Gaming The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

I felt BotW had a lot of potential but had s few things that held it back for me. Especially the somewhat empty world.
This feels like the game BotW promised.
Didn't enjoy BotW, but have to say I have fallen in love with this.

It took me way too long to figure out how to use the glider.

Ascend was fun until I realised there was no Descend.

Just tried to make some Mad Max shit. And yeah…

They won’t. They’ve nailed the open world, sales are through the roof and reviewers love it. There is no reason for them to go back to previous formula.

They can’t just keep churning through the open world games though. There’s definitely still a place for the classic formula, and the easy option is remakes and remasters. They will still fly off the shelves.

Anyway, in regards to TofK, I’ve switched it off because I’ve got stuck up the mountain with the third shrine and literally have nothing left for cold resistance. Can’t get back fecking down atm.

Korok seeds at least have a real purpose in this game. You can use them to expand your inventory for melee weapons, bows and shields when you meet the correct person.

They did in BOTW also?

Then you also should probably turn Zelda unless you've changed your mind about it :)

Never said it wasnt good just not what i hoped it would be. Anyway nevermind all that

Some of the things people are doing in this game over on Reddit is hilarious. It’s been one day ffs

The ways to clear puzzles are amazing. We’re supposed to use the hook to connect a platform for us to cross the air track, but so far i’ve tried literally walking to cross the track and shield surfing

That's the only thing they were used for in BotW?

This game is so, so good.

I already loved the world and exploration, but now with the additional sky Islands and
caves and the underground
the size of this game is just incredible.

I also really like the new abilities.

There are more Quests and npcs, the world feels more alive, the fusing neglects the breakable weapons...like everything I didnt love about BOTW is improved now.

After only 10 hours played I can already tell this is (at least) my game of the year.

I just got to Hyrule. The new powers are kinda sweet. A bit frustrating at times when things take a while to lean the way you want them to but super rewarding when it works.

Can I get this without playing Botw? It’s the only Zelda I haven’t played but it’s not going down in price! Feel I may as well spend the money in the new one now.

Yeah you can and also should in my opinion. Playing both back to back could burn you out on the world and formula I think.

Theres also an official ~6 Minute story recap video of BOTW on Youtube.

I would love to see some kind of "Shrine developer walkthrough" to see the solution the developers had in mind.

I was able so solve all the ~20 shrines I visited so far but sometimes with solutions where I felt like abusing the physic engine instead of going for the intended way.

But thats also part of what makes this game so great.

My TikTok is full of people crucifying koroks and blasting them into the distance with rockets and I’m loving it

I’m playing BOTW for the first time on a machine that is just about running it fine. I’m guessing there’s no chance of this running well? (Must be a decent upgrade graphically?)

Not like the switch is a strong system but I haven't found it to be any worse running than BotW tbh. Maybe I just don't notice it, but only a 16gb game too

It runs well, solid 30 FPS with occasional drops. Basically the same as BOTW.
