Gaming The Legend of Zelda | Earthquake: "It's actually ridiculously good, and keeps getting better." ★★★★★

Just started Zelda as well. Agreed, the 4th shrine in the cold territory was a nuisance. On a hunch, decided if lighting a torch would keep me warm (it did) and ended up using it to traverse the snowy terrain (avoiding enemies since most actions, even sprinting, extinguished the fire).

There's many ways to do everything in this game :)

BTW cooking meals with the hot peppers works, plus you kind find a top to wear that stops the cold in two places on the Plateau.

Yep, the attention to detail is also impressive. There’s something about Nintendo games that makes you keep playing.

Thanks will try those tips out.

The little touches never stop coming until the very end. Even then, you'll be amazed by how much you missed.

BTW, you newbies really need to try shield surfing. It seems like a fun but throwaway little addition that is very easily missed (my brother finished the game on 100+ hours and didn't even know it existed), but in early game it seriously helps you get around.

My god, this game. I've been playing with my daughter and I'm truly, truly blown away. I honestly believe this is the greatest game ever released.

Blimey you make me want to go out and buy a Switch right now.
I guess it depends if you're into Zelda or not. I've had more enjoyment out of the switch in the last week than I have out of my Xbox. If like me you consider Ocarina of time a true great then all I can say is breath of the wild brings back that feeling and adds more to it. We've been playing away at it for ages and it just keeps getting bigger and better.

Haha I actually just went out and got it. Just a side question, I cannot connect to the eshop, is it down for you? is there something I have to do?

It was my first Zelda game ever, after I finished it I went and bought Ocarina of Time 3D, never realized how fun the zelda series really is.

I discovered Lurelin Village yesterday, the town music is so soothing, kinda wanna spend the rest of my days there fishing or whatever.

I felt the same way. I wish I could move there.

I've put so much time into this this past week. I'm going to get serious withdrawals when I go back to work next week.

Just looked up Lurelin Village and I don't think I've been there yet. Not sure how that's possible but there you go
I randomly discovered it when I noticed the shrine whilst gliding past. Jumped into the palm trees next to it and bam I was suddenly in a village.

Luckily, I've had a couple of really slow night shifts in the last week so I've been bringing the switch to work and basically gotten paid for mostly playing Zelda all night.

"Played for 105 hours or more" apparently.

And would you say that you've sampled basically everything that the game has to offer in that time? I've only played it for about 3 hours as I've only had it for a couple of days, so it's hard to gauge just how big it is at the moment.

Seems like a very impressively rich and detailed game though.

I'll have to go exploring later on and see if I can find it!

Nope, apparently I've missed a whole village despite being all over the place, so I reckon there's a lot more for me to do yet :D

Jesus, 105 hours? I haven't started playing it yet because I've a crazy busy month ahead and feel like it'll completely feck with all of that

I've just checked both the EU and US stores for you, they are working fine for me. Have you created a Nintendo account and linked it to your Switch profile?

Thanks for checking. For some reason i had to restart my router and now its working. There are some great retro games available in the store!

Now this is what I like to hear!

I highly recommend Shovel Knight to get you started ;)

Finally got my hands on a cold resistance armor. I keep getting lost in cold areas without any elixirs, on my way to Hateno Village for the first time I ended up crossing Mount Lanayru and beating the dragon in the progress, all whilst eating inventory for hearts. When I was exploring the north west looking for a village I ended up in a dead end after a long ride around the Hebra mountains.

Sorry bud no idea. Do you have a nintendo account?

No worries mate I got it sorted. I've been playing Zelda since i got up and i am absolutely hooked! I love how everything isn't force feed like most other games. I took me like ages to figure how to actually cook haha.

That's the beauty of it. There is a side quest you get in the first town to learn to cook too, and some shrines act a tutorials, but you are pretty much free to do whatever you want from the moment you get off the Plateau.

For those new to the Zelda games talk multuple times to everyone you see, a lot of the quests aren't given until you explore all they have to say.

Well, thanks to you guys I have now decided to buy a Nintendo Switch just so I could play this game. It better be worth it.

But why only for Zelda? there are so many other good games, and potentially many to come still.

I ended up getting a few more games: Mario Kart Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey and Kingdom Battle, mainly so it didn't feel like I was wasting my money

They've all got good reviews from what I've seen, so it should keep me going for a while. But yeah, I just really wanna try out BotW.

Buying a Switch for Zelda only is a huge mistake. It’s a great game but nowhere close to a masterpiece imo.
