The Manchester Title Race

Idealy I think we need to be at least 4 points clear when it comes to our match against them. That way, not only do we have a cushion if we were to lose, they know they'll have to win. So at some point they're gonna have to attack us and go for it. I think that'll play right into our hands, as they'll leave themselves exposed at the back.

lol :d

we must win out and make it definitive.

We've already won 4 straight,, there are 10 league games left...has any team ever won their last 14 games in the league?

I don't doubt both us and City will drop points before the end of the season, but I'd be as happy as anyone if we didn't!

nah...brilliant day for us. I really never expected City to lose to Swansea, but that tells the whole story really. Still around a quarter of the season to go and as Fergie said...plenty of points to drop unexpectedly. However...great monday for the papers :-). It ain't over till the fat Tevez sings....

 Wtf?! Only 1-0 down with 7 minutes to go, you'd think City lost the league today going by his reaction.

To be honest, you really can't blame him. Before the game, I believe they were quite confident the three points would be in the bag against Swansea. The result today might well be the title decider, because once we are on top, it's our MO to not easily let them get back on. We are experienced and all that. ;);)

It's a huge boost to our players and this crying fan knows it. :)

hahaha...

Quote: Reds Top, Look Bright. City Lose, Play Sh... unquote

Twists and turns! Manchester United returned to the top of the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over West Brom while Manchester City lost 1-0 to Swansea and are now a point behind the champions. United looked bright, easily dispatching the Baggies with Wayne Rooney scoring both goals. City, meanwhile, struggled against the Swans as Joe Hart saved a penalty and Micah Richards had a goal disallowed. It's game on at the top...

Probably not the most suitable thread to post this, but i heard City taking off Silva when they were chasing the equaliser. Was he injured or just a tactical decision?

United are in a good spot now. City's away form is pretty average and they have Stoke and Arsenal coming up. Both teams will drop a few more points but you have to fancy United chances.

Top of the league, 10 games to go. We're in a great position as City have a few tough fixtures still to come. Of course we could drop points too, but our fixture list looks a bit more favourable than theirs.

The momentum is with us I believe, and I really fancy our chances.

Hmmm...so 10 fixtures remaining and City still have Arsenal, Cheslea, Man United, Newcastle...and Norwich away. I like our chances.

And Stoke away which will be even harder than Chelsea, Norwich and Newcastle imo.

I think it was tactical, they brought on Dzeko and Silva seemed fine. Thought it was strange myself.

I'd say even Sunderland and WBA at home is not a given for them.

Dont be daft of course they are, they're 100% at home this season. That's why we have to take advantage when they drop points away

The pressure is rising and there are no easy games left for either of us, however on paper id much prefer our fixtures list than city's.
We are in great position now to pile the pressure on city. To be honest id take getting eliminated from the Europa if winning at wolves was guaranteed. Thats more important.

How sweet it would be to win this title but there is a long long way to go and plenty of twists and turns.

agree 100% mate.

I wont be surprised if Fergie starts out Cleverley, Pogba and Anderson at Bilbao.

Scholes should not travel...simple.

agree Re scholes. Leave him at home.

Anderson is a long way down the pecking order and this is a perfect game to bring him back to action.Im not a fan of anderson and dont see him as crucial to the run in in the league but he is useful to have as a back up so play him and get him some game time.

Saying that I'd like to win the Europa and would like to see a strong team but Fergie has eyes on the title and I cant see him playing the whole cavalry out there in spain. Fingers crossed but the title is more important.

United will be in a very strong position in the transfer market should they be champions again this summer. (providing we have money to spend, which I believe we do)

They crack when they lose one or two key players - we've spent the entire season with a minimum of 4-5 key players out at any one time

we need to win by two clear goals there. big ask...and Wolves away is not a given by a long way.

until we are 4 points above City when we meet them, we need to give priority to the Premiership matches.

We have to be favourites right now but I just hope they won't catch up anytime soon and we go to CoMS with at least 4-point cushion. They'll win their next two games after our clash there so it's essential they don't go above us there and I wouldn't like all the pressure of having to get a result there. Also, a win in that case would make us champions which would be sweet as candy.

so true...and that is why it is amazing where we are.

so much credit needs to be given to the manager.

maybe a bit of a blessing in disguise being knocked out of the carling and fa cups too. fewer games to play, less stress on the remaining squad. now we're healthy at just the right time.

Newcastle(A) is not at all an easy fixture.

They've been mediocre at best throughout 2012 while we've been reeling them in with results against Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea. I don't see things getting any better for them now they've gone past their run of home games against relegation fodder and realised they're not Barcelona.

The idea of us being able to call ourselves the best team in the league would have been laughable going into Christmas. Now we are the best team in the league and on top by merit with an easier run-in. Either they're fecked or we've got a lot of moaning at our players ahead of us.

It's not but neither is Sunderland away and if they were above us the motivation would be with them, as I say there wouldn't be much hope in it for us if they went above us at CoMS.

With the money and squad they have anything but 114 points is a failure tbf

Whereas we have performed far above what is expected of a team with the constraints we've experienced

Don't be ridiculous. They have the best squad in the league and should be winning it, but no side should have to be winning every single game.

I can't believe we're just 13 points (and 10 goals) away from last season's finishing total. For the so-called "weakest United team in years" we've been pretty frickin' impressive.

tbf last season was when the weakest United team in years line was churned out week after week, I haven't heard that labelled at us this season despite going out of Europe when we did

City's squad is massively overrated. Only their attack is impressive in terms of quality and depth.
