The first Cricket sheep thread

It's probably a battle of the sheep. Mani/Varun have 2 and NM just the 1. I can imagine Adam Bacher being slaughtered (if he's playing)

Only sheep playing would be Ganga who was a very respectable bat.

Mani/Varun vs NM is a real giant killer for me. Both are one of the favourites to win the draft. Mani might have the edge in bowling with Whispering Death and Typhoon.
That's joke for sure.
Send mine, TMH might start it anytime soon.

@Varun who won the toss between you and NM and what was decision? I have it noted but on home laptop.

And unlike the likes of Holding, he destroyed everything in sight in ODIs as well. He'll be in my all time ODI dream team, without a doubt.
Him and Akram as the opening bowlers probably.

You're right up there mate. There are a few obviously, but anything can happen.

Also Skills vs Skizzo should be good. Skizzo probably has the better bat , but I don't know how useful three spinners will be. Is it cape town they are playing at ?

I won't be around much. Did what I could with the wrote up. Good luck mani and varun

@The Man Himself time for reinforcements?
Ya in 10 minutes

  • Reinforcements will be from teams losing in R16 ONLY. Those blocked during draft picks will remain blocked.
  • Quarter final picks will allow teams to choose maximum of 2 players from replenishment pool. That means if you want to add only 1 or no one, you are free to do so.
  • Any no. of additions will mean equal no. of sacrifices from current squad of 12.
  • The players one wishes to sacrifice should be informed in PM BEFORE picking from replenishment pool.
  • This remains a sheep draft. So, if there is block after 3 rounds, sheep will be allocated.

Wait meaning I can only exchange or I can select two more but just select 12 for the game?

Perfect.

As a proactive measure, may I ask Basit Ali and Devon Malcolm to put down the free sandwiches and take the bus ride back home? Thanks.

If you select two from replenishment pool, you will have to let go of 2 BEFORE picking. So your squad will never have more than 12 players.

So how do we submit pick? Should we say I want player X for player A? Or should I choose player X and if I get him then choose who to let go?

As far as I understand, say you are picking two new players which I believe everyone would, you submit two names from your team who will be removed IF you get a PASS. I believe you can specify pairs, say you went for a bowler and a batsmen, so you can say remove the bowler if you get a bowler, etc.

No. You first let go a player, then choose. Hence the point about maximum of 2. Depends on your risk appetite.

Following will be steps in selecting.

1) You inform via PM that player A and/OR B you are letting go. After that, they are GONE forever from this draft.
2) After that you submit picks.
3) in case your pick is blocked after 3 rounds, you get sheep.

Mani vs NM needs to be decided before we proceed to know the full available replenishment pool.

Would the sheep be from the replenishment pool only?

Oh.

I don't care about it now coz I'm letting go of two sheep anyway but tough for those who will let go of legit players and may end up with sheep. Puts a different spin on it though, which is cool.

Also, you need not specifically mention X player for A, Y for B etc. It is possible that you may want to get rid of a batsman and bowler and get 2 batsmen. Just name of those from current squad you are sacrificing and 2 you want from replenishment pool will be enough.

Also, when you are allocating sheep you should ask the manager which position they want to fill, e.g. if they need a batsman the sheep should be a batsman, etc. Already practiced in football sheep drafts.

Ya, that can be done.

Not even through yet but would prefer it further matches don't come down to more sheep based on luck. A much simpler way which we did in earlier drafts would be to simply pick 1 from the team you beat and move on. Even if you go your way, keep sheep out of it so the matches are more even.

We ditched that a while back, and for the betterment of drafts. Really came down to luck and who you are facing and whether what you need is there with the opponent. Having a common pool has been a much sounder approach and has cemented it's place now in football draft rules.
