The MMA thread

Rogan is the same although slightly more tolerable.

I nearly muted the TV during the JJ vs. KK match at 205. Rogan has a narrative he likes to stick to (Ronda is once in a lifetime, nearly crying when she beat Correira) but he was painful during that fight. Any time there was a decent Karolina attack he'd ignore it and go over the top on something JJ did about 20 seconds before. It was annoying to listen to. I get people will have favourites but the commentary is meant to be impartial!

Yeah, I've noticed it a few times, I actually love it, watching a round where he's doing nothing but hype Fighter A and Fighter B doesn't have this or that, then KAPOW Fighter B lands a bomb and it's nothing but Fighter B hype.

To be fair to him, Joanna was point fighting the shit out of Karolina for basically 4 and a half rounds, there's not much to talk about.

Dana always use to say he didnt want UFC to go the way of boxing yet it's becoming more and more like it day by day with all this Conor bollocks.....not sure why he is running the show....he makes the UFC a lot of money but he gets paid well too.....number one contender should get a title shot...this shit about Khabib not fighting enough is bullshit.

 He's not even had the title a week! People probably wouldn't be happy unless he fought this weekend at Belfast.
It don't help that he's already said he's off till May and his camp are sounding out Diaz 3.

He didn't say he's off til May. He said his kid is due in May and he wants what he feels he's owed before he fights again. Reading between the lines I think he'd fight early next year and then have a break after that.

As I've said in the past people are entitled to not like the guy that's fine. It just seems people get overly annoyed about stuff that hasn't even happened yet though.

I think a lot of that is posturing to get more money, if the UFC give him what he wants i reckon he'll fight early next year and then take 6 months off.

Anyone going to the Belfast card tomorrow?

I'm dragging the wife up north to see it

Fecking seery v McCall fight off, was probably my most anticipated fight

Ishihara vs. Lobov should be a good fight.

McCall really can't catch any luck, that's 4 in a row called of.

Khabib vs Ferguson gonna be crazy. They have to make that fight now then.

Aldo vs winner Pettis Holloway

Woodley vs Maia hopefully (wonderboy has medical suspension?)

Still no word on him losing the featherweight title though....?

If he's not fighting til next May I reckon they may strip him quietly of the title. As I said previously he's had 1 title a week and there's no scheduled fight for a FW title. My guess is Aldo fights the winner of Pettis vs. Holloway and White just quietly announce in a press conference it's for the undisputed title.

I think re the LW title it's the fairest way to do it. I still think Ferguson is more deserving than Khabib. They should be the title eliminator really and Conor is entitled to some time off, he's hugely active and it sets up the LW title nicely. Khabib's last 24 months consist of 2 fights. Darrel Horcher (who?) and Johnson. In that time Ferguson has fought and won 8 fights.

Some decent fights tonight. Hall vs. Moose, Artem vs. Ishihara, Gadhela is fighting on the other card and Benson Henderson vs. Chandler.

I only just realised there are two events on the same night. That's weird as hell. I know they've done it before but I still don't get it.

In fairness they're in 2 different countries. Probably to just keep fans outside the US happy. Both are decent cards and will probably sell out in Northern Ireland and Brazil. I doubt they'd do muh in America. Gets the UFC some money, keeps fighters busy and keeps fans in them countries happy.

They're not even on TV in US are they? Both on Fight Pass I think.

I don't think we'll see Conor back in the octagon until next November at MSG again. He'll face the winner of Khabib and Ferguson. UFC will strip him of the FW title too.

Was at the event. mixed bag of fights

Crowd was a mixed bag too. they were great during the Artem fight but annoying as hell at times. constantly doing the ric flair wooooo got old very fast and Mexican waves are a pet hate of mine

The Ireland card was ok. Ishihara seemed like he was drunk. Good win for Lobov. Moose needs title shot or at least eliminator fight against maybe Jacare.

Anyone see Scoggins? Lost the same add his last fight... never learns.

Time for the main card!

What a boring main event. Bader doing what he does. Almeida was great against Morales, but he's always great against the cans he fights.

Ishihara was weird in that fight. I don't think he's particularly that good anyway but he's better than that. He's gained a good following cos of his persona and he seems a nice guy, I guess the UFC will give him a few easier fights as he is good for them to have around.

Artem looked better than he usually does. I suppose he benefits from the fact Conor spends a fortune on his fight camps and Artem is about to reep the rewards of that.

I don't know why but I can't stand Artem.

I'm not a massive fan myself mate. He's basically in the UFC cos of Conor's sway.

He went out of TUF, then they randomly added some rule and allowed him back in. (although he did get a few knock outs to be fair)

He then got into the UFC and looked shite but they kept him in cos of McGregor

His technique is terrible. He's genuinely one of the worst fighters I've seen in the top level. He looked better last night but still terrible then.

I don't blame him for taking advantage of who is friend is, most would probably do it. In fairness though he did say something before his fight vs. Avila where he admitted he should of been cut from the roster.

His post fight "interview" was terrible as well. So so cringing, it was his terrible version of "Surprise surprise mother feckers."
