The MMA thread

When a guy says "I could have finished him" normally you roll your eyes. 30-25- 30-25 30-24, yea, I didn't roll my eyes. Khabib is a lord.

Cyborg will run riot through this division if they can anyone to fight her...only way I see her losing a fight is by sub.

Honestly, Holly could win a rematch I think.

This fight showed that Holly is an absolute BEAST in the clinch. She was basically rag dolling Cyborg in the clinches. If Holly was game for a rematch, some old fashioned Handy Couture clinch and dirty box against the cage could be something Holly could use against Cyborg.

It's not her comfort zone, and she obviously didn't gameplan for it, or prepare for it, but if she training camped specifically to clinch and dirty box, Cyborg really didn't have much for Holly in the clinch.

Pretty strong display from Cyborg. Lots of patience mixed with tactical striking. Surprised Holly won a couple of rounds from two judges.

In real time I had Holly winning 1 and 2 with Cyborg winning the other three. Very close opening rounds though so could be different on a second viewing. Seems two judges had it the same as that so Holly could have won the title had she won the 5th round, very interesting as I'm seeing a lot of people disagreeing with the scoring.

Barring injuries surely it'll be Khabib/Ferguson next. Barboza is a warrior, a lot of fighters would have given up in the first round from that mauling.

Khabib: Connor, now has loads of money, he does not need to fight. He go spend his money. Once no money left, Connor come back and fight.

So true.

Difference between Conor and say a GSP.

GSP cleaned out his own division, didn't let the other guys do it for him. Then again, it's smart for Conor. He's a fraud, and everyone with a clue about MMA knows it. He is charismatic to a certain group of people, and he talked his way into a bunch of big fights, but he has yet to defend either of his gifted belts and I doubt he has any intention to ever take a fight with a well prepared, gifted wrestler. He looked terrified when Mini Mendez with 5 or 7 days of training camp was smothering and battering him, and he lucked out that Mendez has 5 or 7 days to train for that fight and gassed out. He got smashed by a Journeyman in Nate Diaz, and then won a controversial decision in the rematch. Let's not kid ourselves here, Conor is a unique confluence of some skill, some luck, a mouth, and the UFC giving him favorable matches and marketing the bejesus out of him.

Conor is the champ the way Bisping was the champ, he had the belt, but anyone with a clue knew he wasn't even top 5 in the division.

Khabib would struggle v Conor if he fought the same way as last night. He's constantly moving forward with no head movement to close the distance since his stand up is so poor.
If Conor planted his feet aka Cody v Cruz then he lights Khabib up imo.
He's constantly off balance throwing these nothing punches, it's hilarious to watch

Conor v Khabib would be a fascinating matchup since they are both forward moving and would obviously clash in a hurry. This is why imo, I don't think it would last very long - with either Conor landing his signature left or else Khabib taking him down at which point it would be over quickly since Conor's ground game is very poor compared to many of his contemporaries.

Khabib v Tony would make for a much more interesting fight since both are excellent on the ground and so both striking and groundwork would be in full display.

Only thing is Khabib can take a dig. Im not sure would knock him out.

Maybe if he didn't pull out of so many fights he would. Ability is there but in the past application wasn't.hopefully we see him fight consistently now.

That works both ways for Conor as well. He has missed fights due to his infantile behavior of not wanting to fly to Vegas to do promo work and more recently due to his antics at Bellator events. That's actually worse than Khabib missing weight or getting injured.

I heard he got a new dietician. So hopefully thats behind him now. Anyway, I think we will definitely see Ferguson vs Khabib this coming year.

I back Conor with his Dana feud though.
He was cut up about that fighter dying, I have a cousin training at the gym and everything fell apart for a good while after. Kavanagh was a mess.
Dana mishandled that whole situation.
