The First Redcafe Sheep Draft

Good criterion - research will commence tomorrow. Now I'm off to bed.

Last word on the sheep: I think it's obvious that the Liverpool and United duds will attract the most hilarity/negative consequences for the managers - so if the idea is to punish 'em as much as possible, it's obvious that Cisse and Ando will be better candidates than some obscure character who may or may not be a half decent player.

Also, I don't care if Arnold Scholten was known as The White Socrates - he is clearly a highly mediocre figure in this context. An uncapped Dutchman.

Quick question: In some cases it might be difficult to dig up links to a particular match in which a player was sent off. I presume it's sufficient to provide a link like this:

http://www.footballdatabase.eu/football.joueurs.franco.baresi.9098.en.html

Baresi (not eligible for this draft) has one red card in Serie A, as shown at the bottom of the page. That's enough proof, right?

Yeah, as long as that shows a red card in one of the club competitions, it's fine.

Oh, and Djemba Djemba was nominated on several occasions both for the Ballon d' Or and other balloons. Everyone knows this. I'm pretty sure he won at least a couple of 'em too. Should have at any rate.

Good night, gents!

World Cup and double Champions league winner, while I couldn't get Herrera because he won one Copa America. Nope, sorry.

You shouldn't veto based on that comparison. Veto all you want if you think there are worse players around but every round will have a different pool and a different level of sheep.

 @antohan strikes back.

In fact I'm pissed off with him on taking Koeman. I thought he would be safe till I get around to him a couple rounds further on.

A. Cole too. I had him as a safe choice.

It's really strange, highest scoring defender ever (twice as much as Passarella!!!!) and a cracking defender as well obviously, yet he seems to be woefully underrated.

Last another round? I was surprised he lasted the previous one where I had him as a second attempt choice initially but once I saw that Nesta-fest I imagined loads of those would go for defenders... same logic for not having a stab at third.

Should I do that? I am not sure, would give away the strategy of all the participants.

I don't see a problem in seeing who did what. It gets published in the review thread in BS, doesn't it?

Strategy is a big word for what we are doing.

Maybe people take Cruyff's opinion on him too seriously.

Here he's saying "if I have to name someone who cannot defend, it is Ronald Koeman".

Edit!

Who were his fecking defenders then?

PS: see the point having watched it. Harsh, but the overall point stands.

I'll do it in a more organized way later but here's for Round 2, for example.

That Spanish lad who ended up being good at tennis as well.

He usually played a three with Koeman and two attacking fullbacks either side. Tennisman would play ahead of Koeman to free up foreign slots for Laudrup, Romario and Dagger. They did both play together at times, but that wasn't the default.

And updated the second round picks on the first page minus the sheep.

A couple of really safe managers out there who can take advantage when others have no option to go safe and really take the team to the next level.

Couple of good combos. Rui Costa and Sheva looks mouth watering.

So, @antohan, how do you plan to combine Djemba twin and Koeman. :D
