Gaming The Legend of Zelda | Earthquake: "It's actually ridiculously good, and keeps getting better." ★★★★★

Just came across my first motion controlled shrine.

Fecking awful. What were they thinking.

You should try it on the Wii U. I almost threw the f*cking thing out the window.

I can only imagine. It's just so unnecessary. Ive loved the shrines up until this point. They're clever and inventive and really reward imagination. This was neither of those things. I was laughing at one point out of frustration at how absurd it was; titling my Switch every which way

I hope to god there isn't many more.

I remember about 3 I think. I haven't done them all yet though so there may be more.

They are way easier if you take the joycons out and just hold the right one.

There aren't a huge amount of the painful ones though, thankfully.

Just beat ganon. Think I have around 60 or so hours played in total. Personally thought the ending was kind of lacking and the story could have been much more developed but apart from that this is a brillant game. I don’t think I can name a single game that uses the enviornment so much like BOTW and it’s is a huge reason as to why I loved the game.

With that being said, I don’t get the GOAT comments I keep reading online. I’m not trying to take anything away from the game and don’t want to come off sounding too critical but the game does have its downfalls that I hope the developers tackle in the sequel, the main ones being story and difficulty. It’s true that I got lost in the world they built, but at no point during the game did I feel like I cared about the story at all (keep in mind this is my first zelda game so others might have a more vested interest in the story than I do). It basically boils down to: gain control of those divine beats and kill ganon. The second point I’d like to tackle is difficulty. Once you find out how to kill lynels, every other enemy in the game becomes really easy, guardians included.

I’ll still give the game a 9/10 and only horizon comes close to it as the best game released in 2017.

Just a shame that they're in there at all really. I really like the shrines as well. In fact, i would love to just go from shrine to shrine. Best part of the game for me.

Why I'm trying to 100% When I finish I will shed a tear. Also anyone else notice thats there's zero mention of the Tri Force in the game? ( If there is towards the end of the story don't say anything).

Only hint of the triforce is on the plateau but even that is obscure and easy to miss. The 4 monks in each of the shrines gesture a piece of the triforce with their hands:

I found this out with about the third or fourth one i did. Waaaaaaay easier just using the right joycon out on it's own.

Beat Ganon but now whenever I continue game it loads the save just before the boss battle in the sanctum. I thought it was supposed to leave outside the castle when you beat him?

I think this game is more about mechanics and exploring than story. Stories in Zelda games have always been pretty basic, that's why you can jump into them at any point and not feel lost.

At this point I doubt whether I will be able to finish it. Whenever I come back with strong intention to progress with the story I find myself wandering about for hours instead.

Yeah, it's always been more about tricky puzzles than powerful enemies. The lynel's must be among the hardest common enemies in the entire series, at least in the 3D era.

I do hope they pull a Majora's Mask on us an make a more challenging sequel.

Nah that’s where they leave you in this one.

Man this game is huge. I've just got the paraglide but can't help but think I've missed out on loads so far.

Still, trying not to worry too much and just enjoy the game for what it is.

By the way, do weapons break throughout the entire game or do you find ways to repair them?

Nope, they break from start to finish. I think there might be a few that you can repair.

There are some you can repair/replace, but not many. Don't worry about it though, you soon start finding loads and learn to not bother holding back the more powerful ones. Plus you eventually upgrade your inventory space so you can hold loads anyway.

The guy who upgrades your inventory slots disappears all the time doesn't he?

I upgraded my weapon slots twice then he fecked off somewhere else!

Not sure where to find him now.

I ended up completing the Hyrule Compendium anyway, just followed the hero's path and visited the locations I hadn't been to yet and took photos of everything along the way, the rest of the photos I bought by selling the jewels I had gathered.

He's at some of the stables on the way to Korok Forest until he finally makes his way to the forest after you've upgraded the slots to a certain point, then you can find him near the shrine next to the Deku Tree.

Right, ok. That can be my mission later: finding the forest. 'Cause I'm pretty sure I've never been in it. Just aimlessly wandering around at the moment.

Thanks.

All I will say is, look for the flames and their direction.

Tried the muwo jeem shrine and the chaas keta shrine.

My weapons barely made a dent and I got my Shields smashed and my arse kicked.
Is there a certain weapon/armour combo you need before trying these?
