After today's "Moyes like' comments from Mourinho about aspiring to reach the levels of Man City then its time to get rid. It's as if Mourinho hasn't been given any money to buy players. Baily, lindelof, mikytayran, Pogba, Fred, lukaku, Matic, sanchez... Nearly a full team and he's still moaning about not enough investment.

Everyone getting emotionally invested needs to avoid football til May. Seasons over. 6th and Europa League for next season will be achieved with the remainder of the season seeing us win one in very three or similar. A couple of poor results followed by a false dawn, decent win over a middling side (maybe the odd 1-0 over a top 4 team). Rinse and repeat until May.

I've resigned myself to it weeks ago, Im not getting invested in this season.

Pretty much everything that comes out of his mouth is ridiculous at this point. He has become a caricature of himself. He was always a preposterous and divisive individual, but it worked as long as he was successful. We saw at Chelsea, the second time, what it looked like when the wheels came off the bus; but we took a punt on him anyway - as the pedigree seemed so strong. I was one of those that believed he should have gotten the job after Fergie retired, thinking he was the only one with a personality strong enough to stand the pressure. Well, I was wrong. Deeply, deeply wrong. He has spectacularly cracked under the pressure. All of his worst traits have come to the fore. The terrible football, the divisive comments, the toxic atmosphere. The spirit in the the camp, and general relationships with the coach are obviously not good. I desperately hope the club sever relations with him as soon as possible, and start yet another rebuild under the auspices of a DOF.

There is no salvaging this situation. Even a good run of form is going to be followed by an eventual meltdown. I just don't see the logic in persisting with him.

I wouldn't be so sure about 6th place. Everton has a quality squad and great momentum right now.
Also, you should include idiots still defending Mourinho should stay after said season.

Don’t think we’ll finish as high as 6th, but the rest is basically my feelings too.

70% wanting him gone is quite damning. I want him to do well here, I want him to turn it around but I just cant see it now. We are not good enough to go in a run of wins.

Well, I am currently one of those fans who want Jose to stay, however, if a good candidate to replace him, becomes available tomorrow, I am quite happy to jump ship.

The issue I have is that Jose is a top class manager, so if he is failing, it simply has to be something which is happening above him and if this is the case, then a new manager won't make any difference. In 2 years, you'll want that new manager to fired, too. Just like Moyes, LVG and Jose (in quick succession). If this is the case, I'd much rather work with Jose and get him to take us back to winning ways. The guy is a serial winner who has won titles at every single club he managers. He comes to MUFC and fails. Does that not seem odd to you?

People said that LVG is a has-been, when he joined us. "When was the last time he won a league title", his doubters said. Fair enough.
Well, Jose was in talks with us, while his Chelsea side were still the reigning league champions. We had appointed a serial winner, who wins leagues wherever he goes and he'd recently won the league title in the EPL.

So please, someone answer this, because I am genuinely baffled: Why is a serial winner, unable to win at MUFC?

His time here has pretty much followed the script a lot of people predicted before he joined. First year to assess the team, a big improvement in the second and then falling apart in the third.

He was unfortunate that in the second season a team came along and raised the bar to a level he couldn’t match. That season was as good as it is ever going to get under Mourinho, anyone expecting a big turn around or that he has any future here behind this season is living in a dream world.

Mourinho is all about short term impact building a team to win trophies for here and now, when it goes wrong you pay him off and move.

Watching PSG vs Napoli, I am remembering what quick, beautiful football is like. God, are we terrible under Jose, is it that hard to achieve what even Napoli are doing after 2.5 years.

Most fans agree with that as well. And there needs to be changes at the top for sure.

But the thing now is even if we fix the problems at the top, I don't think Jose is the man to lead us forward.

You should change the title of the thread, it is no longer a question, you asked the question and 71% answered. Now change the thread title to when the clown is going to feck off?

Not really - fans are starting to understand more and more that what woodward might have done has been the right move. look at Jose's neglect for players like Fred. Absolutely absurd. He had his traditional title winning season last year but had better competition.

That competition would still be better than us even if we added willian, perisic & alderweireld to the team because fundamentally the tactics are too simple for the competition that the PL offers these day. No matter who we put out on the wings- if our goal is to get the best out of a player like Lukaku; that gets demolished by a team playing possesion football scoring 5 goals a game.

Jose is done here on his 3rd season; its not a coincidence.

He wont turn it around IMO. We'll be on the right path once we get a manager who instill confidence in the players, improves them and concurrently adds better ones to turn usbinot a top side. Mourinho signs duds/players who regress, instill no cohesion, spends money and then bemoans what he has. This doesn't appear to be going anywhere to me.

Also I suppose it depends on the definition. We aren't going to remain a mid table side. We're going to challenge for top 4 and you never know, we could finish there to. For me, the aim is to win big trophies. That looks unlike under Mourinho IMO.

We need new players.

I assumed that because of all things you wrote that were nothing more than media driven narrative to sell papers and get clicks. You’ve done nothing but repeat the nonsense that’s been said everywhere and in most cases disproven already. People that want Jose out have already told you that you’re opinion of Jose being at fault for reacting is bullshit, and it’s been explained to you why it’s bullshit. The fa made no charges, which you made some snark comment about the fa being shit. They weren’t so shit that they didn’t hire a lip reader, and a translator to so the could charge him for comments made. It’s painfully clear that you’re happy to take the negative as gospel, and the positive as lies. And no one of worth will every respect that kind of argument.

He was a victim of taunting, and he just ignored it until something was said. And what was said angered that whole bench so much that they all got up in unison. But you blame Jose for reacting to what was said. Ie blaming him for being human. Might as well have made some crass comment like “what did he think was going to happen at a football match...”, or “probably wouldn’t have worn that United managers suit.”. Everybody involved accepts who was at fault, except you. Why? Because you let your bias cloud your reasoning and we go back to you believing everything that negative and nothing that’s positive. You don’t even for a second consider that both might be true, and that Jose is bad for the team and is a victim of the press at the same time. I just read another thread where a comment was attributed to Jose, which was shown just a few posts in to be bullshit yet the replies just keep rolling in like it’s all true. And that’s the real problem of why we are all still arguing. Far too many people believe the accusation, and aren’t willing to accept that they were wrong when it’s proven otherwise. Which is the internet in a nutshell I suppose.

Jose isn’t the devil you or other paint him as, nor is he the angel of innocence he pretends to be. The truth as always is somewhere in the middle. But hyperbolic statements both for and against the man are pointless and only draw out these needless and boring arguement. He’s not going anywhere until he can’t make the champions league next year. That’s just a fact. There’s no one of worth available that could replace him at the moment, that’s also a fact. So arguing and moaning and going to extremes one way or the other is utterly pointless because he’s not leaving. At least not until we can’t make top 4.

Again, I said several times that he wasn't at fault or the instigator, I just found it bizarre that his behaviour afterwards seemed to be completely overlooked (by the way I wasn't literally the only person thinking this, as ur making out).
Since then, his decision last night to not even make a sub can be put into the same category.
When was the last time a team was losing 1-0 and never made a sub?
Has it even ever happened?
It was complete madness yet its barely been mentioned today.

By the way, my reasons for wanting Mourinhio out arent based on recent media coverage, I've been saying it for years, I never wanted him in the first place because of his defensive tactics and, more importantly, because I genuinely think he's suffering some sort of mental breakdown.
If his last stint at Chelsea was not an indicator of this then I dont know what was, for example (just one, I could give 100) how can anyone get a physio sacked for treating a patient and not have their own sanity questioned? Its actually laughable.

Furthermore, as I mentioned, the reason I feel the need to go on, what is admittedly now a rampage, against Mourinhio is because I care about the club.
I wouldnt even care if we were tenth in the league or struggling in the cups if we could see some sort of a plan (e.g. young players coming through or some sort of blueprint for a style of play) or he at least stopped moaning on about how sh*t his own players are but, sadly, it's only getting worse.

You're saying the board will wait until we're out of top 4 contention, why? Why wait?
Again, this is the reason I feel the need to rant on, I've had enough of this acceptance that Mourinhio isn't to blame, we're going nowhere until he goes, simple.

Fully agree and thank you for emphasizing this fact twice. Let's spend 17 billion on three new squads and appoint him as a lifetime manager , CEO and chairman.

We’d still new players to replace the new players from the previous season. That’s what big clubs do! Ask Zidane.

Not really - fans are starting to understand more and more that what woodward might have done has been the right move. look at Jose's neglect for players like Fred. Absolutely absurd. He had his traditional title winning season last year but had better competition.

He is responsible considering he appointed three managers who have failed. If a team is not playing well, managers are to blame. If the managers consecutively fail, the board/Ed is to blame. If the owners continue to let this continue with Ed at the helm, they are to blame as well. It’s not that hard to make sense of this.

Remember when this guy was gloating that out of all the English teams, we had the most CL points. He can't even claim that anymore.

It's going to be a cold lonely season with false dawns followed by ignominious feck ups. These will be punctuated by snide bullshit press conferences consistently digging away at the image of the club, plus a few high-profile fall-outs with players.

The Jose way

To sit on the bench like Bailly and Fred like?

Yes, if they don’t perform. Bailly is in his third season here, he should be doing better when he gets a chance. Fred has only just joined us. If he’s not getting regular games by the end of the season, the question becomes more spikey.

By the end of the season? That's what you think we should expect from a £50m signing? Go away. It stinks of yet another abysmal signing and blatant waste of funds.

We need to hound him out of the club and our pundits need to play their role. The likes of Woody are acting as if this nonsense is acceptable. You get fired at Spurs for what we are watching yet somehow this man's job doesn't seem under threat. I'm currently watching Dortmund play Atl Madrid off the park knowing very well that if it was us against them we'd probably park the bus citing some 'lack of funds' excuse. This is a disgusting state of affairs.

"Go away"

It's still October and we've played less than 10 games in the league. We also can't start 7 players in midfield.

If he's not starting most games by March, when we're approaching the final stretch, then I think serious questions need to be asked. It may be that he wasn't given opportunities, it may be that he didn't taken them, who knows.

I'd personally like to see him start against Everton, it's the perfect game to give him a run out, but I'm not going to get my knickers in a twist a quarter of the way into a season.

I was having a debate a month or so ago with a caftard, I told him the season was over already and we needed to get rid of him now, go interim and prepare for the new manager. He was laughing at me, I wonder what he thinks now....

Probably still laughing. The Mourinho fan club are utterly deluded.

Maybe  It's crazy how some expect a miraculous change of fortune with this team and this manager. Everything that's happened has more or less been predicted with scary accuracy. Mourinho is that predictable, he ain't special no more

Are you ignoring that the very same Mourinho had those title winners in the bottom half of the league? It's been pretty much the same 3 seasons here as it was at Chelsea. Encouraging first season, at Chelsea he won the title in the 2nd season, here he was 2nd because something he couldn't account for is being in the same league as Pep Guardiola. Pep is a level above even in winning trophies. No Pep, and we arguably wouldve won the title last year. Unfortunately, we didn't. We still got that 2nd season Jose impact, and then the collapse afterwards which is what we're seeing now.
Think he has found that points total and finishing 2nd soul destroying. A lot of seasons it would have been another title for him. Unfortunately Pep has now got City ticking and he knows he has no chance.
I'll keep pointing this out every time until this myth dies: 81 points was NOT enough for the title in the majority of the seasons. In the early years of the Premier League, sure. But since 2001, it was enough... twice. In 2011 and 2016. A lot of the times it wasn't even enough for second. Mourinho won all his titles with much higher points totals (95, 90, 87). No Pep and we probably would have still finished second last season albeit with a more reasonable margin.

Getting rid of Mourinho won't automatically fix the problems in the squad.

From back to front, an experienced centre back is needed, a right back is needed, even if Dalot comes in. The team has no cover for the full back positions, unless the club continues with Ashley Young.

In midfield, Matic needs a rest, he's been rushed back from injury since the world cup [Ander Herrera has only come back from injury]. As good as Pogba can be , he still likes to showboat. The team has no width, Martial and Rashford are not wide forwards or wingers, in the mould of Salah, Mane, Sane,Giggs, Harry Kewell, Aaron Lennon, Lamela,Hazard, Lucas Moura or Willian [maybe why Jose wanted Willian and Ivan Perišić].

With our current personnel we can only play 3-5-2 to give the team balance, but we do not have three good centre backs, Linderof will improve, Bailly is out of form, Jones and Rojo are always injured.

4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 is a waste of time as we don't have the personnel. Jose has effectively given up, why would he waste his time and knowledge for the benefit of the club. As the club aspirations do not meet his, the petulant behaviour Jose exhibits is his frustation, he is a winner.

Truth is Jose is the only manager who with the right tools, can go head to head with Pep over a season, Sarri wil play nice football, but the most he will win is cups, the same as Pochettino, Klopp has improved slightly this year, the purchase of Shaqiri and Fabinho, is testament to growth in his tactical repetoire, but it will be a season or two before it all bears fruit.

Heard a United fan (and season ticket holder, or so he said) on Talksport last night on the way home who described himself as a "die hard Mourinho supporter". Said it's not the manager's fault but the players and the board. He used Lukaku as an example - called him a "donkey", said he had better control (despite being "30 stone"). When it was pointed out that this was the player the manager wanted, he didn't know what to say.

I think its reasonable that people think that the problems in the club go higher than the manager. I can understand questioning a players form. I don't get blind support of a manager who to date, has (whichever way you carve it up) not met the club's, the fans' or even (probably) his own expectations. Bizarre.

Narcissistic people have that quality to attract a loyal mob that can’t see past them.

I keep saying the problem isn’t the manager or the board. It’s the fans and will continue to be the fans. We don’t no sh*t the majority of us, lead by a Messiah in SAF and now we got no guidance. That caller pretty much represents us as a club. We angry but we don’t know why, so we listen to the manager because that’s what the Messiah told us to do... but we fail to realise he’s the actual problem. We want to blame the board but we don’t actually know what we are blaming them for. It’s comedy to be honest. The clubs we keep drawling to be, actually know there worth your Real’s, Bayern’s etc. There fans don’t put up with crap like this and because they don’t their club can’t afford to.

I might sound like an idiot but Patrice Evra is going to save this club. The quicker the appointment happens the better.
