The first Cricket sheep thread

I desperately need an AM for the next draft or I am willing to be someone's AM either.

I think sheep is the best and most fair format. Everyone has the same dibs on all the players.

Why is Akshay still persisting with a Wk ? :annoyed: He already has a decent one in Tilekaratne if I am not mistaken.

Thought this was round 2 and round 3 starts now

Doesn't fancy going into the QF with him as the WK, understandable.
But why ? His record is pretty good. It's comaprable to Prior's. The fascination with Ames I can understand, but opting for Prior over Tilekaratne, there really isn't that much between them. I figured it would have been more wise to go for an extra bowler or a spinner based on playing conditions.

There are no venues in SL for the remaining rounds, which I think hurts SL based players. They're going to be judged purely on away records while someone like Prior has a good chance still of playing at home. Also assumed all the big names would go early, which perhaps hasn't been the case.

Maybe, but wouldn't going for that extra bowler have made a greater difference ? Or even an All Rounder if you can find one. You may end being in trouble when the QF line-ups and venues are announced with this strategy. That's my opinion anyways.

As Akshay said, he's looking for a non subcontinent keeper for their batting. The likes of tillakaratne are home pitch heroes. But I do agree with you regarding prior, not much of an upgrade. I had Akshay down for a spinner + pacer in my prediction in chat :p

I made an excel out of all the teams and who they may pick, and I got almost everyone's pick wrong

Had you down for opener + wk and you obliged later by giving up Trescothick and Marsh :D

Yeah, mine was fairly predictable. Only fear was if I gave up Marsh, would I land with a sheep. Also thought of giving up Shakib, but I thought an allrounder (And despite what everyone thinks, he is still one, was the No 1 All rounder in tests, ODI's and T20 all at some point) with spin would suit me more in Subcontinent terrain, allowing me to essentially play 8+3.

I realize I shouldn't be giving up my game plan, but who cares. There's no way I'll win this thing :D. Just happy with making it into the QFs.

Edit: He's still at No 2 in the All rounders list. That's bloody brilliant considering the nation he plays for.
More Edits: He's still the No1 All rounder in ODI's and T20. Damn!!

Yeah, the only doubt was whether you would risk sheeps but your team was strong so I thought you would.

Oh and screw the false modesty, you have a superb team. :D

Let's see :). All of the teams are top draw. I'd hate to face any of them in the QF.

Think your team is very strong too. But then, there are no guarantees in this tournament with pitch and toss both being factors.

Don't worry, he has made an Excel sheet where he has considered all possible toss outcomes, all possible venues and all possible matchups and calculated all sorts of voting patterns.

. If only I was that talented. I got the picks in itself wrong. :D

I learnt a new cricketing term today, "mankad", it's when a bowler stumps the player at the non-batting end before he has started to bowl. Anyone know where the word comes from?

Afaik vinoo mankad ran out one Aussie player twice in the 50s. Aussies called it that since then
