The MMA thread

aren't u the clueless cnut that did t know what a punches chance was

LOL. A punchers chance is EXACTLY what Conor had. Are you touched?

A punchers chance is a colloquial term that is understood by THE ENTIRE COMBAT SPORTS COMMUNITY, to define a situation where ONE GUY has a LONGSHOT chance to win, by virtue of his power or striking advantage as it would pertain to MMA.

That is literally what Conor had in this fight. It is LITERALLY what I said he had in this fight.

Please explain what you thought punchers chance meant. I'm giddy with anticipation.

You’ve no idea where I’ve lived in my life.

If I only lived in Plato’s cave, I’d think the shadows on the walls were the real world. But I’d be wrong.

Some things are perception but there are absolute truths in life. It’s better for a society/culture to teach us that insulting someone’s family is a cnut move that should be criticised and mocked for its pettiness, than for that society to normalise death threats in response to such comments.

But shouldn't society/culture be teaching us that we shouldn't be insulting someone's family in the first place tho?

I do think that blood feud is crazy remnant of the barbaric times long passed in those societies but do you get riled up when someone's insulting your close family tho? Words have more weight to them in some societies imo.

Don't doubt it, just haven't seen it yet. Also doesn't change my opinion on what happened inside the cage. That mayhem doesn't happen if Conor doesn't throw at the guy sitting on top of the cage.

None of this happens if Khabib doesn't attack Dillon Danis. That was what caused the brawl, that's where the heaviest punishment will lie. Nobody involved in the regulation of the fight is going to randomly decide that attacking people in the crowd doesn't count for some reason, or that what happened in the cage was totally seperate to what was going on outside the cage when it clearly wasn't.

Who's saying it excuses Khabib's actions? It was wrong of him to attack a member of McGregor's team.

Since you've deflected the point I tried to make in my previous post regarding being reasonable, I gonna ask for your opinion in who's the more reasonable of the two, McGregor or Khabib?

khabib sounded like he was excusing his actions and his team in the presser. And his fans have been on twitter saying conor got what he deserved not even recognizing the severity of what they did.

Your question is irrelevant. Neither have been reasonable throughout but lets be clear that nothing that conor does excuses team khabib acting exactly like backwards thugs they got offended for being called.
If this was just a random fight with poor blokes in Vegas team khabib would be spending the night in jail so they should be thankful they are rich and famous.

@Nucks
Everything stems from Khabib jumping the cage. Everything else can be explained away with fearing for your own safety etc but it all resulted from Khabib instigating a riot.
Fan brawls, octagon riots, the fecking Nevada governor running from the building while fearing for his safety.
It all stemmed from Khabib.

I'm very much not a fan of either Conor or Khabib. I was a fan of him 3 or so years ago but I know far too much about what Conor does and has done in Dublin, let alone the UFC, to ever like the guy. I'll always support an Irish man or woman in any sport and hope they win, but I don't like him as a person.

This is from a tweet

Joe Rogan: "Dillon (Danis) was absolutely insulting Khabib, saying something to him and provoking him and then Khabib just jumped over the cage and attacked him. I couldn't believe my eyes while it was happening." #UFC229

Fair enough, that's something I can understand.

Uh, when the fan footage makes the rounds showing Conor throw the first punch, which the NSAC did not review, we will see.

I'm pretty sure Fox sports will have had the incidents from multiple angles.

That video you posted won't load for me, did McGregor actually punch someone unprovoked?

Reminded me a bit of Cantona’s Kung fu kick on the fan when he was sent off. And he was banned for the rest of the season....

Both societies can teach that though...and, we’re talking about the response to that.

And you can get riled up, we all do, but again what’s the response? Saying “words have more weight” isn’t enough of an argument. That fact is the problem.

It shows one of Khabibs team climb the cage, get to the top, and then McGregor akwardly jump up and throw a punch at him. The guy then starts raining hammer fists on Conor. Eventually he is pulled off the cage, and in other clips you see that guy being restrained, moments before it cuts to show the two other guys climb into the cage, where Conor and the guy in the blackshirt(not the first guy in a black shirt that hammer fisted Conor) throw punches at each other, followed up by the guy in the red shirt sucker punching Conor as he is engaged with the other guy in the black shirt.

Kahbib is away to get stripped surely or fired surely, you just can’t do that. You don’t pick a fight with Dillon either, that mofo will never back down. DC and Rockhold the voices of reason trying to calm them all down.
Didn’t really bother watching the fight, hug fest 2018, just skimmed it as I fast forwarded it. That Ferguson vs Petis fight was good.

Any reasonable person.

No reasonable person has any difficulty determining that the things you listed such as " talking shit about someone's family gets you hurt or even killed in some cases" are barbaric relics of a long gone age and should only be historic artifacts.

You're making a lot of assumptions here. There are plenty of places in the world where people have been living by a very different set of rules, for many generations. In fact, there are plenty of places where faith and family are, and always have been, more important than a human life.

Danis shouldnt of said anything.

I didn't watch the presser.

We don't why Khabib attacked that guy tho, probably something he was shouting to Khabib during the match.

If we know that McGregor with his posse attacked a bus, throw a dolly at it and in doing so, he injured other people just because Khabib was in that bus, who's more of a backward thug then?

He took a swing at someone from Khabib’s corner (I think?) who was on his way over the cage to join the brawl outside.

Well if he only swung and didn't connect then thats likely why the commission aren't going any further with McGregor. Khabib's in big trouble though i think, if he was thinking about retiring this has probably made his decision for him.

And my simple point is that nothing Danis was shouting justifies what khabib and his people did. Nothing said justifies almost starting a riot and attack people like that, endangering the lives of innocent people around just there to watch the event. If team khabib doesn't understand how sports work in the UFC and Las Vegas then they simply aren't qualified to be in the ufc no matter how tough they might be as street thugs.

Aldo has jumped out of the cage a few times, one of the first I remember doing it. He was going to celebrate with the crowd tho. There is one where he is deep deep in the crowd.
Yeah, and he backflips off it which was awesome.

Very different doing it in celebration though, entirely different atmosphere

Danis shouldnt of said anything.

Talking shit through the cage happens fairly regularly. Hell, Nate Diaz started talking shit to McGregor's team as he was fighting McGregor. It's nothing particularly unusual but the reaction to it was.

You can't leap into the crowd to attack people after a fight just because they're saying mean things to you. If you do you risk sparking the brawls we saw inside the cage, outside the cage and on the street, which is why Khabib is certainly going to get a much heavier punishment than McGregor will despite McGregor landing heavier shots in the brawl that followed.

Here is what is interesting. It actually looks like Conor swung first, or at the very least provoked a confrontation with the first guy where they both swing at each other. Conor did get sucker punched, but it wasn't out of the blue.

Watch this. https://clips.twitch.tv/SwissCheerfulTriangleKappa

He did swing first, before that clip starts. He tries to follow Khabib over the side, gets dragged back, then randomly takes a swing at someone from atop the octogon. That's what provokes the other guys to jump in the cage.
