That's why you think it's a shit list. Go watch those movies.

No. And anyone who doesn't put planes, trains and automobiles in their top 100 list isn't worth listening to anyway.

Why? It's a great movie with some excellent performances by top actors. It deserves a place in the top 10. IMO of course.

it's a good movie. nothing more nothing less. it's actually a travesty that Shawshank is placed higher in the list than Lawrence of Arabia, in fact that makes me want to vomit in disgust.

Higher than Rear Window ffs! It shouldn't even be on the list.

Shawshank, you mean?

It fully deserves a place in the 80-90 range. punching waaay above its weight.

Lawrence of Arabia is epic, fecking epic! the sheer scale alone makes it a top 20 film, not even taking into account the awesome acting and compelling story.

Doc, did you see Wages of Fear? You better do it. And Come and See. FFS I've been telling you for ages.

no I haven't as far as I know. and I just checked both of our lists we didn't have it. thank goodness.

I watch most of my films from TV.

Did you know I am supposed to be getting 5 free blu-ray films? They haven't arrived yet but they should soon.

Use Netflix or Blockbuster.

I am weary of netflix and Blockbuster sucks in Canada, little in the way of selection.

there is another store on the same street that didn't burn down, it is also very good they will have these films...but it's downtown...:nervous:..I hate going downtown.

List is ok. Goes a bit spastic in the middle, though. We should do one next year., Mehro and I will choose the voters, hopefully the one's that have seen a wider range of films. By then Ole and Cinc will have done their lists and all.

Any list without Lock, Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels, Snatch and Se7en in the top 10 is totally wrong.

Not a completely spasticated list.

Good job Freaky.

Thread worth bumping.

Good list, seriously. Always open for contention but I have to say I pretty much enjoyed all those movies although I haven't seen 400 Blows and I've always thought Casablanca was over rated. Shawshank probably makes my top 100 just, but yeah I agree with most on here, I think it's only so highly lauded because of the cult status it's received.

Not enough comedy though, I think some great films have been overlooked like The Naked Gun, Uncle Buck, Waynes World etc...seriously, not taking the piss those are great movies.

And finally Mulholland Drive should be in the top 5. It is a work of genius of the highest, highest order. The Jurando scene in Club Silencio is possibly (IMO of course) the most moving scene in movie history.

How this shite made the list I will never know.
Tried to watch it a couple of times...slept from minute 20 right to the melodramatic ending.
Maybe something is really wrong with me.

No mate. It's complete shite.

Should be a bit higher up IMO.

The Usual Suspects has been the most suggested movie by myself to 10,000+ customers(maybe more really) in my time as a Store Mgr for the devil incarnate, Blockbuster. Easily 95%+ loved it and kept coming to me for other titles.

It could sneak very close into my top 10 personally. But, it takes hundreds of thousands to compile a list like that and it truly mean something. Personal top 100s are really meaningless for all time films.

You quoted kishankagram's imdb list, which mehro corrected. In the real imdb list its actually 20th, and its 21st in the redcafe list.

Not sure, I might have. My username is also spelt wrong from when I asked to change it.

Reading through this thread again makes me realise what a fussy arse I used to be with movies. I was a total snob and if it wasn't art-house, film noir or David Lynch then I wasn't interested, but I can honestly say I probably didn't enjoy most of the movies I watched in that phase, I just though I did because I was (and still am I suppose) a pretentious student.

I can now safely admit that my favourite films include Disney's Robin Hood, Jason and the Argonauts and Con Air alongside the genius of Mulholland Drive and Seven Samurai. feck it.

Anyway, as I've a bit of time off at the moment I'm filling my head with movies. In the last few days I have watched:

The Downfall: Loved it although it was pretty intense and if I never see another sweaty effigy of Hitler in my life I'll die happy

...and to medicated what I had just seen I watched a movie that I saw for the only time previously about 4 years ago: Hedwig and the Angry inch. This movie is fun, sweet, camp and with a bit of a dark side to it...but lots of cheesy 80's pastiche stadium rock.

Control: What can you say? Lovely movie but I did want to join the man on the washing line after that trauma.

Into the West: Irish movie with Gabriel Byrne and a horse. Really, really Irish but I loved it as I love Ireland and the gf is a from Cork.

Heavenly Creatures: Heavenly film. Masterpiece, truly.

Braindead: LOLOLOLOL! YES!

Lars and the Real Girl: Worst movie I've seen in years. Utterly sickly sweet and ultimately horrid piece of sentimental, unrealistic whilst trying to be realistic bollocks. JUST awful.

There Will be Blood: Antithesis to those who have lost faith in good movies. This is the Zidane of modern movie making. Genius. Brilliant.

and for todays viewing I'm going to re-watch Lawrence of Arabia and The Jungle Book (Disney original).

I love movies :D
