The general attitude of our players

Another thing that just crossed my mind. What would these players make of someone like Ten Haag if we hired him? He’s a promising coach with loads of potential, but he’s not coached in the big leagues (no disrespect to Ajax). He’s definitely no Sir AF or Pep in terms of pedigree. Would the players respond to him, or would we see the same moaning and complaining starting after a few weeks?
SAF didn't have the pedigree when he came to United, either. However, times have changed and players nowadays seem to need to be mollycoddled, they're just so soft.

I am worried there is a task similar to Sir Alex stamping out the drinking culture when he joined but this one is weak mentality, poor workrate etc. This will not be a quick fix, we need to show a bunch of players the door and bring in 5-6 that have the right attitude.

Yeah I think you are absolutely smack on, far too many of these players don't fear for their positions and so aren't bothered about putting in the necessary effort

this is a battle Rangnick will need to win if we are to move forward.

We need to take some comments with a pinch of salt but RR seemed bemused by the performances against Norwich/Newcastle

we need to clean house and any player who isn't willing to be humble and work needs to go

interesting to see who makes the starting lineup tonight

Problem exists:

Before Ole.
While Ole.
After Ole.

Must Be Ole's Fault!
But Ole did spend 3 years and 450m to rectify the problem though, which he failed.

On the other hand, Rangnick has only been given couple of of weeks and 0 fund so far to improve this.

Ralf must be wondering how is this team that is suppossedly be one of the best in the league on paper went out and played like San Marinho against Newcastle. Well Ralf, we have been wondering about that too, so did Ole.

Cliques are pretty plain to see, while some others are basically loners, and Maguire, Greenwood and maybe 1 or 2 others are either actively disliked or not respected by some of the bigger egos.

Cliques don't necessarily mean theres overt hate/animosity, but it definitely can lead to not enjoying your palace of work if you're an outsider, weird power dynamics and a subconscious impact on behaviour.

Obviously they need to rise above all of this, but it is fascinating and actually quite relatable to real workplaces.

There's a reason why some managers insist of certain rules e.g. around mealtimes, sitting in mixed groups, team bonding etc.

Ronaldo / Cavani / Jesse / Mata / Martial / Donny / Perrera / Matic / Pogba / McTominay / Rashford / Dalot / Bissaka / Telles / Shaw / Jones

An honest question to everyone here----How many from the above list should stay here after next summer? That explains why we are in this current situation, so many players are either not motivated enough or not good enough

some people might even add players like Maguire / Baily / Bruno to the above list as they are not performing at expected levels ....

Looks bleak but I think we dont have to replace the entire squad, I think we just need to add few players like a proper DM/RB and need to integrate players like Hannibal / Elanga / Amad

Maybe they are thinking RR is only here 6 months we neednt worry. RR should go into the dressing room demand who is spreading the leaks. If no one owns up say to Maguire you are captain you will not play again and will train with the reserves until you grass them up. If no one owns up by next week Rashford you will suffer the same fate. Do this and stick by it and it would turn back to doing whatever the manager asked in no time. Thats the only way imo. Drastic, put noses out of joint, well thats whats needed with these snivelling embarrassing moaning worst group of players ever.

Yeah you could well be right but it's bang out of order to decide I'm not working hard for the manager as he's only here til the summer

Was thinking the other day how odd it must be for him to see how much standards have dropped between the day he left the club and now he's back.

I'd love to hear a frank interview with CR7 about this.
We may get this in about 10 years time.

For some of our players, the situation we had the last 3 years is their dream, no fan, no pressure of success, they can always do just decent and earn world class salary, and post stuff on twitter.

That sounds about right. And tbh, most people in their jobs would be happy to have zero pressure, nobody watching over them and their manager being their best mate....all while getting page the highest wage in the industry.

I've seen an interview with him where he hints at certain things.

With regards to other players he says that he tries to pass on information and advice. He says they listen intently to what he is saying. BUT don't implement it.

He them goes on to say that's the difference today. Especially youngsters. They do listen but after carry on as normal

I’m only in here so the Caf armchair psychologists can tell me what the players are thinking, and why they should all be flogged and fecked off out the club.

Proceed.

The only time people say things like this is when they want to use an excuse but pretend they're not.

Rashford himself makes runs like that every single game, its why he gets on the ball so often to lose it. Cavani got picked out for a couple of chances in 45 minutes too, it's a low bar if that is Ronaldo's highlight reel from the game.
That obviously wasn't Ronaldo's highlight reel from the game, it's some dude that's cherry picked a few terrible decisions + awful passes from our team. The post I was originally referring to said our players are too lazy to make those runs. My argument is that our players DO make those runs (as evidenced X3 whole minutes worth of 36 year old Ronaldo making runs time and time again!!!!!!), our players are just simply currently incapable of making that pass.

The amount of times we give the ball away on transition is -awful-, and it has been for YEARS, hence the low standard we actually have for a football player now. The passes on that clip -are not hard passes to make- even for a decent footballer. It's a joke if we are accepting that level of garbage at Manchester United and I understand Ronaldo's frustration completely, as with @hobbers - how our level has gotten so low I'm not sure, maybe less demanding managers + fans + players that are just about good enough.

The problem is with the players, and RR has got a huge job on his hands to solve this and try and get that 4th place, all in 6 months.
We need to get in 2/3 players ASAP that will change this, and then we need to get rid of the ones who are causing the problem. Maybe the Youngsters are the answer in some positions.

Who knows if it will be 6 months. I think RR will be around for a couple of years after supporting a new manager. I just hope the will is there to support him if we see players like Amad/Elanga play over senior players. Either way we need to get back to basics.

Matching teams for effort, a solid tactical approach coupled with our spending power means there is really no excuse for us not to be right up there with Liverpool and City year after year.

dark times it seems at the minute if these rumours are to be believed but given everything that's gone on with this team we probably have to expect a bit of short term pain for long term gain.

The good news is Rangnick seems (with his comments about players not wanting to be there) to be willing to get shot of bad eggs regardless of reputation.

Yes he will be around as an advisor for a couple of years but if some of these same players are still here, then things won't change. They will throw the next manger under a bus also.

Confirmation that the body language was an issue. Apparently, Rangnick saw it himself and told the players to cut it out.

This is spot on, and certainly inline with what we see in the field.

Spot off. Cavani and Varane are pros. Ronnie can be a bit of a child sometimes but every indication is he got a bollicking four days ago and accepted it and is all the better for it. Good on you Ralf

I think it’s plain to see that we can no longer only blame the manager. The players have displayed a poor attitude for a number of years. For me the very fact that they have to be told to run more is a disgrace. One thing that they should be doing at a bare minimum is give there all, we can argue about if they good enough but the lack of effort which is apparent it unforgivable.
I think it’s been a gradual decline in standards over a long time, probably since peak Ferguson. Went completely bananas under Solskjaer. You know those programmes where you have someone with an impossible pooch visit a pet expert and it ends up being all about the owner. We need Joel and the pink lad getting manners put on them as well.

Well done, Ralf.
Actually confirms what I've suspected for a while, that while Ralf gives the impression that he over shares, he's intentionally very open about the aspects he wants to press to hear and keeps certain things quiet or completely throws them off the scent.

Course there are cliques. My sense is it’s different with some players. Honestly Maguire is a different case. May be issues there not in view of the Caf etc

I’m surprised there isn’t a thread created for this alone and will be interesting to see how this develops in the next few months

Body language has been poor because we’ve been struggling through games. I don’t think attitude and body language is a problem at-large, however. The squad fought back into games more or less every week, which doesn’t happen without some sort of effort and belief. It was only a few months ago the likes of Neville were on the box saying how the squad was likeable and full of good eggs, ready to take the next step. We didn’t, because the wheels came off after a poor start, and here we are. We need some new players in midfield before any discernible change will be made to the quality of our football.

How is that "spot off" when you agree with me

Looked so much better without Rashford as he is currently playing, although Shaw also played well so maybe that helped.

Maguire and Bruno are the ones who lead on the poor body language. Maguire being captain (and so short of ability) is unforgivable, really. His comments in the media are piss poor too. I’d love to know what Rangnick thinks of his level and the money paid for him.
