fecking hell.

I've shouted Ronda's praises plenty of times on here and backed her heavily at times for this fight, ended up massively wrong so fair play.
 
I've been telling you all Nunes is a beast for ages. The Zingano loss was a bit of a fluke as she was absolutely pounding her and then gassed out. Similarly Zingano completely shit the bed against Rousey and should have done a lot better in that fight. Since Nunes has moved to ATT she's been absolutely destroying everyone, with the exception of Valentina, the second best fighter in the division.

Oh and now just think about the fact that Joanna also trains at the same camp now. Yeah that's scary for the other women.

I still need a bit more convincing (which sounds crazy after what she just did to Ronda). Very good fighter but I need more convincing that she's great.

The division is going to need to recover now IMO as it's just lost Ronda, Tate and likely Holm (due to moving up in weight) in a short space of time. They need some fresh blood in that they need to start building up.

I do actually think Valentina might beat her over 5 rounds but it should be close. Nunes coming out of the gates flying and then Valentina taking over late.

Should be an interesting fight. I expect Valentina to win fairly comfortably but Pena has definitely surprised me before and she is extremely gritty. It's really so hard to predict MMA it's hard to ever be too confident of an outcome.
 
The problem for Ronda is that despite her obvious skills she has a weak mentality. When McGregor lost to Diaz he used it to light a fire and evolved into a much better fighter.

When Holm beat Ronda, Ronda threw her toys out of the pram. She basically walked away from the sport and became reclusive. She obviously hasn't worked on the weaknesses in her game either.

Considering the last time she lost she threatened suicide, I fear this comeback may be hugely detrimental to Rouseys mental health
 
It was a totally lame effort. She couldn't slip a punch if her life depended on it.

Nunes can punch a bit but both Rousey and Tate's efforts against her were embarrassing. Just walking into punches and turning away.

In fairness 2 her they're 2 of the best ever and in theory shouldn't of been past their prime. It# not Nunes fault that Rousey has a terrible coach and she obliterated Tate. Fair fecks to Nunes she's beat them both easily and barely been touched. i'd guess she might fight Shevchenko next but she's already beat her as well.

Rousey is done, her refusal to change teams is worrying, she really needs to improve desperately but I can't see her coming back so it hardly matters.

Compare it to Garbrandt who put ion the perfect performance against Cruz and it shows the contrast.
 
Hated Rousey from day 1 and her demise brings me joy beyond words....

P4P is a stupid list though in fairness. She did belong in there at 1 point. She was the best fighter in her division and one of the most dominant champions in the UFC. That's just revisionist history to try and make people look silly for suggesting so. The division has caught up with her and she has refused to adapt her game but lets not pretend she's always looked like this. She did run through a dvision and by the very definition of P4P she was in the list.

Agree re the second point but Rogan has a habit of talking people up before throwing them under a bus and pretending he never said it. He's done it with Rousey and others in the past and will continue to do so in the future. He is essentially a fan like everyone else though (albeit one employed by the UFC) and a lot of fans have silly opinions. Dig through here I'm sure you'll find plenty of mine, yours and everyone elses.
 
Nah she never belonged on any such list. As I've said several times on here already she was the Royce Gracie of female mma. A big fish in a small pond when it all started and as you've rightly pointed out someone who's now been left behind by her competition.

She'll always be a pioneer for women's mma in that respect but her skillset was never anywhere near rounded enough to talk about her being one of the p4p best.
 
Thought the ref stopped it a bit soon, guess Ronda will quit and go to WWE on a part time contract
 
I'm so happy to see that fraud Rousey get knocked out again, and even happier to see the reaction of her creepo fans. I'm going to dig up a few posts later in which some caftards actually made the claim that Rousey was one of the greatest athletes on Earth.

Ok each to their own. Like I said it's a stupid fictional list anyway. How do you define who gets on it? Laughing at people who put her on it is a bit odd though cos she was a hugely dominant champion and won fights ridiculously easy. It's a subjective opinionated list, you can't say an opinion is wrong really especially when that opinion isn't that outlandish. It just looks like a way to make yourself seem the smartest guy in the room when people dismiss others opinions with revisionist history making. Everyone is stupid after the fact.

She was out on her feet, another couple of seconds and she was flat out on the canvas instead, he did her a favour stopping it then really.

It wasn't rigged, Nunes is a more complete fighter, the level of the division has just jumped up a notch and Ronda is sadly a one trick pony.

For Ronda the last 3 fights before Holly, her rep was knocking people out, I mean her total cage time against Meisha was more than the rest of her career put together I think. I think we are seeing a microcosm of what happened in the men's game 15 years ago, your base is important but MMA is a treadmill of skills.

Oh sweet your good at Jiu Jitsu, now so is everyone but they have powerful striking, Oh cool your good at Jiu Jitsu and striking, now so is everyone but they also have good wrestling so they are just gonna ground and pound you.

Specialists are fine but they rarely get the belt.

Rousey can't take a punch and her mentality is suspect, I doubt we see her again.

Yeah, I thought Rogan was doing his usual "He/She's HURT" after a semi-decent shot lands and it was the just first exchange, 10 seconds later ... yeah this is done.

He said he could have spent 100m on promoting the champ pre fight and people would still focus on Ronda and not know who Nunes is. Now everyone knows who Nunes is and that's why he's a promoter and Joe isn't.

Fair fecks to Cruz in the post fight press conference though. The media were even ofering him excuses "Didn't seem himself" but he said he felt fine and good just better man won on the night. Got to respect people like that.

Why?

I know it seems strange and unfair. But a fighter gets paid based on how much money they make the company

I expect Nunes to make more in her next fight, but unless she ever gets close to the level of fame as Rousey she will never make that kind of money

If last nights main event was Nunes v Shevchenko the PPV buys and gate would only be a fraction of what it was because of Rousey

He's talking utter bollocks. He put all his eggs in the Ronda basket and she's done. Nobody knows anything about Nunes other than she's the second fighter in a row to absolutely batter Rousey who got zero media coverage and a fraction of the money.

Nunes v whoever in her next defense won't sell ppvs because he has not invested anything in promoting her (or Holm, or Shevchenko), so nobody gives a shit. She didn't even get a chance to do any pre-match media (which would have increased her profile considerably) because White gave his favourite Rousey a pass.
 
Will be interesting how McGregor takes the fact Ronda was allowed to have a media black out

They may well have given themselves a headache with that decision

Also by all accounts although last nights did well money wise, it wasn't in the same league as a McGregor PPV

Oh absolutely, gotta respect the man after that, and he certainly went up in my estimation with how he reacted to the loss. The media handed him plenty of chances to put some kind of spin on it.

It'll build Nunes up though, especially after such a devastating win. I guarentee she's front and centre of every promotional event for womens mma from now on, they were already hyping her up on Fox as someone who will be champ for a long time etc.
Dana wanted to raid the Ronda brand one last time, even if she won she only had 1 or 2 fights left in her, add in the fact everybody would still focus on Ronda no matter how they promoted Nunes. It's not as if there was this massive outcry over it, it was Joe bitching about it in a passive aggressive manner.
The same Joe who kept signing Ronda's praises during Nunes walk in, the same Joe claiming this is the biggest fight of Nunes career etc etc despite Nunes being the champ.
The same Joe who, in the wrap up segment, claimed Nunes felt disrespected about the whole thing despite asking her the same question 5 mins earlier and she denied it all.
 
Agree with that. Also they hyped Holly Holm loads after she beat Ronda. But obviously losing the title right away put the skids on that

I expect last night will have done a lot for Nunes.
