The MMA thread

Not too dissimilar to a debate that was being had in here about an untrained bigger person vs a trained mma fighter...

Well, that guy was hardly the bigger person though. Just a skinny hungry guy, probably even lighter than her.

But yeah, training does all the difference in the world.

this one is nice too: White belt BJJ girl had his attacker controlled on the ground until police arrived. (little nice video of the attacker screaming like a rat)

Holloway is a bit bizarre in general!

Fight was pretty much done by then though.

It's funny how Ortega just seems to allow it too, probably shows how far out of it he was by then which isn't suprising given the amount of damage he took.

Hardly disrespectful from Max. He's trying to keep the fight alive but also not seriously hurt his opponent.

Is Jones fighting Smith at UFC 235 or not? See a few images on Instagram showing it as the main event but not been made official.

Anthony Smith ripped Rockhold on Helwani show. He even mentioned something about Luke being the cool guy at school and getting all the girls...

I can understand Smith on a level, but nothing that Rockhold said about him not beating a top 10 at middleweight was a lie.

He went on a rant about him on another show, I think it might of been Luke Thomas and everything he said was pretty much spot on about Rockhold to be fair. Basically saying how he doesn't even know the guy and he's taking shots at him for no reason.

Rockhold always seems a bit of a dick to be honest for me.

Why is that an insult?

A while back he was even talking about going to heavyweight and fighting Werdum hahaha

Not sure why people think Rockhold is a dick....unless they are still upset about his reaction to the 2nd Bisping fight.

Just never quite liked him myself.

The Bisping stuff is probably a factor but he's also always come across as really entitled and smug as well, constantly seems to talk like he has a chip on his shoulder all the time.

Good fighter don't get me wrong just don't really warm to the guy myself.

He comes over as an arrogant cock. I was glad to see him get his ass handed to him by Bisping and Romero.

Oh man, he's a complete knobhead. And Bisping made him look even a bigger knobhead. "It's ok Luke, you know where you are? It's alright, you'll come to"

He's thick as two short planks and has a complete lack of self-awareness. The fact he can't hide his hate for certain people, and clearly cannot take a joke makes it that much more funny.

Nothing wrong with disliking other fighters. I'm sure all fighters have that trait in them but probably hide it a bit more. Rockhold simply wears his disdain for others on his sleeve, which is a bit more honest imo.

Cerone dressed like the Undertaker and damn that girl Jojo be fighting is aesthetically pleasing to my eyes she looks tall and rangey but after a quick look at some fights she looks like she just bites down and swings. Could be a good fight.

Working night shift tomorrow, but guess this one is worth sitting up for after.
It's a decent card, isn't it?

Isn't this snake thing getting old?

Cracking little card, this one. Some thoughts:

Dillashaw/Cejudo is made more interesting by the fact TJ has moved down. He’s made weight, which is the first step. The next is performing at the weight. If it hasn’t depleted him too much, he’ll finish Cejudo, IMO.

Hardy/Crowder - I think most people want Crowder to win, the likelihood is that Hardy finishes him early in crude fashion.

Gillespie/Yancy - It’s Gregor’s fight to lose, for me. He’s an equal opportunity finisher, so wouldn’t be surprised if he pulled off a late TKO/Submission finish. Yancy most likely wants this to descend into chaos. If he can’t make Gillespie fight his fight, it’ll be a long night for Mr. Medeiros.

Glover/Roberson - Teixeira is long past his sell-by date. If he doesn’t get a result against Roberson then it’s time to hang t up, particularly as Roberson has taken this on short notice. The original fight between Glover/Cutelaba was much more intriguing and perhaps if Glover wins, they rebook this one in the future.

Cowboy/Hernandez - What a fight. We’ve seen Cowboy in this position before, with varying results. When cast as the beloved veteran against the young prospect, it’s gone both ways for Donald. He schooled Myles Jury; however, he was blasted by Till. It’s conceibable that Hernandez is actually the most promising of the lot though. This guy looks like the real deal and has the moxie to make it work. Pulling for Cowboy and think he’ll get the win, just. I don’t say that with huge confidence, mind.

Neal/Muhammad - Cracking fight. Neal has been nothing but impressive since signing with the UFC. Searingly fast, an almost languid composure, crisp hands, big power and an ability to pick shots and chain together combinations. Belal is a good test for him as he doesn’t always have to be the hammer, he can also be the nail. He’s tough, gritty and knows how to stay in a fight. Having said that, he’s there to be hit. Against ‘Hands of Steel’, that could be catastrophic. Backing Neal to win here and then push for a top 15/fringe top 15 fight next. Solid prospect.

The UFC are changing the title belts to this. Not sure how i feel i always liked the current ones.
