The Fourth RedCafe Sheep Draft

You didn't bid on Sheva so no money tied up. @DavidG has spent 40M and those funds are unavailable to him.

In the meantime, Sheva's Ukrainian mob buddies (and P-Nut) are after you and Nedved's and Goofy's relatives are suing you for ALL you are worth. DavidG better not put a foot in France...

You need a lawyer pronto to make it all go away and, in David's case, try get the 40M back from Dortmund, the insurers or whoever.

It's only 5M, all you have to do is post "Good man Anto" on an active thread in the United forum and send us the link (will do as the modern version of communicating through classified ads).

Not that it concerns me anymore but is it 7 players standing on mines or 7 years (like a multiple winner might have two mines attached to him). Sorry if this question was asked before
It's a valid question I would have happily answered when everyone had the benefit of the info.

40m on a player to blow up.

That's me for the draft. Not even gonna deny the meltdown. Replace me

If you pay 5m (insurance), you will get 40 millions back later.

My understanding.

Isn't that before you make a bid? Otherwise not much of insurance after it happens

Very unfortunate that @DavidG especially after the last round and Ronaldo's bid

Took me a while to remember the guy's name. The red-haired fullback was too good to be a sheep.

Agreed. Considering the quality standards set here already it would have been way out of order to make him a sheep. I love that we aren't naming him.

Comeback of the century is on

Your last round (you were the only one manager successful for the 2nd pick ) was the sign that everything is still possible for you hopefully :)

Seriously, though. Yes, there is a possibility that the money is lost. How much have you spent in total? Exactly. Are you doing poorly in the draft? No. C'mon man, pull it together.

Can be a wind up from anto, there was no official confirmation that it's going to work

People really need to stop taking me seriously FFS.

I would like to play my retrospective bomb disposal expert card

Are you guys keeping track of the budget? Would have if my bid was lost due to some manager overspending.

At least get the managers do it themselves in the pick submission convo and you can just verify it.
I'm keeping track of everything :)

Edit: Apart from collateral lolz

Yup. The mine's make it the worst wound to use a cheat card.
Well last round 3 cheat cards were used 2 of them unsuccessfully. My take is smaller pool riskier to use cheat card - you see who is going for who but without seeing the value the chances of bidding big and getting block(along with 40m) is big.

There are 7 mines in 51 years - the chance to hit one is roughly 10-15%. Considering the huge pool of great players I'd say it's a better use than to have 20 players to choose from.

My take on it of course.

The mines should have been placed on the multiple winners and specific years they won it IMO

Oh shit. I thought we lost it. Cheers!
I had initially the same plan as you guys like bidding 40m on Beckenbauer or just failing somehow to go for him in the next round so it's good to know before I made some blunder in next rounds.

 It was such a retarded and obvious play that I guess we all thought others wouldn't do it.

You should count in the collateral too. 7 mine's + 14 collaterals. That's 21 in 51..about 41% strike rate. Not really worth it imo, if probability of things out of your control is that high.
You can calculate the collateral based on other picks and seeing some of the picks it will be around 20ish all things considered, but yeah it was a high risk indeed.

As soon as Joga started asking for the cheat card, which he never used, I knew if he passed everyone would think he got Bekenbauer. At the end I think we only managed to fool Edgar and of course ourselves that no one else would do it.

Same here. :wenger::D

My initial thoughts were to use the Cheat card, but I knew I would not be awake at 4am to do it.
It was obvious to me that it would be a card heavy round, and other may have the same idea. So just went ahead and bid the near max for him. I knew the chances of landing him were slim.

IMO you dodged a bullet there - if he wasn't blocked you'd spent 39m on blocking him so turned out good for you in the end.

You should get an AM or at least someone to help you with the card when needed, as there are many decisions to take on the spot when you decide to use it(depending on how many others have used it in the same round and who bids for who)

Ah, just realized me and @Tuppet are using the same strategy!

Have already asked for AM twice with no response. I can manage.

Doesn't work that way though. Varying degrees of attraction so you could pick the collateral before the bomb man gets picked and blows up.

Also, players only blow up when successfully picked up AND PAID FOR. If they are targeted unsuccessfully they don't.

We enjoyed watching your clever stratagems. Thanks for the entertainment.

There's a masterful play from this round that went terribly wrong btw.
