The Fourth RedCafe Sheep Draft

@The Stain

How does bidding go here?

Say 2 players bid on Johnny big balls.

But Johnny big balls has won the Ballon d'or twice and they've picked different years. Do they both still lose their money?

If they bid the same amount, sure.

Yeah, how do you decide who gets the player if multiple managers successfully land a multiple Ballon winner?

Nevermind, you can obviously just go with money as per usual. But just to be clear:

Manager A: Messadona 2010, 40m
Manager B: Messadona 2012 40m

Messadona: BLOCKED

A: 39m
B: 40m

B gets Messadona.

How is that supposed to work?

player a - 40 milllions euros for messi 2021
player b - 50 millions for messi 2022
player c- 55 millions for messi 2022

player c gets the player i think unless there are mines

right?

What is the order of resolution?

For instance one player picks Johnny Big Balls year X with no land mine and 40M bid

another player picks Johnny Big Balls year Y which has a land mine with a 30M bid

Do all land mines go off first?

Or would player one get the pick since he would have PASSED first before land mine?

Make this even more confusing and reverse the bids.

A - 20m no landmines
B - 30m landmine what happens?

Just to take this forward, If Messdona 2012 has a landmine, does that mean Manager A gets Messdona 2010 by default?
Ignore the different years. It's still only one player. 2012 version blows up. The other is collateral.

No land mine goes off. 40m bid wins the player.

If I'm a collateral victim as I want messi 2028.

Is it possible to get messi 2028 for the pick 2?

I did notice that 2007, thought you guys are being nice, you know perfectly well I would have gone with 2008 if you had set your criteria differently, and you can guarantee a landmine to go off. ;)
Initially the idea was already picked players also blew up, so the beauty was if you killed your nan at least you also wiped out Messi.

The Stain disagreed, so we ended up blocking the whole period. I'm strongly considering making him a special event reward and see how far you will go.

Time for the devil question: a protect card works for all the ballon d'or won by a player?

Yeah thats not a good idea to remove picked players from a team.

Its really the worst type of draft mechanic that is no fun for anyone but the draft master. If someone gets a player passed that should be it. Putting time and effort into researching players gets cheapened if some stupid random event can just remove a player from your team.

Its something that just isn't any fun to lose players you put time and energy into building a team around. There are also plenty of mechanics in a sheep draft and the cards to make players fail that there is really no need for "random draft master events " to remove players from someone's team. Especially if that hits a team already with sheep and removes one of their only GOATS thats just bad game rules to me.
