The first Cricket sheep thread

20 votes with discussion are better than a 100 votes from lurkers.
But those 20 votes are going to come from the 16 participants and AM's and the likes of TMH, Kotha and KM etc.

I know lurkers will skew the polls, and it is very likely they will vote for names familiar to them, but some middle ground needs to be there is my feeling.

But even 50 is far too less imo. The traffic on the site most of the time is around 1000 (lowest I've seen is like 600 or so, but yeah I may be including bots and guests as well I suppose), so getting just 50 of them to vote is just 5% of the demographic. And this is for Football!

If we can convince the modmins to post the polls on the home page (like how currently it is posting the van Gaal vs Pep vs Mou polls), that would drive up the votes I'd say or even a notification of some kind, just to pique interest. I know the 16 + AM's + plus a few others here will vote undoubtedly, but it would be nice if we can come close to 50.

I doubt modmins will agree to sticky a cricket draft thread. Not required actually as there are cricket matches going on and 'other sports' enthusiast will visit this sub forum. It will depend if they want to vote or not though.

I view all football drafts but rarely vote because I don't know half of the older players well enough to have an informed judgement. Given this is an all time draft, it'll be the same. I'd rather the ones voting do so because they know the players rather than throwing in a vote for the well known names. We can have around 25 voters I believe, that's good enough

Exactly. Football drafts can be very intimidating. I think cricket is a little easier because the pool of players is smaller, and some of the teams that have been drafted are made up of mostly modern players. Plus, worst come to worst, you always have the hard numbers to go by.

I also have a question on this replenishing pool. Are we allowed to pick players from all the losing teams of R16 or just the team we beat ?And how many picks do we get ?

Not decided yet.

Decent team but absence of likes of Shillingford, Jr. Murray and Darren Powell will hurt you.

@Samid has won the toss vs @harshad at Lord's. Decision?

Samid keeps out Wasim Raja. Nicky Boje is water bottle carrier for Harshad.

Cheers Nasser. It's a cracking pitch, we are going to bat first. Recent history shows that it won't do much for the first couple of days, the last 6 results have all gone in favour of the team batting first. Looking at the opposition batting hopefully we only need to bat big once.

@Skills won the toss in his match up with @Skizzo . Decision? Carlton Baugh 12th man for Skills while Mushtaq Ahmed is 12th man for Skizzo.

All toss completed. I hope all the teams playing tomorrow will have write ups ready at agreed time.

Well that makes sense now. But the Caf is very quiet today. Busy people with lives !

So is this an open vote ? Like people that don't vote get to know what the current status is? Or is it like one of those cases where only people who post are eligible to vote?
Open vote. We will have to tell mod who adds poll that.
