I remember this final quite well, kohler's last one (i think someone mentioned this earlier).

i was expected people to pick Larsson but through another final.

And @antohan the Intertoto Cup was a brilliant place to search
 
About time Vidic and Shearer were picked.

I'm amazed no one has yet to pick a certain goalkeeper....

No sheep in this round. I had hoped for a few. But people have chosen carefully here - nothing too obvious and several very good picks, in my opinion.
 
Cutch came out of that pretty damn well actually. Not a bad duo at all.

Terry is a vote killer mate. Carvalho was derided in the last draft I had him in.. Good luck though. I think you will need a very solid DM. Baines is suspect defensively and none of your midfielders except the DM is going to track back all day.

I'm pretty happy with them. Ramos is bizarrely underrated on here but is a proven performer right at the highest level for club and country. Playing for Madrid for nearly a decade and 115 caps for Spain and on here you'd think he was a bad player or somethin. Can't complain about gettin Spain's record scorer at this late stage also.

Me neither. As a Madrid fan I never really rated him defensively, I love him but he's not that good of a defender. Really prone to make stupid fouls outside the box and receiving dumb cards. I honestly don't trust him.

Yeah when I realized I can get Terry to partner him it was a must, my defense was always the problem, they will help saving exactly that.

Thats not looking half bad, although that right side will kill you against a team with good wings. Need the right striker though.

Good strong side, although I mainly see it as a counter attacking side.

Why is Terry a vote killer? because the caf hates him? I wouldn't have taken him alone but with Carvalho you have to rate them together don't you?

And is Baines suspect defensively? Never heard anyone say that about him, and that's why I have Nedved on his wing :D

That is a pretty popular opinion on here but I don't share the view at all - he's obviously no Nesta, but he's a very good defender and his pace is always an asset at the back.

Yeah I plan on trying to find the right partner in midfield to Modric and employ him to help Righetti there. Sanchez won't help enough, although he is really aware tactically, he will track back. That's not enough for covering for Righetti, but it will be fine against a side without a strong LW

I think Crappy has done very well, Keown is probably not a vote winner on here due to his antics after RVNs penalty miss, but he was quality. Was interesting to see peterstorey put him in his Arsenal XI ahead of Tony Adams.

Stobzilla also made two great picks and Pippa snagging Raul is up there. I was tossing up between Pessotto-Raul and Shearer-Neville, happy with my decision.

Your team looks MUCH better after that round, by the way. There's a couple of quality DMs left too that should be all yours.​

He loses concentration too often to be top quality, has all the skills needed to be one of the best defenders in the world but the mentality isnt right.

Terry is detested on here, no question about that. Carvalho seems a bit underrated - not sure why. For my money he was a brilliant player in his pomp. A better and far more clever CB than Terry. What you have undoubtedly going for you, however, is a proven top level partnership. That has to be a selling point.

Baines is an offensive fullback - and that's that as far as I'm concerned. You have to sacrifice something in a purely defensive sense if you want to use a player like that. But why not? Most teams these days are willing to make that sacrifice, so it's hardly unprecedented.

Quality match up mate. Terry-Carvalho were excellent and proven. Always a bonus in a draft game.

I agree with that, physically he has it all and he can actually play football. It is mental more than anything, as you say. Still, that is a far cry from viewing him as a liability or a weak link. He's a good defender.

I see your point, I just think Baines is solid defensively, and with a winger like Nedved in his team who has such a great engine that won't be a problem. I think it will take a REALLY special right wing to make that a weakness..

Thanks! I really feel much better after this round, I feel I sorted my defense who was really bad. I don't have those DMs you are talking about in my head yet, so I need to dig deep in my memory.

He's not a weakness, but he's definitely not one of the good CBs in this draft. As I said, I watch him every week play for RM, he makes plenty of mistakes due to loss of concentration, causing goals and fouls outside the box. I think that it's a big problem against draft teams..

Yes, because he is detested. I had a Chelsea spine once and got destroyed for it. That's why I went with two of the less hated players in Makelele and Essien.

Any thoughts on possibly using Neville as a wingback in a back 5? I didn't plan on getting him but I think it could work out well
