The MMA thread

I think Michael could make it interesting, but feel Rockhold would submit him at some point in the first two rounds.
I was just watching their match on Youtube yesterday and Bisping really was outclassed. In a face to face with Wiedman he even admitted that he played around with him so my excitement for this fight will stay at 0

I'm delighted for Michael to finally get his shot. It's well deserved from a 'lifetime achievement' type of perspective. With that said I don't give him much chance of winning, but he'll still be able to say he fought for a world title.

Even if all this trash talking is just scripted marketing for the event, i think Luke Rockhold got pissed when Bisping told him "you got nothing between those ears. You look good, you don't talk good"

ps. Rockhold looks like he's stoned or something...

Dont see the point. Formiga probably should be the next sacrificial lamb sent to the slaughter.

I reckon they're trying to get him to fight as many names as possible as quick as possible to get the record soon and move up to fight Cruz before it's to late.

Formiga just lost to Cejudo who MM beat so I don't see it being that bad with fighting Reis.

Yeah forgot about that... They should probably do some 2 on 1 matches and give DJ 2 W's to speed up the process.

It looks increasingly likely that Dana & Fertitas are going to sell the UFC. Also, Joe Rogan is going to leave in a couple of months.

Hopefully, they sell to the right people.

Good interview with Bisping here. I really do hope he pulls it off, always liked him even if he can be a bit of a tit.

Bisping was great there, great episode if you haven't watched it entirely.

Sonnen was hilarious.

There's a special tonight with Nate Diaz, could be very interesting...

Rockhold seems annoyed that he even has to fight Bisping, much less do pre-fight hype promotions with him.

Decent enough card this Saturday. Barao back up to Featherweight, good main event, nice women's fight and hopefully Sterling smashing the shit out of Caraway. Two really nice shows in June but July is just off the charts, potentially the greatest month of fights in UFC history, crazy how stacked that month is with shows.

July:
UFC Fight Night: Dos Anjos vs. Alvarez - Fat Country/Lewis, Duffy and more on the card
TUF 23 Finale: Jędrzejczyk vs. Gadelha - Two TUF finals, Pearson, Maynard and more on the card
UFC 200: Jones vs. Cormier 2 - Nothing more to be said, ridiculous card from top to bottom.

The above is all in the space of three days

UFC Fight Night: Ferguson vs. Chiesa - Lineker and more on the card
UFC on Fox: Holm vs. Shevchenko - Rumble/Teixeira, Barboza/Melendez, Herrig/Curran and more on the card
UFC 201: Lawler vs. Woodley - Mighty Mouse/Reis and more on the card.

Plenty of shows and so many great fights, going to be an awesome month for MMA fans, granted the injury curse doesn't continue.

Bisping isn't wrong about Rockhold, genuinely not sure I've ever seen anyone who looked as smug.

So it's a fight vs Conor or nothing.

Is Dana willing to let all those millions go to waste or will they concede and let Conor and Nate get what they want?

Both sides still on the game playing their cards... wonder who will fold first.

I'm guessing Nate wanted ridiculous money for the fight, which is holding things up ? Surely, the UFC wont pay him as much as Conor, despite the fact that he just beat him.

Maybe its all fixed and they gonna fight in MSG on November? they just gonna make a bit more drama before announcing?

Nate was looking a bit fat in my opinion, like not really thinking in fighting (just munchies).

November gives him time to go on holidays, smoke some more pot and get clean before his camp. (i think he said something he was looking for some beach..)

random tweet but made me laugh

Yep, that's a lawsuit.

Joanna's team 0-5 after last nights TUF. So interested to see this fight in July and to see how Joanna performs as it's clear as daylight Gadleha is in her head, just a question of whether it works to her advantage or not. Sometimes that can effect a fighters performance in either a negative or positive way when it comes to the fight. Honestly don't know what to expect from this fight.

It should be a really interesting fight. If Joanna gets past Claudia then there is little stopping her from going onto a Mighty Mouse-esque title reign. As much as I like Rose she has little more than a hail mary submission chance against Joanna. However I give Claudia a good chance of winning as many thought she won the first fight. On the other hand Nova Uniao has been struggling since the USADA/IV ban changes so a lot will depend on how Claudia performs.

I've not been watching TUF but it's interesting to hear that Claudia is getting into her head. Usually it's been the other way around for Joanna.

One of the tougher fights to call in a while for me simply because of how the first one went. Personally I think Joanna has improved quite a bit since that fight though and you then have to take into account this will be a five rounder and not a three round fight. I do like the division though, some good fighters coming through. Rose is a real contender like I've said plenty of times, really hope we get to see her against Joanna because I think it'd be an absolute cracker of a fight.

On TUF it's basically been Joanna talking shit towards Claudia over and over but it's not working at all (or it doesn't come across like it's working). Claudia has basically just laughed it off and it almost seems like that's getting to Joanna and with her now being 0-5 in the fights it'll be interesting to see if this all has an effect on her or simply motivates her more for the fight. Legit dislike between the two.
