Gaming The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Am i the only one who sucks at rotating items properly using the ultra hand ability? I imagine i will get a lot of answers like "yes, you have fat fingers".

No I know what you mean. If you're talking about keeping it from being at a weird angle when rotating I discovered it helps if you approach it straight on before picking it up.

I dont expect them to copy everything. Just seemed weird that it had so little impact.
There was that Immortals: Fenyx Rising game that was basically a direct copy, only much worse. I guess devs probably thought what's the point if we can't do it as well

Yeah I find it helps to rotate it back to face you first and then you can rotate again from there.

It takes about 15-20 seconds to spin them correctly sometimes but once they are fully vertical or horizontal it’s easy to go from there.

Not so in mine, just whenever I'm half way up anything I'm trying to climb to the top of. Easily my least favourite things about these two games!
There are some good options to address that. They may have been there in BOTW already but I don’t remember them.

There’s a reset option with ZL when rotating with ultra hand that basically gives you a 90 degree angle. Not always the angle you want but it’s easy to rotate to it from there.

Thank me later.

I am sooooo bad at rotating correctly. That's the only thing stopping me from building a glorious spaceship to fly to me Samus in Metroid.

But, seriously. I am at work watching rupee farm videos cause I am broke. Last night I finally found my amiibo and got the gourmet meat drops from it. Meat skewers for 300 a pop everyday!

I really wasn't sold on ultrahand in the previews but its been good so far. Ascend is everything. Now that I have been spoiled watching rupee farms I am going to get the autobuild ability as soon as i get home

The thing with Ascend that annoys me is why it leaves you half submerged in the floor and asks you to press A if you want to not be half submerged. In what circumstance would that ever be useful, and why can't it skip that and just put you directly on the surface?

I kind of like that. One of the places I was trying to reach last night I would just pop out, nope not there, yet go back down and try to find the angle/room I wanted.

I ascended into a freezing river that would have killed me earlier today. I've used it a couple of times

Are there a lot of sky islands other than the starting area?

Now I’ve accidentally attached the ball to the balloon. How the feck do I reverse that

I’ve also arrived in the middle of a shit load of enemies too so was pretty glad to duck back out
So they don't just start attacking your top half while your legs are planted in the ground? That was my main worry about that whole system.

I managed to get both balls up. Second one felt quite clever from me and what’s in the chest? One fecking opal.

Always fecking Opal. I did that shrine just now funnily enough.

Weapon breaking still annoys me tbh, but I haven’t really been using fuse yet aside from arrows.

Oh wow I’ve just discovered why I’ve got so much brightbloom. The scale of this is overwhelming.

Exactly me last night down there for the first time. I was like well hell no wonder I had 200. I just started throwing them when I ran out of arrows. About to go back down there for autobuild

Yeah right?
Is this maybe the biggest world in a singleplayer game ever?

There's so much to explore and I love it.

When I played BOTW in 2017 I thought there was no way they could top this, but they did.

I came across a bridge that was out in a frozen area, I won't spoil and say where but I was determined that by hook or by crook I was crossing that bridge. Spent several hours, crafting axes to chop wood, not to mention cooking to make meals that would give me resistance to the cold, building bridges that became unweildy due to their size and plummeted into the river below. Climbed to the nearest highest point and attempted to hand glide over, none of which worked, tried octoballoons on boxes and all manner of wacky devices, that Wile E Coyote would have been proud of. In the end they all failed and I found an alternate route across by thinking laterally. But man what a blast I had throughout. I can not think of another game that comes close to that level of freedom. It's genius.

PS. Wished I'd done some Solius Screenshot esque vids of my epic fails :D

Is there anything down in the depths?

Yes mostly from my experience more monsters and a ton of materials/resources that you don't often see at ground level. It's absolutely huge from what I can gather though.

Just found some armour that lets me climb in the rain

Can’t actually have it yet though.

When there is a chest next to a shrine name does that mean you got the chest or still haven’t got it?

Can you be mindful of spoilers please.

You've mentioned you've looked up guides and exploits, but I didn't want to find out where to get certain abilities by coming in this thread.

I did that shrine last night.

I made the world's slowest ascending hot air balloon ever, but if it works it works.

Yep. No wrong way to do it but I pretty much always finish a shrine thinking “huh, there must’ve been a better way to do that”.

Wait until you do a grinding/rails shrine. By far the most fun shrine I've done so far.
