The MMA thread

Trump is a big MMA fan and he's good friends with Dana White...just out enjoying a night at the fights

Booooo, he's such a sicknote.

First 3 fights in the UFC in 3 months
The next 4 in 4 YEARS

Dana wouldn't say shit until he has a confirmed replacement.

He promised the Saudis a PPV worthy main event so he must be bricking it if true.
I heard Kevin Holland's phone has been ringing all day and that crazy fecker would take the fight

 No doubt he was in the conversation.

Another russian prospect (only lost to Khamzat back in the regional scene), Aliskerov, is the official replacement, confirmed.

Whittaker a badass for taking the fight.
"Anyone, anywhere, anytime"

Conor McGregor will no longer fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29 in Las Vegas, UFC CEO Dana White said Thursday night.

McGregor (22-6) was scheduled to headline the event but has withdrawn because of injury. It's the first time in McGregor's storied UFC career he's pulled out of a fight for any reason.

The new main event is a light heavyweight title fight between Alex Pereira and Jiri Procházka, according to White.

White also announced two more new fights to the card: Diego Lopes will face Brian Ortega in the co-main event; and with Jamahal Hill, who was slated to fight in the co-main event, also out due to injury, his former opponent, Carlos Ulberg, now will face Anthony Smith in a light heavyweight bout.

Official now.

Shame.

A bit of a relief in a way given that Conor is well past his prime and Chandler is only doing it for a pre-retirement payday.

Pereira v Jiri 2 is much more interesting imo. As are Ortega v Diego Lopes, and Ian Garry v MVP.

I'd prefer they both ( Alex and Jiri) have full camps but yeah it'll be entertaining no doubt. Clear to see the ufc formula though, if the main event is a good seller then it's okay to have a shit undercard but if the main event is kinda lacking then stack the main card at least.

Someone identify the appropriate smiley; i would've gone with the old crazy eyes one for this piece of madness.

There was always a good chance this wouldn't happen way back when they first announced it alongside TUF.

Chandler is a fool. For a man that says he wants to be UFC champion before he calls it a day, lasting 1.5 years of your career at age of (then 36) sure isn't smart... Dustin proved that you just need to be available and in the mix and you might get a title shot depending on timing. Chandler likely would have fought 3 times by now.

Pereira-Jiri 2 is interesting though you'd still have to lean towards the same type of result. Obviously nowhere near the level of a McGregor return and I bet the UFC are forking out a lot of refunds right now (or knowing Dana, maybe he just told those people asking to go feck themselves). Ortega-Lopes is a good fight but again I don't know if it's co-main at International Fight Week level...

Saw the news that Khamzat isn't injured but ill AGAIN. This dude should honestly just retire, for whatever reason he cannot make it through a fight camp without being hospitalised through some sort of new ailment.

Bobby Knuckles is a G for accepting Aliskerov which is a super risky fight.

We are live!!

As usual, crap card on paper but these tend to deliver.

Funny thing is this could be somewhat home territory for Dricus... I believe there's a decent Saffa contingent in Perth and Izzy isn't particularly cared for there. Would be surprised to see him get the bigger cheers at the presser.

Strickland got a better pop than Izzy last time so I think you're right. It'll actually be kinda enemy territory for Izzy.
