Tbh, best case scenario for me is Ferguson vs Khabib then winner faces Conor, but that's just me being greedy.
If he wants to defend his other belt that would work. He can defend and on the same card those two can face off for his new belt

I don't think he will defend the other one mind

Phenomenal end to a card that lived up to the hype. McGregor is just so precise in his punching. Deadly.

I don't like him one bit, but i always give him credit for what he brings in the octagon. His striking is phenomenal, counter-punching, angles, precision and power is incredible. He's making the maximum use of that long reach he's got.

Now that he improved his takedown defence he'll only get more better. Khabib or Ferguson vs. McGregor would be a good fight, but both Khabib and Ferguson get hit a lot but don't possess 1 shot KO power of McGregor so it will be hard for them.

UFC is now 100% McGregor show. Don't think he'll give up one of the belts like Dana Cnut has said. Forced history but still history.

All the doubters can feck off now. He not only beat him, he totally outclassed him in every department. Don't listen to the talk he's one of the best ever!! Al tough the aldo rematch needs to happen be way closer than this one

By the way wonder boy survival was amazing!!! Think he takes a rematch but Woodley done much better than I expected him too

Im telling you the man (?) with that much athleticism, explosiveness, shere power and world class wrestling is just frightening sight. MW division should be thankful he's 39 so he won't stick around for much longer.

Truest words ever spoken! I love the guy and wanted him to win but feared that Weidman would weather the difficult moments and outpoint him. His workrate is lacklustre and its not going to improve much but damn...his athleticism and power is just off the charts freaky.

McGregor learned a valuable lesson in Chad Mendes fight. He learned that he can't go rushing in against wrestlers but instead make them uncomfortable by stalking them and be illusive.

Watching the live post fight press conference and some reporter from the Wall Street Journal just told him that the Madison Square Garden charges US$10,000 per minute for overrun shows.

Dana nearly shat himself

First Trump and now this prick. Universe seems to be rewarding the gobshites these days.

Karolina looks too cute to be a ufc fighter, shes defintely hotter than likes of that paige, rousey, tate

Prety much the only fighter who looks just as fine in the cage as she does pre-fight. Outclassed tonight, but she's right up there with the best of the rest in that division, and her heart is beyond question after that burst in the 4th round. I don't see anyone at strawweight who can really push JJ, the horrible cnut. I hope UFC introduces a women's flyweight division just so Valentina Shevchenko can drop down and give her a beating.

The way McGregor's carried his power up to a higher weight class is fecking freaky BTW. It was mental seeing a fairly durable career lightweight just crumble the first time McGregor landed. Great, great card. One of the best events ever.

His perception of the fight is also sublime. He actually countered Wiedman's takedown attempt with that vicious knee.

Aye, that takedown he landed halfway through the 2nd round was just awesome too. His fight IQ has came on leaps and bounds. I watched out for him since his debut due to his crazy wrestling credentials, and I was gutted when Feijao KOed him in Strikeforce after Romero beat the shit out of him before that. After seeing Derek Brunson out-wrestle him for a few rounds my faith dimmed, but I'm glad I stayed on the bandwagon :D.

Nate was also much much bigger. Lets not forget those two fights were at 170.

Lets see what happens if he has to cut to 155.
Yeah but nate also normally fights at 155, he had some fights at 170 before and look how those turned out.

Looks like McGregor is not going to fight for a good while now. Baby is due and he wants something big. only way to tempt him probably is a welterweight title shot which would opens a whole new can of worms for the UFC...

Was that the supposed "left field" announcement, that he's taking some time off?
He said he had many bombshells to say but only said that. He's having a baby next year in May and won't do anything until the owners of UFC come to him and offer an equity share of the company.

Also, Tyrone Woodley let McGregor borrow the belt after the win because he left his at home and ufc didn't have a spare one

It was old yeller, at the very end
Very surprising how easily he managed to go through Alvarez. Id like to see him fight a few more people in that division. Maybe a Woodley fight but that might be a step too far but I thinm we've heard that before.

Would a GSP v McGregor fight be an option?

It would be seen option but kind of meaningless. It won't be a title fight for either and both would make big bucks whoever they fight so financially it would make sense to have them headline two separate cards...

I'd like to see McGregor vs El Cucuy or Khabib next. Even RDA or Barboza. I haven't been impressed by Eddie at all since he came to ufc, and even his win over RDA didn't change that... anyone can get caught. I think if they fight again, RDA would win.

But the 145 division has been put on hold too long now. it's time to either give Aldo his rematch or forfeit the title. I've never said that before as I thought that pushing McGregor to be the historic two weight title holder was worth pursuing but now that it's done, there's no excuses. that division needs it's title back.

Looking forward to McGregor now holding up a second division while avoiding credible challengers, fun times. Let's not get silly claiming he's one of the best ever either.

Good show, Joanna continues to look unbelievable and Thompson's heart was incredible. Gutted for Weidman.

Nice one cheers.

Yeah I saw the press conference where conor mentioned it. Amateur that they didn't have new belt ready for him in case. He'd have been pissed to miss the photo opportunity of raising em both up in the octagon.

Yea unless he is willing to defend the title as long as he holds it with at least 1 fight a year he should be considering vacating it.

I think youre half right about RDA being rocked by it but Im not sure whether theres any real threat in that division for him either. But he should also be defending that at least once a year too.

I can see him giving the 145 belt back soon enough.

He should definitely vacate the 145. Although he will not be happy if UFC take it off him

I honestly see him looking towards the 170 strap now. I don't think he has much interest in defending titles

Last night was his 4th title win....and he has never once made a title defence
