Sage has a lot of work to do

Probably should go away for a year or so. Only Galls 4th pro fight and apart from one good shot he dominated him

Gall will move up the ranks quickly, even if his stand up is a bit weak at the moment. Once he gets you on the ground, he will have his way.

What I wouldn't give for all UFC cards to be ending at this time of night

I'm getting too old for those 6am finishes

I thought that fight was a toss up but as soon as I saw Firas Zahabi walking out with Gall, I knew it would be him

yeah man, i was expecting big improvement by Sage since his last fight. Had no idea about what was going on the background.

This should have been his 3rd loss in a row (judges awarded him the Marin fight). I really was expecting urgency from Sage in his evolution, but he hasn't changed much since his debut 14 months ago. Involved if anything. Like a white version of Uriah Hall.

Wanted Sage to win, can't stand Gall but Sage seems stagnated... Needs to do something about his ground game or opponents will just target that and he won't be able to show off his stand up.

Nice to see that bellend Mike Perry lose, Jouban looked very disciplined.

Waterson is so hot and she handled PVZ quick, didn't have enough time to release my rocket :(

Gall looks to have no standup whatsoever. Sage got caught landing a haymaker but up to then he was lighting Gall up when Mickey couldn't find the easy leg for the takedown.

Decent card, enjoyed all the fights.

Sage is in a weird position, he looks lost when it goes to the ground, it looked like he was just waiting to tap out to be honest. Gall is really good at marketing himself and getting big fights, he understands how the UFC works more than the veterans it seems.

Glad Faber won on his retirement and it was an easy night for Waterson as well.

There's no doubt Sage needs to work on his wrestling and ground game but I think it's easy for people to forget that this dude is just 20 years old and he's fighting at the absolute highest level in MMA. Needs time to hone his skills, seems to have a lot of haters but personally I hope he improves, the kid looks like a star and for 20 years old he's already a good talent even if it's clear there's a lot more work to be done.

Two of Dana's "projects" losing in the same night. Doesn't get any better.

I don't dislike the guy. He seems a nice enough lad and I think people are a bit harsh on him cos og this.

Out of interest though by "looks like a star" do you mean in terms of how he actually looks or when he is fighting? When he fights and it suits his style he does look good but when it doesn't like last night or vs Barberena he looks pretty average. He looks like he was waiting to tap last night the minute he got taken to the ground. He's 3-2 in the UFC and I think the 3 he has fought have been cut, it's definitely not star in the making fighter.

Pickett went down from that left hook real damn quick. Not a bad fight, but not the dramatic ending Faber wanted probably.

Gall is looking quite good already, he's now killed two of Dana's pet project. Neat.

Gutted at Paige getting choked out.

Appeared on Youtube today, nice interview. Might come back sooner than expected as well.

I hope Nunes derails Rousey before that hype train starts up again.

ehhh, I'm in two minds about that, I kinda like the storyline of her 'redeeming' herself, but little looks to have changed in her camp and I have this horrible feeling she hasn't learnt a god damn thing and thinks the Holm head kick was a fluke.

The problem with Rousey is that the UFC threw her okay fighters a few times and hyped them up as a murderers row, Bethe Correia, for example, was this knockout power monster, despite knocking out like a grand total of 2 people or something. This combined with her overall GOAT level hype ("she could beat up Floyd Mayweather") means she has this impression her striking is legit as feck, when it isn't, Holm has looked fairly ordinary since that head kick. I mean anyone can get caught by a random head kick and KO'd but I think that fight was lost a round before that even happened and Nunes is has more power than Holm.

In fairness though re your last point about Holm you could say the same about Nunes most impressive wins. She destroyed Tate who then got pretty easily beat by Pennington after that. It's pretty clear in hindsight Tate was on the decline and equally was losing her fight pretty convincingly vs. Holm before a brilliant submission win.

Holm was a bad style match up for Rousey I'd say. I don't know in Nunes is, she's a bit sloppier in her striking than Holm is (or was on the Rousey night at least.) I think if Rousey has potential to win easily it just depends on her mentality personally. Judging by what I've ready online etc it seems she is still pretty bitter about the Holm loss and still somehow not able to accept the defeat which is odd.

I think they've got script already in the works. Rousey wins the belt at 207 then chases Holly Holm up a division for a rematch and the 145 title, assuming Holly wins her fight at 208.

Hopefully Nunes KO's her again.
