No surprise there Shevchenko is the real deal. She can beat Nunes over 5 rounds too, but it will be a close competitive fight.

Agreed. I get the impression Nunes is concerned about a rematch. In the first fight she dominated rounds 1 and 2, but Shevchenko came back and won round 3, to where I got the feeling she may win the fight if it were 5 rounds.

Saying the end of this year or start of next

If true we won't be seeing him back in UFC for a long time

I'm sure we will see him before that since his kid is due in May or thereabouts, plenty of time between then and a Mayweather fight for one more in the UFC. Although with the sort of money being thrown around in Boxing, I doubt he will ever have to fight again in the UFC.

And the commentators were saying he stopped it start bell when clearly it was before... Masvidal looked savage though.
Dana said afterwards that it is what it is, it was so loud he couldn't hear the bell.
Surely that makes Herb look worse?
There was the Rockhold / Weidman clusterfeck that was allowed to happen simpley because Herb knew the end of the round was near.
The Bisping / Silva disaster... This fecking ref!

He's had some shockers, I don't know about Bisping vs. Silva though, if anything Silva confused matters there I wouldn't blame Herb Dean. Cerrone one was poor though and he clearly panicked.

It's not the knockout, if i remember correctly he gave Bisping near enough an extra minute on the stool to recover.

The whole thing was a mess. It's hard to blame just Herb Dean for it though.

Anderson blatantly knew the fight wasn't over (cos he was told about 5 times) but acted like he didn't, jumping on the cage celebrating and sat in the middle of the octagon. It probably could of been managed better from everyone but he didn't give him more time on the stool. He gave him the set amount of time once the trainers were allowed in...it wasn't Herb Dean not letting them in it was others.

This could be his ploy. Get the fight with Floyd and get paid a tonne to fight a relatively relaxed fight where you have no chance of winning. Afterwards he can walk away millions richer while reiterating that Floyd would have no chance un a 'real' fight. Conor always talked about making history and getting rich and getting out young and I reckon he's always meant it.

Rhonda shitting the bed and Jones' consistent problems puts Conor in a really strong bargaining position because without him the ufc will be making a lot less money every year.

He's always maintained he wants to make money and get out whilst he can. The UFC knew it (as he said it) I don't blame them as he is a cash cow and you milk it whilst you can. They had the opportunity to build stars around him though, put them on his cards and showcase them more etc. I know it's easier said than done and it also takes the fighter to capitlize on the extra attention but I think they may regret not doing more in the next few years. Conor doesn't need the UFC now really and if he gets a Mayweather fight then he definitely won't need them again as has been rightfully pointed out. Dana and the UFC created a monster for themselves now, they desperately need new stars if they want to keep the fans that Conor has brought.

They seem quite high on Ngannou at the moment for example and you can't blame them, even then the risk is the heavyweight division is so unpredictable the hype around him could soon be derailed!

Cerrone looked finished since the first knock-down tbf. He was out of it between rounds. I don't think it's the worst thing in the world to be hasty to step in when one of the fighters has already been concussed.

So Manuwa vs. Corey Anderson bumped to main event UFC London... this is a joke right?:nervous:

worst card of the season so far.

Light HeavyweightJimi Manuwa vs. Corey Anderson
Bantamweight Brad Pickett vs. Henry Briones
Welterweight Leon Edwards vs. Vicente Luque
Lightweight Marc Diakiese vs. Teemu Packalén
Middleweight Tom Breese vs. Oluwale Bamgbose
Middleweight Bradley Scott vs. Scott Askham
Light Heavyweight Darren Stewart vs. Francimar Barroso
Lightweight Reza Madadi vs. Joseph Duffy
Heavyweight Daniel Omielańczuk vs. Timothy Johnson
Women's Bantamweight Veronica Macedo vs. Lina Länsberg
Featherweight Arnold Allen vs. Makwan Amirkhani

quite underwhelming. Hopefully its one of those to end up having some great fights.

I would be pissed if I bought tickets and they just bumped up a fight to main event. That's so bloody sly.

Looking forward to see Vicente Luque fight again. He's got a really exciting style and is going to become a contender very soon.

Agreed, his reaction to the stoppage was quite telling (this fight is only ending one way).

So Romero gets the next title shot at Middleweight. I'm tired of the UFC shafting Jacare, it's ridiculous that they let Hendo get a shot and still overlooked him after. He at the very least drew with a juiced Romero in their fight. Romero's obvious fence grab in the 3rd wasn't even penalised and I doubt he would've lasted with Jacare on top of him with a few minutes left. The UFC needs to sort their shit out and let the best fighters with the best runs fight for the title. Look at Maia, they clearly don't want him to be champ when they are offering him Lawler or Nick Diaz. He's done more than enough to wait for the winner of Woodley v Wonderboy. They shafted Holloway for ages too while letting Conor run amuck.

Their problems with Conor right now are their own making. They've let him get bigger than the company and stupidly depended on Rhonda to come through against Nunes. There's a huge possibility that Conor won't fight the winner of Ferguson and Khabib, not because he's scared of either but because he's so much the money maker that he calls the shots and will probably ask for stupid money and partnerships while flirting with Floyd.

I love Conor and actually feel he's the most underpaid fighter they have considering the numbers he draws but the UFC have to reign this shit in and start having those deserving of the title shots be the ones getting it. For example having Jones fight for the title on his next fight back is stupid and just lets guys like him walk all over the company. Or trying to burn Conor for media shit but then allowing Rhonda do what she wants because she's too much of a pussy to face the cameras and questions.

Agree with large swathes of that mate. McGregor has put them in a spot, his inactivity only amplifies his importance to them. With that in mind.....

As much as it might grind some gears, Jones is worthy of stepping in, his own dumbassery and some bad match making has stopped him from really become the draw that refects his record in the sport. He is an all time great inside the Octogon, an mma legend.

He created some good heat with Cormier the first time around, which I believe turned into his biggest ppv night for the company.
Jones' bad reputation had began to preceed him by the the time of the first Cormier fight, the cynic in me considers that he recognised a natutal dislike between the two which he/UFC ratcheted up to a 10.

I think they're scrambling to put together good fights/cards at the moment, Jones vs DC 2 on a strong card is a gimme for the UFC right now, post active McGregor.

Edit: Should have prefaced this with IF DC beats Rumble....:nervous:

I don't quite get this Jacare argument. Whether or not Romero is juicing is irrelevant he's never been proven of it. Don't get me wrong looking at the guy I'm sure he is but the UFC has a drug testing policy and he's never failed so you can't quite punish him for something he hasn't done. Romero and Jacare have fought fairly recently and Romero won, he is surely therefore ahead of Jacare in the list? He didn't draw with him either, he lost. Again your opinion on the matter unfortunately doesn't decide who gets title fights in the UFC. The Hendo one was a bit of a joke I'd agree but they literally are giving the best fighter with the best run the title shot. The current rankings are:

Romero on an 8 fight win streak
Rockhold lost his last fight
Jacare 1 fight win streak (lost to Romero before that)
Weidman lost his last fight (to Romero)

Surely it's perfectly fair Romero gets the title shot? He is the current most deserving one of that lot for me it seems to be a no brainer.

The Maia stuff is trying to make fights for fans. I bet if they offered him no fights people would complain again that they're not letting him fight. Why not just see what happens after Woodler vs Wonderboy before complaining about it?

The Conor stuff has been done to death as well in this sub so it's opinions at the end of the day I can see both sides. I don't really feel sorry for Holloway though. He did his whole "Jose Waldo" shite and then Aldo said he'd fight him and suddenly Holloway was injured then....now he can't fight him cos he's making a movie or something. Just looks a bit of an idiot for doing it really.

With regards to Romero, I get your point, and agree with it but I think people don't want to see him get the title shot because of the dubious tactics he pulls during fights. Stool-gate against Kennedy, Fence-gate against Jacare and Water-gate against Weidman  I love it though, he's like a WWE heel. I reckon he'll give Bisping a chair shot when the ref isn't looking. Herb Dean will just wave "play on".

Maia is just extremely unlucky in the fact that Wonderboy and Woodley had a draw. Therefore he can't really say much being looked over. He better get the next shot though...

Yeah I can see why people don't like him, I'm not a huge fan. I think he's roided out his mind and uses dirty tactics when he's fighting as well but my opinion isn't really relevant for UFC title fights. On his record he does deserve to get a title shot. He's beat 2 of the next 3 contenders in his last 2 fights including 1 brutal knockout. I'd personally love Bisping to knock him out but that's just me there's plenty of people who think Bisping is a dick as well so it's swings and round abouts.

Yeah Maia is unfortunate and I sympathise with him but the Woodley vs Wonderboy fight was hugely entertaining and there's no way they weren't doing a rematch after a draw and a fight like that.

I'm semi pissed  it's my first UFC event so I was hoping for a good show, but I also only got the cheapest tickets. I'd be really pissed if I paid £100 a ticket.

Manuwa vs Anderson has potential to be an entertaining fight but it's not a main event.

The new rules, even if one hand down it's ok, right?

So even if that 2nd knee was to the head he is good I reckon

Didn't know that

I probably should have. I guess you can't kick someone the head if just both knees are down?

got this from abcboxing

http://www.abcboxing.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/unified_rules_fouls_rev0816.pdf

"12.
*Kneeing and/or Kicking the head of a grounded opponent:
A grounded fighter is defined as: Any part of the body, other than a single hand and
soles of the feet touching the fighting area floor. To be grounded, both hands palm/fist
down, and/or any other body part must be touching the fighting area floor.
A single knee, arm, makes the fighter grounded without having to have any other body part in
touch with the fighting area floor. At this time, kicks or knees to the head will not be
allowed"

Niko price is a tough mofo... got worked in the first one and came back to win it. Always good to see comebacks.
