The Fourth RedCafe Sheep Draft

I don't think we need to stick with 16. The problem here is that kicking out just 4 out of 20 looks terribly harsh, not least since all those managers have shown plenty of interest, i.e. they haven't gotten into their current predicament by not being arsed. More down to bad luck than poor drafting, etc.

My original suggestion was to jump straight from the drafting to the q-f stage. Cut down on the number of matches. I'm a bit sick of 'em, to be honest.

I think they last too long for me at least. Especially if we are looking to allow more teams per draft, which has been a big plus for me with more discussion and interest than ever.

It's not harsh. If it was just 16 they'd not have a chance to play at all and at least this way they had a fair shot at playing a match and also got to enjoy the drafting process.

Plenty of great players to go around in an all time draft. It wouldn't work with more obscure drafts like the Eastern Europe one.

Well, let's get this over with. I feel like I'm halfway there already

How many yet to vote @The Stain @antohan

im happy to be one of those 4 so you can reduce number to 3 :) Part of the draft that i enjoy is finished so from now we go into necessary evil.

Aye, tbh that's how I feel as well.

With an all-time pool, all the more so. Feel most of these players have been discussed to death.

No reflection on the draft as such, it's been fun and Stain/anto have done a great job.

That said, we do have a new feature in the «group stage» polls. Will be interesting to see how that plays out.

Done, hope I didn't decide anything as I basically only had a quick browse at everything.

I might not remember your past sides that strongly, but I feel like you've frequently gone with your 4-2-3-1 setup with inside wide players, all-rounded full backs, a solid double pivot, and technically skilled footballers all over the park. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't noticed you try different shapes and approaches (even when we were together for the Monopoly Draft, we went with a 4-2-3-1).

Hardly the same approach tbf, my last draft featured a flat midfield 4, gaining inspiration from Spain 08, iirc the Americas draft was more of a 4-3-3 with Kempes and Garrincha and the draft before that was hardly a 4-2-3-1 (don't know what to call it )

Aye, although this was the side that I had in my mind but thought the side-back duo weren't suited/good enough to carry out such a formation.

Can't argue with that. 3 sheep in the first 5 turns and, when the door opened for a comeback, Crappy and I basically dragged each other back into the gutter.

Reckon your side would be very hard to beat, even the best teams in the draft would struggle if you parked the bus. Going forwards i reckon your front 3 have a goal in them, specially being supported with top quality wingbacks but i guess King Kenny got underrated as always.

Mazhar only had one sheep. Carrol was a transformation spell.

Incredibly harsh to vote him out, IMO.

 What the feck. He was on my "near flawless" list with Pepe as the only weak link.
Yeah. I had a wee shortlist of teams which were short on quality or tactically questionable, and he wasn't on either. The likes of Simonsen, Van Himst and Blankenberg are under-appreciated IMO.

Yeah, my bad on that. I was probably thrown off by

Yeah, that side! Arbeloa could have worked, but Jose Andrade wasn't a good fit in there. If we had Victor Andrade, things might have worked out...

The four who are eliminated at this stage are (in no particular order):

Eh? What was wrong with my side?

Did @Edgar Allan Pillow have a role making some of my players appear sheep-like? :p

Oh well, I hope the neutrals appreciated my compilation video on van Himst, at least. I'm kind of sad that he won't get more of a push. I really wanted to make him more known especially after the 40's draft where he didn't get much love.
