The MMA thread

Think Nick tweeted something about McGregor and steroids a few days ago too.

How many steaks you need to eat to go from 155 to 170 in 2 weeks?

Thing is his walk around weight is 170+. The fact that he can drop to featherweight is weirder than him being around 180 by the time fight night rolls around.

Might just mean he doesn't have to go on a huge cut? He probably wasn't far off 170 strolling around.

cool. I want to see them guys in the best shape possible.

if the fight is half as fun as this presser, then we are in for a good night.

Nate Diaz is a funny guy. This will be a fun fight. Still would've prefered Dos Anjos though.

I really hope McGregor knocks him out first round so this ridiculous hype train continues, I mean I'm sure hes gonna get taken down at some point but its fun whilst it lasts.

i should have said afraid or concerned instead of coward. Fear in your mind, can make your bones/body weak. Its undeniable Conor was already inside his head and that's why he got injured. That's my opinion at least.
It's an opinion based on your imagination.

It'll be funny to see Mcgregor get injured before a fight one day and either pull out and face the ridicule over his hypocrisy, or have so much pride that he gets in the ring and loses because of it.

It would be funny if Conor lost to Nate Diaz of all people. Where would he go next ?

Do we think Conor will ever make a prediciton that isn't a first round knock out?

Not really. A ridiculously high percentage of his wins come that way and his fighting style is such that his odds of winning decrease the longer the fight goes on. Saying he'll finish the fight in the first two rounds will always be a safe prediction because that's probably how it will happen whenever he does win.

What nobody seemed to notice is Conor admitting he wanted to fight Nate instead of Diaz. Thats when he was in shape for a FW fight.
Tells me he's 100% confident for the win. He grew up watching these fighters. He probably scouted everyone with his BT subscription from Dublin.
Lawler said the same thing a few months ago. How he was a puzzle to solve from scratch while he had everbody sussed.

He won't because he does all this movement crap training before fights nowadays. Means he doesn't run the risk of injury as he isn't doing any contact sport.

There is no way Mcgregor doesn't retire without being universally views as one of the greatest fighters of all time. He views himself in the same bracket as Ali and wants to be recognised in the same way once he is finished.

He could possibly have done that if he had beaten RDA and then Lawlor at 200.

He has fought with injuries. He had torn ligaments in his knee for the Mendes fight and fought anyway.

To be honest, I kinda doubt that. To me he comes across as a dude who just loves to fight. I could see him retire once he has reached his peak and is back on the slope down, but I expect him to keep fighting as long as he can and there are interesting fights to be had.

It depends on where he makes the most money I think.

Whatever you think about Conor, he deserves credit for taking a fight at 170, not many current fighters would take that on such a short-term.

Feel bit sorry for him, he has a plan laid out, but his opponents dropping out sets him back. I would imagine the plan was fight Lawlor at 200 and hold three belts.

Yeah. Something forgotten by Mendes and bum chin when they always go on about his preparation.

Not saying that he was lying but was any proof of this ever presented?

Dana confirmed that he had a fecked knee and got a stem cell injection leading up to the fight. The rumours had been going around before the fight too, with even randomers like Brendan Schaub saying the word was his knee was seriously damaged.

Not sure if anyone ever confirmed the extent of the injury tough.
