The MMA thread

Just isn’t the same anymore. Money definitely has got to his head as he just doesn’t have that same sort of enthusiasm and will to win like he used to. His trash talking just doesn’t psychologically get into his opponents head anymore like it used to either.

I’ll be surprised if this fight goes the distance.

McGregor then f**** off to WWE or start boxing some YouTuber.

Well its been 10 years to be fair. Hard to carry the promotion of a fight on your own for so many of those years. Saying that this will still be a ridculous selling ppv so it must still work.

Connor is finished. I think it was Khabib who mentioned that if you survive the first two rounds with him, you've won the fight. Fully expect Porier to win and to then beat Charles too. Think now that Khabib is gone Porier is the best fighter in the division.

Also keep an eye out for Islam though, by most accounts, he's just as good, if not even better than Khabib.

Then Dustin is not the best fighter in the division. He is the best out of the marketable ones though.

ps. Fighters looking silly as feck wearing that crypto crap for the weight ins.

Ye, Islam still hasn't really established himself in the division yet though. From what I've seen, he's could be as skilled as Khabib, but whether or not he has the same mentality is yet to be seen, which is why I'd still consider DP the best fighter in the division, at least for now.

We are also yet to see Islam fight any top guys - everyone is supposedly refusing to fight him if DC is to be believed. Dominating Drew Dober is one thing, doing it against the top guys is another.

Might just be me, but it just doesn't work anymore.
Certainly not as entertaining, sounds so forced now. And I think DP sees through it.
I don’t know if you need to be from Dublin to notice how different he sounds, but he really does. My brother in law said to me today it sounds like he’s doing an impression of himself, I can’t think of a better way to put it.

Yeah, heard the similar comment already from someone before Khabib fight and that is exactly how he sounds now. Like a parody of himself.

Conor this, Conor that….I hope he gets the feck beaten out of him then subbed by atomic wedgie. He’s actually detestable now and I’ve zero idea how he still has any fans. I generally disagree with the modern world attitude where any indiscretion results in someone being cancelled….but Conor is a rare example of where it should happen

Am I the only one that thinks Conor’s gonna win this? No particular reason, I just have a feeling.
Connor can win no doubt about it. I hope he won't but it's not like he's some bum as some people have put it. It all depends on if he can make the right adjustments, which he did the last time he had a rematch.

He has a change of winning if he manages to connect in the first or second round. If it gets to round 3 or beyond and Dustin has an advantage given Conor’s history of gassing later in fights.

That chain is funny tbf. On the embedded seems Conor got into it with RDA backstage as well.

As long as he can avoid the leg kicks, Conor has as good a chance to win as Dustin, imo.

Big problem is his karate stance is tiring and he won't adopt it cos he's wary of his tank vs an output machine like Dustin. His boxing is flat and square and makes him a lot more hittable, but he's got just as much of a likelihood of winning if they're both throwing heavy.

Conor's biggest downfall in the octagon was going from elusive to believing in his own hype about the power in his left. He went from letting k.o's come naturally and organically in a rhythmic flow, to trying to actively take heads and getting hit, a lot, in the process. He may well take a good shot, but he gets drained even quicker that way, so ultimately, it's a really poor strategy and it costs him.

The art of hit and not being hit was Conor's natural forte, and to abandon it lessened him as a fighter. I don't think, even if he wanted to, that he can fight like he used to anymore.

I think his biggest downfall was a lot of whiskey and cocaine. Like am watching Maradona around and post 1990.

But yeah, he has solid chances especially in the first 2 rounds. The longer it goes, Dustin chances will grow.
