The First Redcafe Sheep Draft

An important question:
Does everybody not rate Nikopolidis at all? Or do you feel he's amazing tournament in Euro 2004 should be regarded as his prime so that makes him a worthy enough GK for this draft?

I see people were happily giving off 'hints' against last night.

I have 3 sheeps but have not once tried to give a single hint. I could have easily told Stob last round that I was going for 'one of the best english defenders' last round.

Irrespective of the results, as far as I am concerned this is more or less cheating. Each to its own though.

@AldoPaine18 Give me my sheep right back please.

Yep completely agree with this, completely contradicts the whole point of the draft. It should have been stamped out straight away when antohan was doing it in round 1.

Actually screw it you guy can wait for Aldo to see the full list. This way any unlikely mistakes can be rectified behind the scenes before letting it all out.

Goalkeepers doesnt matter a lot and he will be more than worthy if peak can be described as short as an international tournament.

i didn't particularly rate him when he played at the club level but yeah he has 2004 going for him. i think you panicked when it came to him

This has been the dithery assitants draft, hasn't it? ;)

He's borderline sheep IMO
That's harsh, he's a solid keeper with an outstanding international tournament, won countless domestic trophies. Far from great of course, but nowhere near a sheep.

Let's just wait until aldo posts his results.

I jest a bit but i've lost count of the number of times i've said to myself 'is that grey haired idiot still playin' after seeing a mistake that's cost a goal on the Champions League roundup show.

I'm not convinced there won't be the odd casual voter that assume he is a sheep.

Did you post who you picked and then delete it, Stob?

I didn't look at that final until after I'd already passed the first round, was pretty amazed to see the guy you picked on the left wing. He must have been 17-18. Nice one

On one hand he's got that excellent Euro 2004 to his record. On the other, he often seemed to drop clangers on Champions League nights. Leaning towards Cutch's view at the moment.

That's why it's such a great idea that all sheep have to be written in pink. Helps to make sure that no one confuses sheep with less known players.

No.

Maybe.

No wait, no, definitely no.

Kohler's last ever game, such a sad ending for such an incredible career. Sent off early and had to watch his team loose the final :(.

with nikopolodis, i am biased by his performances against us. especially the way he let in a goal when we beat pananthiakos in 2003-04 season if i am not wrong. he didn't play that well and if i remember correctly we were 4-0 up by half-time and he was substituted at around half-time

@sajeev @Cutch @Gio Every player has his off nights, probably Nikopolidis had more of them than most keepers getting picked here, but you don't need to look at his off time, you need to look at his peak and that was Euro 2004.
If you judge Ferdinand by his current ability, you'll say he's prone for mistakes and slow etc etc... But that's not his peak. And Niko's was Euro 2004. Bloody best keeper in the tournament and maybe the MVP of all tournament. come on. He's no sheep, not a very good or brilliant keeper, but he's no sheep.

Just warning you Viva that it might cost you in this. Sure if people only consider his best tournament you should be fine but the worst thing you can have in these drafts is an error prone keeper. I can think of 2 much more higher profile that I havnt seen picked yet probably for that same reason

A peak isn't 6 games to be fair so you can't just use a month of football at the Euro's to indicate the quality of the player. I agree with Cutch that he isn't much cop as a keeper at all.
