Apologies if I’m wrong, I presume the Holloway vs Ortega fight is going to be the last title fight to be shown on BT Sports before it switches over to Eleven Sports?

Jones/Gus 2
Cyborg/Nunes

Deal runs until the end of the month, I believe.

Almost off-topic given that he has no fight booked, but I found this interesting regarding McGregor. From a podcast with John Kavanagh:

john kavanagh said:
The honest answer is I don’t know. I haven’t actually spoken to him, I haven’t really seen him since the fight,” Kavanagh said when asked about McGregor’s Instagram post (h/t Adam Guillen Jr. of MMA Mania). “I’ve hit the ground running, got so much on. He’s doing his whiskey tours of the world. It’s sold out, it’s crazy. I don’t know, you’re going to ask me to get into the mind of another human, and I just can’t do it. He said what he said and you’d have to get him as your next guest, fingers crossed, and ask him.”

Unless he's doing a shitload of training away from Kavanagh, that's really not promising as regards to him making a proper stab at getting back to the top again. I'm looking for precedents here, and I come back to boxers like Duran and Hatton who took long hiatuses from training between camps, although it hurt them in terms of consistency and longevity respectively. Or the likes of Mayweather, but he supposedly stayed in and around the gym consistently. It seems different though in that those guys were as developed as they were ever going to get in their art, whereas Conor clearly has a massive, gaping hole in his game and appears to be doing feck all to do anything about it.

Sort of having a bit of a lul in my feelings towards MMA right now but Holloway and Ortega with JJ and the bullet might be the medicine I need to rekindle a bit of love for it.

Both Holloway and Ortega seem really good lads, shame to see either lose! Hope it's a good fight though got the making to be one.

Yep. But the good thing is they both are really young, so they will fight each other many times hopefully.

I hope Max can pull it off this Saturday though, so I'm praying he is 100% healthy. (Brian said he looked him in the eyes, and that he don't believe he will make it to the fight... :nervous:)

Judging by his social media stuff, he's still training a good bit, just hasn't been doing so with Kavanagh yet. Which is pretty normal. Kavanagh is not solely McGregor's coach, he has other responsibilities. They'll team up again soon, probably when they know they've a fight booked.

Can't wait. Come on Max!

JJs bulked up a fair bit, but Scheva just too big and strong at this weight I fear for the bogey woman. Heart turn between the two, I'll have to watch this as a neutral!

I think Valentina will finish (submission) JJ in the first or second round. I would love to see JJ surprising the world and getting away with the victory though, but i don't see how. Valentina probably gonna be the champion for a long long time.

Max vs Brian, i got Max winning a decision, but wouldn't be surprise if he gets the TKO.

Been away from this thread for ages. Been massively busy with work and travelling for it a lot more than usual. Haven't even had the chance to watch the Conor Khabib fight yet (:nervous:). Seems it went like I thought it would but that Conor looked worse than i thought he would (he should have left the shot to Ferguson and had a warm up fight, sparring won't prepare you 100% for Khabib, but IMO Khabib wins that 9/10 times anyway). Anyway excited to be back to watch tonight. Rooting for Max (my guy along with Conor) and Joanna.

Expecting Val to catch Joanna at some stage but if Jonna's chin is better at 125 then I can see her winning a decision because generally her output is much higher than Val's and she is better at fighting on the front foot from what I've seen. Max should beat Ortega quite decisively if he is healthy (I hope he is, I would rather a fighter retire young if he has real problems). Max is much better on the feet and while Ortega is better on the ground his takedown game is suspect. Max brings a huge pace, has a great chin (famous last words) and more importantly is a very intelligent fighter. I'm calling a stoppage in round 3 in favour of Max. However I've had Ortega losing almost every round he has fought in the UFC but he has always found a way to find the finish which makes this an exciting fight. It ain't 1 vs 2 in my mind though because I think Aldo and Mendes would deal with Ortega and Aldo would do it with relative ease but we'll see how Ortega looks tonight.

@Raoul the thing I love about Max is that he doesn't need personality to sell a fight. He always brings it every fight and would basically fight anyone at any time. Also that video you posted is disgusting, that guy took almost 30 more shots to the head than he should have.

Edit: have you seen the last 15 seconds of Max vs Lamas by any chance?

Rakic with the backfist. He wasn’t hanging around this evening. Looks powerful. Intriguing fighter in a division that needs them. I like it.

That Nelson guy had zero ground game. Decent looking stand up but you won't hang in the UFC with zero ground defence.

 I was like Lima needs to get off the fence then BOOM! Always respect to guys who don't follow up even though it's a risky move.

Brilliant of Lima to realise it was over at that point. Always loved Hunt for that because who wants him lying on them throwing bombs. Great left hook too. Didn't realise Katona had won TUF, he looked great on that should be an interesting fight. Also fighting with Kavaunagh so I'm up for him now.

Lopez for the taking now on the third. Tired as feck.

Thank god for that decision because that guy was screwed up at the end, he could barely get up but at least the right guy got the decision.

 Sub all day, very slick locking out the arm too. I like Katona.
