Gaming The Legend of Zelda | Earthquake: "It's actually ridiculously good, and keeps getting better." ★★★★★

I discovered the Coliseum Ruins earlier. That felt really Dark Souls-y with the Lynel fecker walking around inside.

I love the music that plays in the gliding challenges

These alligator like feckers who run so fast are a bit tiresome. I don't think I can defeat them with my current weapons and shooting a bow will never work as they are too fast.

From Switch thread: how do I make potions and find recipes? How do I upgrade my character other than through shrines? How the feck do I beat this game.

For a start, if you are having major problems, then you can always leave them alone and go back when you have better weapons. Remember this isn't a standard game, they have pretty good a.i and will use that speed to dodge arrows and things, however they can be hit as you get better. There's also soooo many ways to fight enemies without weapons, but have you tried (for example) jumping off something nearby (like a tree or cliff) and using slow-mo for head shots? Or using stasis or magnet to your advantage?

Also remember you can sneak and pretty much one shot most enemies from behind.

Cooking and potions are easy, and that's another way to can make yourself stronger. Have you even used a cooking pot yet? If so, just chuck a few edible items in together (most basic reciepes are things like 1-5 apples), but you can pretty much mix anything together to give you health and status boosts. Only one status effect at a time can be used, so don't try to mix those. For example, if you have any radishes, you can cook them and get a feck ton of extra health hearts that stick around until you lose them in combat. I think I've mixed one that gave me 12 extra hearts. You can find recipes dotted around too, but it's not necessary. There's also a very early side quest which teaches you to do this, have you been following the main game much? You really should early on, there's no real tutorial but you learn by doing.

Potions are pretty much the same, experiment. Look for stuff that replenishes stamina, mix with a coupld of monster parts, and you'll find you can climb anywhere or fly much further.

Also there's all sorts of armour sets and you constantly find new weapons, and that's how you grow in the game, even more so than just new hearts and stamina.

Yeah that's what I have been doing all the time, cooking. I just thought there was some clever other idea about potions but if that's it, it's good.

As for fighting, no I have not tried slow motion shooting. I am not even sure my character can do this yet. Sometimes I will just avoid a fight because there is not really that much benefit to it, your character does not get any boost from killing enemies and you only needlessly waste your weapon. Sometimes the loot can be good but that's usually not worth the hassle.

I am already at a point where I can retrieve Forgotten Memories (so tough to find them!) and go seek the four divine Beasts. I think it's past the point of tutorials, it's just I am playing this in bursts for the last month and have done so much shit outside of any missions like roaming around and looking for towers and shrines that I have already forgotten a lot.

I remember yesterday I had about 10 attempts at trying to clear a Bokoblin camp with three grey Bokoblins that were on shotting me with 6 hearts. There were also a couple of blues and brown archers in towers surrounding the skull.

Once I finally managed it I was excited to see what amazing treasure I was going to get only to find something shitty like a Traveler's Sword.

The game really fecks with you sometimes.

Yeah it's pretty overwhelming the amount there is to see, do and remember. There's loads of potion/food recipes though, you probably are only at the low end at the moment depending on where you've been.

As for the slo mo, you can do it. Just glide from somewhere and then draw your bow out, it lasts for as long as you have stamina.

Weapons are literally everywhere, one tip I'd give is always use one then throw is at it breaks, don't switch out when they flash or you'll end up with loads of broken ones. And there's plenty of cool weapons in camps, don't assume just because one had barely anything the next will.

As for inventory slots, you should have upgraded by now if you are in the main quest, have you seen the first stable by duelling peaks and headed to the first village yet? There's a weird green thing on the way who gets you to find his maracas and then will let you add more weapon/armour/shield slots depending on how many of the seed things you've found.

And yeah, it's not really a game you can go ages without playing at first, but once you get it into your head how it all works, it because much more pick up and play mate. Now, I'm going back to the rather brilliant Lego City :)

Just went back to The Grand Plateau and was absolutely horrified by what I saw in part of hyrule

Theres a giant flying fecking dragon thing!!!

Just beat Gannon

Definitely one of the best games I've ever played

Because you're a fool, a fool!

I'm also poor because I spent all my money on food and Pokemon cards ffs.

Next month maybe.

I don't really have any chance of beating waterblight Ganon with 4 hearts, do I?

I just realized how fecking crap my character is despite having played this for about 15 hours at least. I need to unlock areas, get some weapon, increase inventory and then maybe I can actually get down to the main storyline missions.

I'm pretty sure I did it with 4, maybe 5. Get up close to him, get a few hits, then run away when he starts to slam his staff to the floor. If you run early enough you will get out of the AOE in time. If not you will only lose about two hearts so eat some shit then rinse and repeat.

For the second stage, get Crynosis ready to break the ice and bring as many arrows as you muster and shoot the shit out of him. He has one big attack which you have to run from but other than that it'll be fine.

Bring some meals and a couple of fairies from the Kakariko fountain in case you feck up and you will be fine with four hearts.

I did it with 3. As Woodzy says, prepare and you'll be fine.

As I said before, this isn't really a 'levelling' game, it's more about survival and preparing for the tough fights. Worst case, smash some rocks and buy/upgrade decent armour to really help, though I tend to go situational there (climbing gear when travelling, zora obviously when swimming and mostly for everything else I have the stealth/standard gear).

I tried maybe 60 times and decided to go back and level up a little. I had spirit orbs to exchange for hearts so I have 5 already and I have a lot of ingredients so I will cook some nice potions. Also, I will stack up on weapons as I had terrible. I completed all terminals anyway so it's just a matter of going back at one point and beating the fecker, I may as well do this much later. At this point I want to travel the world, get some good weapon and maybe buy some good armor, complete more shrines and come back in several hours.

Blimey

You do get something cool and very useful for beating him though, so try again sooner rather than later :)

Im on about 140 at this poiint.
You cant go 5 feet without running into one of them tbh

I remember I picked up about 10 in about an hour and thought I was somehow ace at finding them. Then I discovered the total number and died a little inside.

How many Koroks has everybody got? I see that there's

900, which is insane and I don't think I'll ever get close to that
Zero. Yes, I have not found a single one yet. I am shit.

Bloody hell @Sarni, I'm getting worried that you are the worst at playing this game. Korok's are literally everywhere. If a small rock looks suspiciously placed then pick it up and your pretty likely to find a korok.

This is game is just something else. I can't stop playing (and probably never will, considering I've only done about 30 shrines and one divine beast).

I'm currently at 60 hours and still around 4-5 zones yet to discover, 2 divine beast dungeons left and ofc the last boss...best game I've played in along time this. Iv not played a game that just makes you want to explore, I'll open the game and spend hours just doing random shit, yesterday I spent about 7 hours farming and upgrading gear sets and I loved it. I then spent an hour cutting trees down because why not :p

Yeah I'm the worst

I have lots of amber and stuff but have not found a korok yet.

Such a great game. The more I play it, the more I love it.
