desire. Yes, I'd like him to bury the chances that he get but I still appreciate what he's giving for the team.

JM's Man Management: JM stated this in one of his interviews with Rio - "I like to put players under pressure to see how they respond". You won't get into his team just because he's under pressure or the team doesn't have a backup etc. If he expects something from you then you have to perform at that level to get into the team. Conversely, once you do that he'll not drop you from his team. If Matic is not playing well, JM will not drop him and play Pereira even though in the short term Pereira might be better and that has to do with the evolution of a player. In simpler terms, you've got to earn your place in the team and you'll not get into the team just because the guy in front of you is having a bad day. I understand this logic and over the last couple of years he's taken this approach with the younger players whom he expect to understand what it means to be a Manchester United player. Luke Shaw has proven himself and I'm seeing signs of Martial also responding positively. I'm also hoping that Pogba also takes this criticism on-board and works hard. I firmly believe that these players need to go through this phase because they're too concentrated on the non-relevant aspects of being a Manchester United players.

Imbalance: Our team currently is very predictable. We don't have a right winger and the full backs don't overlap too aggressively and this is making our team not too difficult to play against. I've seen game after game that teams cramp the left and central midfield against us and leave big spaces for Young or Valencia to attack because they know attacks are not going to hurt them from that side and that makes a huge difference. I'm very positive that once we sort the RB (Dalot?) and right wing situation we'd be a very competitive unit.

I know this sounds like I'm a big JM proponent but frankly I'm not. But I try to understand where he's coming from. What is his thinking behind doing what he's doing? It's not like he hates attacking football or loves getting criticized. There are operational constraints and he has to work with what he has. Given another 2 years and support in transfer window I have every confidence that we'd be challenging for a title.

Neville mentioned it on Sky recently saying the club hadn't backed him by not sanctioning the swap with Willian.

Only an idiot would believe everything they read but it's equally idiotic to believe everything you read is false until sources are publicly named.

Why would you wonder that? If they left the squad without permission Im sure either or both would have been fined. If you have proof martial is/has been unfairly treated, Im all eyes. I just dont take paper talk as facts, sorry.

You don’t need to read about it. You can see quite clearly he doesn’t like him. Exactly how he doesn’t like Pogba; does everything need recorded. Do we need to see him criticise him in training for you to believe it?

Just about thickly by yourself to old some ground on your argument.

How would Neville know? Other than repeating what was reported? He’s not part of the club anymore. In fact we only know that Jose wasn’t backed in the market about defenders because he keeps going on about it and Woodward made a big deal about letting us all know his reasons.

But how to determine what’s true and not in regards to paper talk? We all know and agree they take huge liberties in order to generate sales and clicks. So how do you know what’s true?

Most papers are rubbish but certain sources are very very strong in their track record. Di Marzio is one and didn't he say Jose really wanted Perisic? We didn't get him, obviously. Woody didn't rate him as much as the fees suggested but I think he'd have been brilliant for us.

Probably because it’s your opinion and not a fact? Where can you “quite clearly see he doesn’t like him”? And yes, that’s how facts work. You need more than an opinion for it to be a fact.

And I don’t know what that last sentence is supposed to be saying.

Out for me still.

Can't help but feel this new found form and freedom of play is just a ploy to keep his job... When all speculation passes or dies down we will be back to our usual passive shit selves.

My issues are more with the continued reporting of soap opera type stories going on behind the scenes.

Tabloids are a joke most of the time but in the same breath they get things right at the same time. It was no secret that Martial nearly left in the summer, now this might be down to Martial not feeling the love after the Sanchez arrival and losing his squad number to Zlatan. In the summer Martial may have downed tools and its forced Jose to make a decision and hes tried to get the best alternative, in Willian. Im glad the board didn't want to swap a 22 year old with bags of potential for a 30 year old who will decline in a season or 2 and have no resale value.

Martial can become one of the best players in the world if he stays consistent, whether or not he wants to stay is a different matter. I would assume that the club have spoke to his agent and they have indicated that he wants to stay and is willing to work on a new contract or hes stalling the contract so that he gets played rather than being benched due to not wanting to renew.

This is football not a court case.

Based on your opinions. Nothing in football is true only what you witness for 90mins and even then it’s still based on opinions. What’s your next statement? If the tree falls does it make I sound if no one is there to hear it?

This is football not a court case.

Then some people need to presenting their opinions as just that, and not unquestionable facts. If you believe something to be true, that’s fine. But if your going to insist someone else is wrong, you should have more than ‘the sun’ as your reasoning.

I don’t read newspapers. Try abit harder next time.

This is stupid. You know things happen that the club won't confirm publicly. If you've no interest that's your deal. You can wait for the club website to tell you what they want you to believe.

Others who are interested in the club will take heed of the huge amount of information available. Manager quotes, player agent quotes, journalists, team selections, former players etc. Some things the papers say are true, others are obvious nonsense. If you aren't braindead you can actually get a decent idea of the difference. Mourinho himself has given us several direct insights into his relationship with Martial for instance. Those with the ability to take these on board will be better placed to judge these stories.

Those who lack that capacity will be better off not reading anything because you can't tell the difference and end up saying "it's those newspapers lied to me again innit" If that's your situation so be it. But stop this nonsense about "facts" and verified sources etc.

Just Twitter or the first posts of threads on here which posts half quotes then conveniently skip past the posts that demonstrates how all the anger posted was based on bollocks.

You're far from alone in that respect but it's a big problem on here.

He has to get us into Champions League position ( top 4) or he is gone.

Absolutely. I'd expect us to have a clause of sorts about that in his contract too. He has also earned the right to fight for it until it's still mathematically possible.

Usually the date is true, most of the rest is highly contentious.
