The Fourth RedCafe Sheep Draft

Picked in a previous round?

No risk, no reward.

Probably true. This wasn't a bad round for simply gambling. On the whole it stinks of old mutton, obviously, but for an individual manager the odds aren't that shabby.

I know harms or Joga would have gone for him, so bid slightly less than the max as I didn't want to waste money and lose the player. In hindsight I should have probably used a card.

harms or Joga, whoever got him...congrats!

Someone used their powers to block Ronaldo
You guys blocked him putting the same high bids (40m) ;)

It's very risky with the GOAT's and putting the maximum bids. Pat and Tuppet failed in the last round, Sjor struck gold with Maradona.

With a depleted pool like the current round is very risky not to get a sheep.

If someone used a protect card on ronaldo, you would have had 'failed' instead of 'blocked'.

Blocked is only possible if 2 managers put the same amount: 30 millions for example.

The worst round of the draft (so far) turned out to be the best for so many. I'm impressed.

Well done to all who got their player, particularly Joga & Harms.

You can only make bids in P1! Mmmmkay?
Guys, please. Way too many trying to bid in P2/P3. We've repeatedly told you you can only bid in Pick 1 and it's made very clear in the OP as well. *shakes head in disappointment, plotting how to punish you*

Now, I understand why only one manager has used the pass card.

Ahhh right I understand. He was worth taking the punt on but sad that the greatest number 9 of all time isn't part of proceeedings :(

I love it when people pretend to know what is going on.

Reminds me of that first round of mindgames with @Balu were I talked in riddles as to what I was going for and challenging him to call my bluff.

Then I chickened out and it turned out he hadn't understood the poisoned chalice reference in the first place anyway.

BTW I really like this deadline system and would be in favor of it being implemented for future drafts.

Yeah it's great, especially with lot of managers. Helps the draft moving, while also providing a good timeframe for all to send their picks.

Indeed. It's quite easy to play that game too - just refer to HIM and then, later, when you realize it was a different player, you pretend HIM was the second one all along.

As for this round...nah. People don't know what's going on - that's my tip. My hunch, if you will. They overlook obvious possibilites. Then again, of course, they could be spot on.

Joga is my favourite. He will get preferential treatment.

Wouldn't mind implementing it of some sort in a snake draft either, needs some thinking though on how to do it.

For snake, you mean?

Well, you could go Stalinist on deadlines there too. All picks (by all managers) must be submitted within a 24hr window. Then set the draft order and provide each manager with his own, personal deadline - which must be met, otherwise he gets a sheep.

That could work. As a manager you know that you must make your pick before 23:30 PM every round - and that's that.

ETA Sheeping is overly harsh and could ruin too many teams, so what you could do is call it a FAIL when managers do not submit on time - and then let everyone with FAILS pick (in due order) at the end of the regular drafting process to complete their teams.

Problem is when there are 6-7 picks before you it's 4pm GMT and you are from Australia for example. you can possibly send in couple of picks to the draft master of course.
