When does the storm surge normally hit? I ask because if it’s making landfall at 7am, isn’t that usually around high tide? And wouldn’t that make it worse?

Fecking hell. Is Milton worse than previous hurricanes to hit the US?

Last time a hurricane went from west to east was 1888 apparently. In addition to that it's 4th most powerful storm ever recorded in the Atlantic.

Yeah if it's already a high tide it's gonna be much, much worse. It's a literal recipe for disaster.

Tides generally shift forwards 50mins per day so there’s no “usual” time for high tide.

The tornados on the west coast of Florida look terrifying.
Milton looks like it be closer to Tampa, easterly turn isnt happening yet.

Guy on the news I had on said he spoke to someone who believes the hurricane is being geo engineered by the political opposition or some shit...

How could anyone possibly believe that.

I unfortunately have to use a few social media platforms at work. The stuff I’ve seen on there about the hurricane these past few days beggars belief. It should make me angry, but instead makes me sad. However this storm pans out, I hope lives aren’t lost due to disinformation.

Wife’s aunt and her husband are staying in Tampa. Decided to get and stay drunk. She called my MIL to say goodbye this afternoon. Her husband is a massive Trumper and did not want to leave and she won’t press him on it. Insanity

Hope as many people as possible got out asap. I was just in Sarasota last month and have friends in Tampa and Naples.

A beautiful place but with how the climate is, and will be in the future, im not sure how people can cope living there when they know that inevitabile their homes will be wiped out.

and chance emergency services could drag her out and leave him to his fate?

Why? They chose to stay. Her sisters and children called and that did not change their minds. My in laws are a 6 hour drive away in GA and offered to host them and give them all the booze they wanted. Nope. I hope they make it but I don’t want any emergency responders to take a risk to intervene.

Sorry to hear it's that bad.
